I used the 700 BDL with core locks for years. This year I used a Ruger American In 30/06 with Norma 150 grain whitetail ammo. Never hunted deer with anything other than the 30/06. Thanks again guy’s at Everyday Outdoorsmen. 👍🇺🇸🎥🥇
Did you get any close shots with that ammo. That's what ammo I guess I'll be using since that's all I can find at the moment. My max range shots where I'll be hunting will be 50 to 75 yds. Maybe 100 at the most. I fear this bullet will be too fast and not have the knockdown power I need. It's thick and I don't wanna lose the deer
Depends. I have several for different purposes as well. But, often times it's my Remington 7600 in .280 Remington. Yes, that was typed correctly. Remington Core-Lokt 150 grain. BSA Deerhunter 3-9X40 illuminated reticle. Extremely pleased with it.
A 1950 or 1951 Remington 721 bolt action 30-06 using Remington express core-lokt 165 gr PSP with a Weaver 4 power scope. This rifle was bought for my dad either the year before I was born or in the year I was born. I try to use 165 gr. SPBT. when I can find them but we live in a very small town.
I been using my Remington 700 BDL Varmint special in 25-06 118 grain boat tails handloads since 1972. Every once in a while throw in the .257 Weatherby Mark 5 with 118 grain boat tail hand loads. Both guns can reach out and touch them up in Potter.
Depends on the mood and terrain. Go too is my 700 CDL 30-06 with 180 grain non typical, if I’m walking the woods then either my Henry x model 44mag with extreme hunters or 1950’s marlin 336SC 30-30 with 170 grain nontypicals. Love them all
AR platform 450 bushmaster. But my all time favorite is my .284 Winchester. I have one with a 1903 Springfield action, but I also have Dad's model 88 for nice weather. Best round ever made!
1st choice is a 1953 Marlin in .35 Remington. Hornady Lever Ammo 200 grains. When a bear is a real possibility, Savage 110 300 Win Mag, 180 grain Federal blue box ammo.
Congratulations! Love hunting 3a. Didn’t go this passed season due to a torn rotator cuff. Remington 760 Gamemaster 30-06. Been hunting with that rifle for over 20 years.
Savage 110 30-06. 150 grain hornady whitetail. Shot my buck in archery back in September (2B), shot 2 doe back to back pretty much just like this the 2nd week of rifle season. Nice job!
Remington 700 BDL DM stainless with Hogue Stock. 140 grain core lokt ultras. 3-9x Leupold vx-1. Had this gun for probably 15-16 years and I just love it to hunt with! Not the best tack driver I have but just a great hunting rifle!
I have a Remington 700 Mountain DM in .30-06 that loves Hornady Superformance 165 gr. SST's and a Remington 700 ADL Laminate chambered in .270 Win. that drives tacks with 140 gr. Hornady American Whitetail SP's. It also loved the 140 gr. Superformance SST's, but it was like killing a deer with a frag grenade! I shot one doe with them and found copper and plastic from one end to the other when processing the deer, and it was a 125 yard broadside shot! The Interlocks seem to hold together much better and I have always gotten an exit wound. I love my Remington 700's, but the last few years the quality wasn't the same as mine. My 700 Mountain rifle was bought new in 2003 and ADL was manufactured in 2004, but I bought it unfired in the box in 2016. The ADL Laminate is a truly beautiful rifle...deep, shiny bluing and a blonde/dark laminate stock. The Mountain rifle was only made for one year, and is pretty much a safe queen now.
I had the frag problem with the Hornady 130 grain Super Performance SST's and as a consequence lost a tooth biting down on copper. Not fun and not cheap to get a new tooth.
Hey Grant it's been awhile. Always a good time with u up at the family cabin, that's some nice area. We had 2 hanging this past pa buck season and had a great week. I shoot a 760 game master 30.06 150 grain rem core. This rifle has been in my hunting family for 40+ years. As always a awesome video thanks. Looking forward to SHED HUNT.
Winchester model 70 chambered in 30/06 loaded with 165 gr sierra HPBT gameking over 57gr of IMR 4350 Savage 111 chambered in 7mm-08 shooting a 162gr hornady sst over a hefty charge of IMR 4350 but haven't settled on a final load yet.
I have 2 model 700 s and both shoot dime size 3 shot groups at 100 yards. Your 3006 is a great choice. You will have many years of success with it. Back straps forever!
a few years ago, my wife and i went deer hunting, i sit on the ground and my wife sits in a box stand. i put her in her stand and walked to an old road, i sat on my turkey stool, pulled out my phone to text her. i looked up and a 10-point buck stepped out, i put the phone down picked up my 660 rem. in 6mm rem. caliber, loaded with an 85gr Sierra BTHP gameking with a full charge of IMR 4831 and dropped him dead in his tracks! the shot was 100yds and the hunt was about 20 sec!
Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 308. Topped with a Leupold VX1 3-9. Shooting Winchester’s Deer Season XP 150 grain. It’s a great little scout rifle that I focus on still hunting and stalking bucks with, works great.
Remingtom 760 -.270 for years,in my stand a Rem 700 removeable magazine 30-06 , me new rifle is a Rem 7600 -30-06 with a vortex venom red dot, this is awesome when you walk for miles doing deer drives in the Adirondacks
1971 vintage Model 700 BDL in .30-'06. Handloads using 165 grain Sierra btsp at a little over 2900 fps. Chronographed. No signs of excess pressure. Shoots just under 1 MOA.
Congrats Grant! What a great hunt! My Remington 7600 30-06 is my favorite and go to deer rifle. I shoot 165gr also. I feel that's the best all around for deer. I did stop using the core lokt's though because I got tired of having to track blood trails. I use Hornady superformance 165gr sst's now and I think 50 yards is the farthest I've ever had one run, most drop on the spot and I've killed a lot of deer with that setup. Will be looking forward to your next video.
Congrats on the success. Way to fill the freezer. I'm a 1975 Remington .243 with Leupold scope shooting 95 grain Hornady Superformance. Total tack driver
I shoot whitetails with a Kimber M84 Montana in 257 Roberts. My go to load is 41.5 grains of IMR 4350 using a 100 grain Nosler Partion bullet. This combination works well for PA and WV whitetails. Most drop in their tracks. I look forward to using this rifle - bullet combo each year!
My Remington 700 .30-06 loves the Winchester 150-grain power points. I want hunt deer with anything else. The Exit hole is unbelievable. That my go to deer round. In my opinion. Best of luck.
Last few have been with my TC Venture loaded with Federal Premium Trophy Copper .308 150 grain. I recently picked up a beautiful Remington 700 BDL 30-06. Not sure what ammo I’ll use in that. I have tons of core lokt to play around with.
Congrats on a great hunt! I have several but my primary rifle is a JC Higgins model 51 bolt action 30-06 with a Redfield wide angle 3x9 scope. The gun has a Mauser action made in Belgium and shoots great .Probably from the 60’s. I shoot Remington 150 GR Corelokt ammo.
Early ‘80s Remington 700 - left handed as well. I shoot handloads; 165 gn Sierra Gamekings, 57.5 gn IMR4831. Consistent and reliable performer. Recently in western TX, two shots brought home two deer, one of which was a good 10 pt. For your fellow hunters who tease you on your LH bolt gun, use this come-back: The right side of our brains controls functions on the left side of the body. Following that logic, if you are left handed you are in the right frame of mind.
My whole family uses the semi-auto Remington, whether its the 742, the 740, or the 7400, all in the 30-06 caliber. I like 150 grain bullets, but I steer clear of the ballistic tips. I think they damage too much meat, and I don't mind the deer running a short way, its an .06, it won't run far. lol
Savage model 110 In .270 caliber with a Hornady 150 grain GMX ballistic tip! Or Browning A Bolt in .243 WSSM with a 140 Grain Hornady GMX ballistic tip…. Keep up the great job boys good luck out there! I would love to hunt with y’all some time as I’m in ur area! I have access to private farm land and I hunt MD maybe same spots as you all!! Let’s go boys!! 👊👍
I use a savage 30-06,150-165 grain hornady s,and also a Winchester xpr 243,100 grain hornady or Winchester. I have killed more with my 243,but I like my 06 too.
Right on good hunt 👍 I have a BLR 7MM-REM-MAG with 165 Winchester xp 308 Savage with 175 Winchester xp 30-30 Marlin with 170 Winchester xp All depends where I'm hunting 👍
My main rifle is my Remington model 700 in 30-06. But I do have my grandpas old Remington 760 in 30-06 and I do take it out from time to time as that’s the only way we get to hunt together anymore.
Brand new browning x bolt western hunter. In 6.8 western shooter the browning 175 grain rounds this will be the first season using November 19 2022 opening day new york.
Congratulations on ur hunt , I use a Remington model 700 sps tactical 308 with a 4-12x60 vortex sonorna scope and shoot a seller & bellet 308 168 gr BTHP bullet , best rifle I ever had , and can wait to get my other Remington model 700 chambered in a 30-06

Congratulations sure brings back memories of being in the woods with family and friends, I hope to one day get back out. Ok what do I use well in Remington 270 a 130gr sst bullet with 59grains of h1000 powder, in Remington 30:06 I use 150gr Hornaday eld bullet with imr 4064 sorry will have to look up all charges.
