Hi, Lee. Not surprised to find you here. And yes, this is a huge gift. Discover will be the first orchestral library I've been able to afford and fit on my laptop, which is all I currently have to work with for a DAW host. --Phil K

Value wise, really the only things close are East West composer cloud subscriptions. Affordable but its a subscription and if something like Covid kills your regular income you might just find yourself unable to afford the subscription. Theres also the Armadeus libraries and the Garriton stuff, but those really are mockup-only stuff and kinda fall apart with high complexity. I'll grant BBC discover isnt really much more than that either (No legatos! and very basic articulations), for the absolute beginner its an absolute winner. I ended up cancelling my composer cloud subscrtiption and forking out the $300 for the Core library to get those legatos and articulations and I'm *not* regretting it

I’ve filled in the questionnaire as I’ve been furloughed, as soon as I’m back at work I’m going to pay for it. I bought Albion One and strongly believe that if you can afford something then you should pay for it. This offer from Spitfire is what offers some hope for humanity. Thank you folks!

I owe you an apology. A few days ago I was questioning how much you'd done with the opportunity of working with the BBC, today had simply blown me away, ambition, purpose, generosity, everything. Bravo Christian, Paul and everyone at Spitfire! You should be very proud.

It is so real, and inspiring , I bought Core for myself this Christmas. Excellent introduction. To mis-quote my favourite Seasonal movie "Tell Santa he made me a Spitfire shopper. Any store that puts the parent ahead of the buck at Christmas deserves my business. I'm coming here for everything but toilet paper." Thank you Christian, Paul and the gang. Merry Christmas.

I'm in South Africa and at any time, a $ sign in front of anything elicits a wistful "Well, that would have been nice to have." The ZAR/$ exchange makes it almost impossible for us to be able to afford anything worthwhile if there's a $ involved (I nearly broke the bank buying the Spitfire libraries I own, but it was worth every cent, and they've paid for themselves long ago!) But right now, as a full time freelancer who like most of us has had the carpet pulled out from under us and there is almost no income, even $49 is equal to nearly R1000 (you read that right,) and that kind of money will keep a small family fed for a month, so priorities come first. In short, thank you for seeing the situation for what it is, guys, and making your incredible work available to those who right now simply cannot afford it. But trust me, when this is all over, work is back to normal (and we can once again also watch the Springboks beat England at Rugby,) I'll be buying the full Spitfire BBCSO!

I know how you feel. Sometimes my clients act like the 50 dollar commissions I do isn't a serious job. But 50 dollars is more than a week worth of salary where I live. (brazil). Plus, some of my clients are from Arabia, South America, and Africa. So the 50 dollars THEY pay for my work isn't little either.

I continue to be blow away by the whole spitfire ethos. You guys are wonderful. Not only the standard of the samples but the great humanity to both bring to the industry. I would actually be quite lonely if it were not for Chistians insane blogs and pauls 'mister mellow" walk throughs. I never comment YT videos but here I had too.
To start orchestral music, there is a huge barrier to entry. If you want something decent, you'll have to pay approx 1k which is not an option for most of beginners. What you've done is an unexpected and unprecedented opportunity to start with a "minimum viable product" and then invest in a Core or a Pro update. I really like your step by step approach and I really want to thank you, Paul and all the Spitfire audio team for the opportunity you're giving us.

This is very generous and I'm truly thankful. You're one of the few companies that understands how difficult it is for musicians in the developing world to afford nice tools for making music. I don't know if you are a believer but you ARE doing God's work. Thank you.

I happily paid for the Discover version. Perfect timing. I just discovered Cubase and had created some orchestral guitar backing. I felt it sounded "fine" but "a little synthy". Enter BBCSO Discover. Lovely library and more important for me as a beginner, I can build up using it until I find I need something more (and you can bet it will be BBC Orchestra )
