Ordered mine and will be here Friday. Can’t wait! I sold my kindle scribe so I could have color and an easier to handle in size reading device for on the go. Super excited to get this.
Just buy clara or libra kobo. Altho I'll admit the kindle is still superior in performance and comic experience so if you need that then maybe u need after all.
I have owned 4 Kindles-from the very first model to the Colorsoft. The Colorsoft does what you said-it enhances the e-reader experience. If I only read black and white books, I’d stick with the wonderful Oasis, but my Kindle is loaded with a diverse library-with magazines, (Discover, National Geographic), graphic novels, non-fiction books, and even a few comic books-all of which are rich in colorful maps, photos and other illustrations. Thus, the Colorsoft is well worth it to me. It functions the same as the last generation Paperwhite, but now is enhanced with color. I’m really enjoying that enhancement.
Double the price for a Kindle with just color added is kinda crazy. It would be cool to have color, but not sure if it's is worth a 100% price increase when you'll only see the colors in books with graphics, or book covers on the home page...
If you can invent your own colour e-ink technology and display stack I'm sure you will see that the $100 difference is reasonable given the R&D involved.
All of this is def true. But it's also the cost of doing business. If they knocked $75 off the price you wonder if they'd sell more Kindles... And still end up with the same profit to cover R&D costs. Also, there is def a price to pay for consumers for bleeding edge tech!
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Agreed! Wondering how many other people would've also purchased it, if it was priced at $200. I wouldn't have even thought about the price, I would've just bought it...
I will be receiving mine today. My reading is mostly graphic novels and magazines so I think it will enhance my experience. I don't think it's much of a game changer for book readers.
I have a Boox Palma, Kindle Paperwhite Signature, Kobo Libre Color and now I'm getting this. It's worth it to me just to get the color. I am trading my Paperwhite, plus with the other incentives it only cost me $140.
@@HolographicCoaching The Palma is great for on-the-go reading. Very portable and an easy take-along. Also good where there is WiFi. It is actually a convenient eReader because of the small size which is easy to hold. But it is used less around home. It would be much more useful if it was color and a phone too.
I fancied treating myself with the best Kindle available, irrespective of price. It’s been a tough year.. just saying. Received today here in the UK.. will set up tomorrow .
I don't own one yet, I was just about to order it when I noticed that 25% of the Color Soft reviews were 1 star mostly due to customers annoyed by the defective units having yellow tinged screens at the bottom. It is a huge issue Amazon has on their hands right now, so you are not alone or fussy at all.
This is a great point and also my hang up. If it was $199, I suppose it would be an easier decision, I'm just not sure most people can justify the extra cost for the color covers. If you read a lot of comic books, probably worth it?
Just to see book covers in color, no. I'm getting mine to see color content in color - books can include color images, diagrams, maps and so on. I'm not even talking about comics, although quite a few will be interested in these. But seeing book covers in color is also nice, isn't it?
@alexsarbu3978 it's cool but probably not a game changer for most people who simply read normal books. I imagine this will sell well to comic book fans and Kindle fanatics. I think everyone else will wait for a more budget friendly color model.
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt I'm not waiting, though. I'd have to wait years for either better technology or lower price (and more for both). Or go Kobo, which I don't really want to do. There's no right and wrong choice here, it's all up to what we're reading, our preferences, and how much do we feel the price.
What about the missing LTE download function and the idiotic placement of the power button on the bottom so it's turning off by itself if you put it into a stand?
@@xl5man Are you positive? All the reviews online complain that it doesn't and that is one of the main reasons they all recommend the Paperwhite instead. In the settings it has the reduce brightness at night setting, but it does not replace or replicate the full on darkmode that the Paperwhite has, unless they did a software update yesterday or today to add a darkmode to the Color Soft
Someone posted a comparison on Reddit with a glossy screen protector and a matte one. I noticed the glossy made the colors way more vibrant, but also more glare, so it's a trade-off you'll need to compromise
Thanks for this video 😊 One quick question though : Do you have a yellow line at the bottom of your Kindle colorsoft screen ? I've seen another review talking about that issue... 😕 It's not something you can really see on camera hence my question.
@@deuswotan Oh, really? I wasn't aware of this, sorry. As it is the only colour Kindle right now there should be more chance of you getting it real soon. Are the Kindles in general released a little later in Mexico than the UK market?
3 major differences... Battery life, reading outside in direct sunlight and it reads like paper with no blue light. I think those are the biggest draws.
Holding off until Black Friday sales.
☝🏻 smart!! But waiting can be the hardest part. 😁
If something this new would even go on sale, or they probably knock the price to $249.99 at best 😂
That’s what I’m doing 😂
Why would they discount a highly anticipated colored e-ink device a month after release?

Kindle scribe is slick, but it is big and prob not worth it if you're not writing on it daily IMHO.
Also going to be selling my Kindle Scribe for the colour paperwhite, and with 20% discount will bring mine down to less than half price!
I did the same! Hope we be happy with this choice!
And if not... You can always sell and move on to the next. Lol We are all living the #GeekLife!
I just can't justify the price 😭
Me either…..

It'll be on sale for black friday, just hold out.

I’d say most worth it to those who have a lot of comics/manga on Kindle.
I cancelled my order and got latest paper white signature. Decided to wait for a more I price product
Paper white is an awesome kindle. Not a bad choice and I can't blame anyone for waiting for a second gen.
Think I will wait a couple of years until the colour Kindle basic is released
Color screens will be the only option in a few years. Premium price for early adopters. 😢
A lot of people are saying that the Kindle is dead. Your opinion?
@@ursulaoelofse4731By the time you buy the charger ect. your getting close to a basic ipad.
The price difference + the fact that it doesn’t have page turn buttons doesn’t justify switching from an 11, maybe even a 10 gen kindle.
I'm not sure about the lack of physical buttons. Will have to see if I dig that but I have a feeling all the models will go this way

100% but it sounds like you are the perfect user! Enjoy
Excellent hands-on review. You really gave us a chance to see the screen itself.
Thanks. Hope to post a more proper review soon but wanted to give y'all a close up look ASAP.
Yea can't wait till Friday
Very cool. 👏🏻 Enjoy

When do you use Boox Palma and when Paperwhite? I want to get Boox but not sure I’d get much use out of it
My thoughts exactly
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt I actually don't use the Boox Palma at all. I only bought it for travel. It's a nice gadget to have though.

On the screen??

What do the default wallpapers look like? Are they the black and white ones of the normal kindle or didferent ?

@ yes!! What kind of images are they ?
Pls show us the colored highlighters!!!

It's only $40 more isn't it?
Kobo is a great option too! I have a video on that one too

Very tempting!!
Did't see yellow strip?Somebody say it has yellow strip at the bottom of the screen?
I have not seen that on my device yet.

Wonder if they'll release a color Kindle scribe?
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt I'm not so sure they will yet due to limitations in the software along with the screen size of the Scribe?

If you are not a comic-book reader (I left comics decades ago) then a color Kindle is pointless.
Why do people like these devices? How is it any different than a tablet with color modifications?

Fair enough, price is a big factor.
OH BROTHER! THIS THING STINKS!!

Color on the Kindle app on my phone or iPad is way better than this. I prefer the better contrast on my black and white Kindle.
Not really fair to compare a phone or iPad to a Kindle. E-ink is an entirely different experience.
