Thank you for this video. It saved me form having to pay for an expensive repair call when it was (somewhat) easily fixable. I ended up needing to try the hair dryer as everything else seemed operational. I spent about 5 minutes heating the fill tube ( in 2 separate attempts) and did get a small chunk out. It still didn't seem to work, so I did the same to the area on the fridge side that connects to the freezer. I also had some ice chunks fall out from that. After that, it didn't immediately start flowing water so I stopped for the evening. But when I went to the fridge the next day, it was full of ice! Clearly something did get unclogged from all the heating. Thanks again.
Hahaha ironically, as I'm watching this video wondering why it seemed like my ice maker stopped producing ice, I heard the sound of ice dropping. No worries, everything is cool now.

My family and I moved to a new house from apartment and we never knew ice makers existed in a fridge. Every singe time I used ice the next day the tray was full again. I was so confused and wondered where the ice came from🤣 we used to use the ice trays, but these r genius and saves so much time
The ice maker makes ice once in awhile. Lowest temp I've seen is 30° and only the lowest coil on the evaporator is frosted over, but still managed to make ice a couple days ago (hasn't made ice since).
We turned off our icemaker momentarily because I pulled the tray out to dump the ice in a cooler. Apparently long enough to freeze the front part of the feed tube. I used a hairdryer to thaw it out but now my fridge and freezer seem to be running warm and I hope that was just from my in and out of it and simple heat from the blow dryer. What should be 0 and 37F is supposedly right now at 10 and 39F. I'm kind of hoping that the temperature gauge is just a little faulty. The ice still froze and dropped some after I thawed it.
thanks for this. after the correct freezer temperature is reached, how will water know to be sent to the water inlet valve? Is this where the ice maker thermostat & ice maker motor module come into play?
my ice maker ice tray isn't getting any water & the water lines & water inlet valves are new. I'm wondering if the ice maker's motor module may be having an issue telling the water inlet valve to send water.
Is there anyway to thaw out a water line that is blocked by ice without taking a blow dryer to it. I don’t know how to get to the water line on my moms whirlpool refrigerator. I’m going to go to your website and enter the model number, I hope you have a video with our fridge.
After watching some arctic exploration documentaries I searched "How do ice breakers work" with a typo and it led me to this... very interesting to find out about my fridge nonetheless, lol
12:16 AM and I'm from México 🇲🇽😂😅 I literally wanted to better understand how my new fridge's ice maker machine works haha... I had a French door refrigerator and so it got fucked up, so we bought this new Frigidaire refrigerator with two doors, water supply and ice maker, but to be honest with you, I've never had one of those haha I mean, it's nothing compared to my old refrigerator.
I thought I was in the 'no defrosting' refrigerator generation, but evidently not. A huge chunk of ice formed where the water was dispensed to go to the ice tray. Thank you for the video; the blowdryer saved me. However, the water dispenser on the outside (of the door) is super slow-3 drips per second. Eh, another day! I have ice! Margaritas anyone? Cheers!!
Mine makes ice but won't dump it into the dispenser. I have taken it apart several times and it just keeps making ice but it never leaves the tray after it freezes. Should the sweep that pushes the ice out, move freely if pushed by hand? I was wondering if it's the little motor that runs it? This is my first ice maker and I am pretty clueless but I have taken it all out and thawed any possible blockages.
I bought an electrolux refrigerator a few years ago and never hooked up the water to the icemaker. I finally had someone run a new water line to the fridge and now my "New" icemaker will not work. Where do I start?
How is the water level assessed? Float sensor, timer, etc. How is the frozen state of the ice assessed? Simple timer or timer modified by measured temperature? Are the cubes released by mechanical means or is momentary heat applied to release the cubes? Oh well, maybe you can keep feeding the DIY parts cannon for a few more years.
If it didn’t say, then don’t leave the freezer door open for too long because then the ice will melt then when you close it, then the melted ice (water) will freeze making it not being able to dispense ice. That just happened to me
Mine has ice but sometimes the ice bin fills with water and its just a big block of ice. Few to no ice cubes. Could it be a heating problem? Do I need a new ice maker or can this be fixed?
My ice maker is making ice very well......good sized cubes and a lot of them. It does, however, make these nice icicles all over everything on the shelves below. There is also a frozen stream of ice down the front of the ice basket and the shelves below on the door. Any suggestions?
+Sharon Colotta It sounds like the icemaker is overfilling which could be due to a defective icemaker, low water pressure, or a problem with the valve itself.
I have a Frigidaire that has had the icemaker replaced twice now, so 3 total icemakers in less than a 1 yr and 1/2. We get ice fine, but with the arm down it knocks really loud about 12 times like someone is at the door. All 3 have done this. Frigidaire said since longer than a year, we are on our own. The arm is what is making the sound. It is down but bumps up and goes back down. We now leave it up to stop getting woken up in the night, then put it down every couple days to keep up with ice. Any ideas! Thank you-Stacy
Glad to know I’m not the only one who is here out of curiosity. I just wanna know why they’re called cubes when they’re crescents and there must be a reason for that shape and yeah here I am.
My Whirlpool Frenchdoor Icemaker still makes ice, but the arm keeps getting stuck in the up position and will not come down after pushing out ice. Can I get a part replaced, and not the whole ice maker? It's so expensive! WRX735SDBM04

