@@garrysekelli6776 that sounds nice, but sadly wear I am the cost of living hasn't been fixed in generations and most people dont want to hire full time because they dont want to pay for healthcare, sick time and over time so most people have part time jobs or multiple jobs.
I wish so badly people would change and things would be cheaper because of this but unfortunately society here Carter's only to the lucky people able to get full time jobs and be higher class.

Random fact from a random stranger: My Grandma worked at the Vickers factory in Blackpool, operating a guillotine like machine, which cut the sheet metal for the fuselage for Wellington Bombers during WW2. 😊 When I go back to Britain, I think this place will be on my list of places to see.

Those rooms that u found are actually bomb shelters that were built in case of bombings during ww2

The strange small brick building close to the track were air raid shelters for the workers in the factory building the bombers seen later in the museum. The track never reopened because they cut though a very large part of the banked track to build a runway log enough to fly the planes they were making there. About 2/3 of it is still there but the parts missing have been built on with factory's , a supermarket and houses. Still lots to see, a great museum and excellent events .both car and bike.

Theres a street just down a block or 2 from me called Speedway Circle. Its an oval shaped neighborhood, and i always thought it was called that simply due to the layout, but ive been wrong for so many years. A local man, Cal Johnson, was a slave during the late 1800s until he was freed and became a prominent business man opening bars and saloons throughout the local community. He went on to open a horse track that would eventually turn into auto racing at the turn of the 20th century just before homes entered the area a couple decades later. I often find myself circling this block and imagine the sound of stampeding horses racing the turns among a track full of dirt while fans waved their hats and screamed for their favorite steeds.

The track was closed when WW2 began and never reopened. The main reason it will never function as a full circuit again is that portions of it have been built on by, ironically, the Germans. Mercedes Benz World is right next door. There’s a huge section of track abandoned opposite a large supermarket car park that was hacked in half to build a road. The museum does a lot of good work to preserve what they can.
That hill climb at the end with the bikes is also used for cars…

Thank you for showing this! I love Museums of transportation! Ya I feel ya on the Great Muppet Caper! I saw a double decker sitting rusting away at a junkyard near StL Missouri, sadly they finally removed it, the body Panels must’ve been made off aluminum, cuz it wasn’t rusted on thought Panels!

I’ve been there, I wish they would clear that track. And race vintage cars.

The track is not complete, areas of it have been built on. Plus the concrete has deteriorated too much over the entirety of the remaining track.

@@sjv6598 It definitely looks much better than it did a few years ago.

Double decker buses remind me of the Harry Potter movie the one that came and picked up Harry with a talking head
