- Before Gravity Falls became a full cartoon on Disney Channel, series creator Alex Hirsch needed to convince Disney executives that it should be greenlit. After the Gravity Falls pilot, he included a special "Next Time On..." reel that teased Dipper and Mabel's supernatural adventures. After more than a decade of being lost media, this Gravity Falls pilot reel has been found in its entirety.

Also the pilot looks pretty good, it would have absolutely convinced me if I was one of the executives
For a bit more context, the reason the Gravity Falls pilot had a "Next time" reel was because Arrested Development also did the same thing, and Hirsch was inspired by that; Not only did the reel help with the success in getting Gravity Falls greenlit, but it's also the reason why practically every other Disney TVA pilot since then has had some form of a "Next time" reel included in of themselves; Fish Hooks, Wander Over Yonder, Very Important House, Amphibia, The Owl House, Club Sandwich, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Billy Dilley are just a handful that include such reels (Though the latter two purely include animated segments of a selected moment from the pilot animatic itself, which is still a common practice for most modern Disney TVA pilots)

Honestly, I feel like this would be what Gravity Falls would look like if it focused more on the supernatural rather than the mystery aspect of it.
I’d like to see a show in this particular art-style. It makes me rather curious as to what could’ve been if the style stuck the way it did in the pilot.
Why does the look of the pilot change afterwards?
Bluey’s original pilot for example from 2016 had different designs too.

From Spongebobs lost media to now Gravity falls media being found it’s like a piece of lost gold treasure for the animation industry.
Also, one person also dropped the pilot storyboards for "The Owl House" just recently.... What's next... the pilot to "The Weekenders"!? 😅

I've seen a first episode of the pilot, which is the same as the series' first episode. and one thing I'm glad they changed is the journal.
Lost Media Time
The art style looks so different. It looks much brighter. I saw the original pilot a while ago and it blew my mind how different it was

It's awesome to finally have this out now. I'd been hoping since the Alfredo reel was found in 2022 that this day would come and here we are. Alongside it, the Pitch Bible for Gravity Falls was also leaked and in it are a ton of insane episode ideas that never ended up happening (Mabel won a Nobel prize in one, lmao). We also found out the names of the creepy twins were The Peaks Twins (100% a Twin Peaks nod). It's crazy all this happened only 2 weeks after Alex Hirsch talked about this in the interview me and Hana had with him. Lost Media really won this week.

1. Nobody's Fault probably was the prototype for Mabel's Fault (the geological aftermath of Weirdmageddon)
2. @2:09 outhouse referenced in the comics (Mabel's face gets stolen)
3. the UFO was later scrapped and turned into a season 3 plot point
4. @2:53 prototype of the barn owned by that Blind Society member who goes commando underneath the robe

Yeah, I think April/may will be the best time of the year for lost media fans this year. The Ulterior Motives song was just found too, but it was made for a movie with… adult topics, despite its catchiness.

Actually, if im not wrong, im preety sure that the original goal of this reel was to get thsi red lit, cuz alex wanted to make an adult show, and disney was desprete, so when he got greenlit cuz hes too bad at making bad stuff, he was like "ya know what? Im not gonna pass the opretunity to finally make a show! Weather its just for adults or not, im gonna make this show a banger."

I know that with this pilot, and the other pilots of the other series, they were leaked and we were able to see what these series would originally be like.
But I'm worried that this massive leak could affect Disney and that the reputation of the studio is already almost in the ground.
(Let's hope the pilot of my childhood series Kid V.S Kat is also leaked, if there was a pilot)
