    Material is such a science itself. In my opinion you can get used to everything new in a few minutes so it should not bother you at all. But thats way easier said than done. What makes you a good player is connecting your synapsis to create muscle memory which leads to good darts. So its practice > everything. I'm using medium stems JUST BECAUSE I looked at the T32 of the world and most of them do it. :D So I picked the weight of my darts (22g). But then comes the day when I put shorts on my set up and hit everything, just to **** my head up again...you just have to love the darts.

    Im glad you`ve brought this up from your flights video.....I was an aero engineer and how I have taught all my friends and players in my local team is if you throw hard and fast then you need a short or medium stem with kite flight but if you are a slow thrower or floater then its a long stem and standard flight is needed....Great video and good advice from a pro player

    Good article Matt. Just put some longer stems on my Whitlocks and the flight was certainly more level. Back to my shorter ones now and had a great practice; 45% on doubles and hit double top in all 5 legs of 501 including a 108 checkout for an 18 dart leg!

    The more surface you have where the air travels along, the more resistance you have to overcome. It's just the same with larger flights (No2) vs. small or kite flights. If I calculated correctly, the 14mm difference in stem length add roughly 248 sq mm of surface where the air has to travel along.

      Well said - the more surface area, the more drag.

      But unfortunately with darts there are so many variables that most of the time these numbers mean little to nothing ....

    Edgar thank you for answering some questions that have been rattling around in my head. I don’t think I have been playing long enough to have a consistent throw to arrive at concrete findings. I find that my darts go into the board pretty flat. Is it more desirable to have the dart stand up more. I guess what I want to know if it allows more room when hitting triples and doubles ? You have a new subscriber looking for dart knowledge. I am sure it will improve my game. I know that now I need a set of Matthew Edgar darts to go along with my Robin of Loxley darts.

    Also I thought of 2 video series.
    1. You could do a rundown of each player in the top 32 or something (e.g. their throw, their stance) and then suggest how they could improve.
    2. When the premier league comes around, you could do premier league predictions each week and invite a guest in every week or something.

    Curious if you have ever looked at the various stem lengths, as they relate to how the dart barrel itself is balanced? From the looks of it, your 'match darts' are relatively uniform in shape over the length, and likely center balanced. My question being, have you ever experimented with rear weighted or front weighted darts, and how stem length affects flight and angle of entry? I've read somewhere that the common thought on resolving stem length is that for shorter barrels, use longer shafts.. and for longer barrels use shorter stems. I suspect that there is a point of maximum effectiveness, whereby the relative distance from the balance point of the barrel and location of the flight works 'best'. Any thoughts on that? Asking specifically between I am a rear gripper, and I prefer to have a dart barrel with a 'wall' to get behind with finger placement. So this has led me to start experimenting with different shaft lengths and types of flights.

    You would need a parachute on the back to slow the dart that much. What is interesting is that you slowed your throw down so much without realising it. Presumably you subconsciously adjusted to get a nice flight path/board entry. It would be interesting to see video analysis of the very first throw with the long stem which I'd guess was just as fast as the short stem but looked horrible.

    I’ve recently changed from vapor flights on a medium and the speed they got to the board was insane. Had no stability value in them at all mind. With regard to speed to the board, why does it matter? Surely accuracy and consistent flight is the only thing that matters? I now use tweenie and standard which is obviously going to be slower than my old set up, but I can’t get my head round why so much effort to check the speed.

    The Edgar, I've got a question for you maybe you can answer, I always struggle between a 40 and a 60 avg. Some days I'm releasing the darts perfect (dart flies straight) so I'm getting my consistent 60s / 85s / 100s and other days my dart wobbles left and right and I just can seem to buy a 20 (all 1s and 5s). Any ideas on how to correct that?

  • @AGClassicCarTuning
    @AGClassicCarTuning 2 роки тому

    I can't help but think that there is an acceleration due to gravity at the end of the darts flight to the board. Upward thrust fizzles out and gravity takes over. It would account for the steeper angle of entry and the slightly faster speed. The longer dart maybe generates enough turbulence to support the dart in flight much longer before gravity takes over. I wonder what would happen using the same model of dart only 4g lighter or heavier?

      You wonteven notice the day when it changes , justlike i forgit how i had this feelings months ago until readingyour comment. Also to Vagina bit confidence just go for easy goals like hitting a few Singles or playingareound the click on doubles. Give yourself 3 darts for each double starting at 1 sometimes i hit two or three. This way i read saw the effect of my mind being locker in on a Target and gain cofindence in my throw , because no Matter on which double i have to check out in a match, i got plenty good memories of hitting that exactly double. Also i hit the double 3 so ofteneven though i always thought i was bad at it