Hello how are you ? The ice maker gets water but it doesn’t frizz the water to make ice ... what could be the problem??? I would a very much appreciate your help....thanks
My icemaker is not getting water I replaced the inlet valve and the blades that eject the ice are turning but its not telling the valve to open to send water
Im not good at english: The icecubes of my refrigerator are too big. It is hard to explain, but i hope u guys understood it. Music4Chipmunk The fill cycle for the icemaker is timed by the module. Most likely the module is defective or there is a problem with the valve that supplies water to the refrigerator.
Hi , Is there any product that can cool water from 40-45 C to 10-25 C instantly and continuously ?? If there isn't , Is it possible to make one or do you design and make any product as such ?
Can't find any information on how the button/switch/sensor on the door communicates with the ice unit in the freezer (can't see any wiring from the door to the fridge - what's the answer?
The water supply is good...but it doesn't go into the ice maker. Instead, it splatters all over the back wall of the freezer and coats the items in lower shelves. im trying to figure out how t loosen 2 screws that dont need to be tight in the first place???? the ice maker tray just hang s on them next time need a fridge ill remember that.
What if I replace the ice-maker and the ice-maker fails to make ice? I made sure it was in the on (arm down) position. I then used a jumper using the appropriate terminals and it still failed to harvest. While the jumper was still on the terminals, I used a voltage detector to determine if voltage was present in the jumper wire...it was. I then took my voltmeter, unplugged the harness and measured the voltage at 108Volts coming from the harness testing from the black and white connections. The minimum voltage is 110V. The connection comes out of the divider wall as it is on a S x S. No connections found near the ADC. No wiring in the rear and none in the front. The schematic was missing.
The ice maker should still work with 108 volts. Is the voltage at the plug also 108 or is it higher? If the voltage is higher at the wall plug you may have a broken neutral wire and are getting your neutral from the frame. Check where the wires come in at the bottom of the door and make sure they are not broken. We don’t have a model number so we cannot look up the wiring for you .
I had an idea of a broken or poorly connected neutral. I will get you a model number. This unit works from a light sensor instead of an arm. Is it possible the light sensor is bad? The red light flashes even when the flapper is held down and the door switch is held. It supposed to be a solid red. I have the testing procedure on how to test. But even if there is current, it will not work without a neutral. I checked voltage from the outlet, it read 120V. The unit has a missing ground prong from the plug. Not good. Something could have shorted and possibly caused this problem. Thank You for your help.

What controls the inlet value? Does the ice maker have a built in thermistor and send a signal and the valve opens to let water into the trays?
We turned off our icemaker momentarily because I pulled the tray out to dump the ice in a cooler. Apparently long enough to freeze the front part of the feed tube.
