Good stuff. I have reloaded about a year, pistol only and want to give rifle a try. I am a little intimidated, but your explanation made it very clear. Thanks
My 243 is the plane jane SPS version with the Tupperware stock but it absolutely will stack that new Core lokt tipped ammo (fyi…bullet is actually a Hornady SST with a green tip). I also shoot the Hornady 87 gr v max for yotes after deer season.
Just bought a bag of 100 Starline 6.5 and it has 101 pieces lol. Funny you said that. First time I bought from them. I will say the neck tensions feel really consistent
I too have had some bad experiences with Hornady Brass. The biggest problem was with the primer pockets enlarging on me. To me the Hornady brass was softer than Remington and Winchester as well as Federal. I've had good luck with Remington. The best has been the Federal and Winchester. I've never loaded Norma or Nosler brass. It's a lot more expensive to get. When I've used Starline i've had the best luck.
If you want some good brass buy Lapua....last batch was cheaper than hornady...didn't have to debut or uniform flash holes lapua drills them...neck thickness is so even no need to turn them
Bought 100 pieces Nosler premier brass. Brass looked good, primer pockets good flash holes even and deburred...BUT...The heads seemed soft..used same 20 cases for load development then loaded 40 new cases on decided load ...on the 4th loading the first20 cases I used for load development the case heads stretched. Primer pockets were loose, smokey. No blown primers but brass is unusable.Wont hold a primer tightly. The other 80 should last a while but I'll not to expect to get over 4 reloads
I don't use mixed his stamp brass for precision or accuracy anymore. I have seen up to 100 ft per second between the different brands of brass on the reloading side
What we want to see, is the PROOF, With FACTORY Ammo, because thats what the average deer hunter ect uses. Hand Loads always shoot more accuracy. Please do another video, same rifle , with Rem , Winchester, Federal Factory Ammo.
I agree 100%. I usually don’t watch reload videos. I stayed longer than 10 seconds so I saw your comment. Reloading isn’t real shooting. 99% of ammo you have or “obtain” will be factory.
@michaelshanahan4965 reloading isn't real shooting? Are you serious with that comment? So, to be a real shooter everyone has to shoot factory ammunition? That's just ridiculous lol. If you wanted to be a real shooter and see the real accuracy potential of your rifles then you'd become a reloader too.
Would be very interested to know if you floated the barrel, or made any other alterations, before you achieved that marvellous accuracy - with carefully and obviously expertly worked up hand loads. Have just ordered exactly that rifle.
Thank you! Won't have the rifle until early New Year, but mightily looking forward to it. As you highlighted in your "Is Remington back" post, it has a handsome, classic, look to it.
For the lighter grain weight projectiles try Harvard v100 I've had good luck with that. Next up with your twist rate on that rifle try 78 28 SSC. Beyond that go to h1000
Just watched this noticed you have some 6.5 Speer impacts have u tried them yet? Ive loaded them in both my Tikka T3X and my Kimber 84M Hunter they seem to shoot good. Havent got to try it on game yet tho.
Box to Bench Precision is who makes the targets and they explain everything on their website…I was just using the target for a point of aim so the numbers were irrelevant for what I was using it for. It’s a neat target though.
If you’ve never used Ramshot Hunter, I highly recommend it. I had horrible luck loading for one of my .243 Win. Switched to Hunter and the groups really shrunk.
@@alabamareloader it’s always nice to get a rifle that shoots straight! I just sighted my marlin model 60 in for squirrel season. Was shooting the bullseye out of the paper targets at 40 yards. Couldn’t be happier. Not sure if you hunt, but if you do good luck this season brother. PA
Have you checked torque on stock, or considered free floating the forearm? I have a 2012 CDL 7MM-08 I bought when I lived back in the Shoals, that is doing very well after sanding a little bit off.
I would opt for something like a Tikka or JP Sauer and Sohn…but if I had to pick between your two options I would say a Remington CDL should do just fine.
I’m new to your channel so, I might be asking a question that many have already asked. My question is, how important do you think the break in period is on a new rifle? I’ve never actually done it on any of my guns.
Depends on which “expert” you listen to…I’m of the mindset that it won’t hurt to do it. Whether or not it actually has any measurable benefit is up for debate. I’ve done it both ways but here lately I’ve just opted to “break in” the barrel.

Aint that AWESOME!
Happy for ta brother little as satisfying as a accurate rifle!!!

Incredible patience. Thorough explanation.
The Remington rifles are built in Georgia now and the shotguns are built in New York still.

I had Hornady 243 brass split after one reload. Guess I will have to get me some Norma brass ,I have had good luck with hand loads for my 308.
Love model 700s stock or built. My wifes model 7 243 shoots amazingly accurate for a stock rifle.

The Real Gunsmith says he likes the Remington brass, and gets 8 to 10 loadings of stock pressures out of it.
I use the Hornady 87gr Vmax in my 243, really like them. Good to see that new Rem shooting good!
Lol my wife rolls her eyes when I come up with a baking sheet with brass on it

I've had great success with ppu brass, and in that caliber h4350

They shoot great in my Kimber and I let a buddy borrow the gun this past season and he smoked a nice 8 point with it. Pass through with the Impact.
Can you please explain what targets you use, what the number designations mean, and where you get them?

Really good way to start 👍
Do you have data on 308
Nice grouping bud. Nice video. Thank you. PA
I appreciate it…I was on pins and needles hoping this thing would shoot great and it didn’t disappoint.

How do you know you have a post bankrupt Remington 700 gun. They fied in 2018, do the serial numbers tel you. I'm about to buy the same model rifle.
RemArms began producing Remington firearms in April 2021. All of these firearms are uniquely identified with a serial number beginning with "RA".
Nice!
Do you always work loads up in .3 of a grain?
No it just depends on what I feel like jumping to be honest…I’ll do .2 - .5 grains
Hornaday is more committed to Gov. Related customers If you're with me!!! IMO that's why the Brass is the quality it is
Has anyone ever run 100 grain ttsx out of their 6.5prc
PROBABLY FIRST POUR .😢
Like to have a new remington or cva cascade 7mm08