Congratulations Grant. I use a 1903a3 with 57.0 grains of Winchester 6.5 powder and a 165 Hornady cx bullet. I have never had to track a deer using that combination. My scope is a VX5HD from Leupold
Ruger American 7mm-08 with Leupold 3x9 scope. Hornady Full Boar factory ammo in 139 gr. GMX. I also have a Remington 700 in .30-06. 150 gr. Barnes TTSX.
Good job. I took a mature doe, then a button buck last fall, shooting the button buck only at most fifteen seconds later, shooting both with my Ruger M77 .30-06.
Got a dear this year with a 308 with a 168 barnes ttsx, wicked round no tracking. Next year im going to either go bow or use a 300wm using 200gr federal terminal ascent for bear. Buddy of mine uses a 30-06 great round. Pretty much any 30 cal round will put the brown down with ease. In fact i think its pretty overkill for most deer.
Try Hornady 145gr Precision Hunter ELD-X, best .270 ammo I have ever shot. Only drops 6 inches at 300 yards and delivers over 2225 ft/lbs of energy at 200 yards.
@@KevinHuff23 I’ll check it out. It’s been difficult to find .270 in the stores near me but hopefully that changes in the near future. I may just order the components and load my own. Probably no better than factory ammo but it’s rewarding to handload hunting rounds.
Hello, I use Federal Premium Accubond 185 gr for fallow deer here in the old country (Czech republic). The last doe was hit on the liver and went 60 yds. For wild boars is better little bit heavier hammer, 200 gr Lapua Mega or 220 gr Federal Shok. The slower and heavier bullets work fine for red stags, boars and other heavy game.
I used the 700 BDL with core locks for years. This year I used a Ruger American In 30/06 with Norma 150 grain whitetail ammo. Never hunted deer with anything other than the 30/06. Thanks again guy’s at Everyday Outdoorsmen. 👍🇺🇸🎥🥇

That is wonderful Cal choice..It seems most of our fellow hunters use 30 06 with wrong tip. You and I only speak with term,'dropping on spot'.
REM 700!
hornady 150 grain Sst superformance ammo.
Leupold 3-10 cds dial setup! Shooting sub moa! Tac driver
Congratulations Grant. I use a 1903a3 with 57.0 grains of Winchester 6.5 powder and a 165 Hornady cx bullet. I have never had to track a deer using that combination. My scope is a VX5HD from Leupold
Thank you!
Ruger American 7mm-08 with Leupold 3x9 scope. Hornady Full Boar factory ammo in 139 gr. GMX. I also have a Remington 700 in .30-06. 150 gr. Barnes TTSX.
Remington 742 30-06 carbine Iron sights. 180 grain Remington corelok
I now hunt with a Ruger American chambered in .270 Winchester. My ammo is Nosler Trophy Grade 130 grain accubonds. Great video!
Thank you!
Good job.
I took a mature doe, then a button buck last fall, shooting the button buck only at most fifteen seconds later, shooting both with my Ruger M77 .30-06.
Ruger American Predator 308. 165gr Hornady superformance sst. paired up with a nikon buckmasters 3-9. Has worked well so far!
I use 2 rifles an Encore .308 Stainless with 165 Gr. Coreloc. and a Remington 742 Bushmaster basket weave stock 30/06 165 grn. Balistic tips
Nice to finally see this epic hunt! Good job
Thanks Nate!
Same load as yours. Rem 700 ADL .30-06 165 gr. Corelokt
Was supposed to say Winchester model 70. 308
remington 760 gamemaster 30-06with winchester power points 180 grain
I’ve been using a Remington 700 CDL in .270. Handload Nosler ballistic tip 130gr. Works great.
Try Hornady 145gr Precision Hunter ELD-X, best .270 ammo I have ever shot. Only drops 6 inches at 300 yards and delivers over 2225 ft/lbs of energy at 200 yards.
Ryan, I agree. The Nosler Ballistic Tip in the 270 at 130 grains is a stopper!!
@@KevinHuff23 I’ll check it out. It’s been difficult to find .270 in the stores near me but hopefully that changes in the near future. I may just order the components and load my own. Probably no better than factory ammo but it’s rewarding to handload hunting rounds.
Savage Axis with Hornady black 168 grain, REM 700 with Federal Sierra gold match 168 grain
Congrats on the double 👍
Thank you!
Remington Model 700 'mountain rifle' .270 caliber. It's about 35 years old, a light weight version of the Model 700.
Remington 700 SPS 30-06 with 150 grain Federal Fusion.... Deer drop right in their tracks every time.
H&R break open 12ga w/ hornaday 300gr slugs.
Or rem 700 adl 22-250 w/ hand loads 55gr.
I use a browning a bolt medallion 30-06 with ppu rifle line soft tip 150 grain
Remington 700 SPS in 308 w/Magpull stock box magazine with a Zeiss 4-12 x50 scope 165 grain hollow pt
