Some other good Poison songs: Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Life Goes On, Fallen Angel, Talk Dirty to Me, I Won’t Forget You, Ride The Wind, just to name a few
You know Bis, when I was a teenager, I wasn’t big into Poison, I liked heavier bands, now…since I lost my dad, my mom has dementia…I feel this song now…has meaning it didn’t have for me back then. Thanks for playing it….
This song is about Bret Michael’s (singer) bodyguard who fell into drugs and died, and a cousin who was wounded in Vietnam. The song talks about loss, addiction, and the reality of war. From a wider lens, it's about Bret's mental struggle with all this, the general awful stuff that happens in life, and his loss of faith.
The Tears were for real.. They hadn't told him his pictures would be shown, they wanted his reaction to be for real... This song will touch your Soul.. 20/20 Hindsight, something we wish we all had
Poison was one of the first bands I remember getting my attention when I was a boy. Very under appreciated 80's rock band! I've seen them live 3 times and they deliver....hell yes these guys can play! This is their most famous ballad with "every rose" a close second. They have quite a few bangers too. "Fallen angel", "ride the wind", "flesh and blood", "life loves a tragedy ", "nothing but a good time ", "come hell or high water" to name a few. Plus they do excellent covers. Especially "can't ya see" by Marshall Tucker Band, and "American band" by grand funk. I will also say C C Deville is criminally under appreciated as a lead guitarist. His solos shred!
Brett Michaels voice is awesome! Luv this song because I can relate with his loss of good friends and the family struggles with daily life stresses! Sometimes it does feel like you lose faith but thank god there's always hope! "Something to Believe In" is a great ballad from the 80's! ❤ I told you Biss, the 80's has some of the best music ever! Thanks for sharing Biss ❤️💛🤘🏻
The part about his best friend is true. During the shooting of the video, he had to stop. If you look...watch his facial expression......you can tell he's about to break down.

Oh, hell yeah! This is a good one. You can probably tell, but Poison was a glam rock hair band in the 80s, into the 90s, that were probably the end of that era, and were basically screwed when Grunge, which was basically the opposite of all that, came along and killed it. In the Late 2000s, the lead singer Bret Michaels had a reality show where a bunch of women competed to date him, or something like that. Though by that point, you would always see him wearing a bandana covering the top of his head because he'd gone bald on top. "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is another one of their best songs that's a slower one like this one. The rest of their songs were usually more upbeat, and usually had something to do with sex, like "Nothing But A Good Time", "Unskinny Bop", and "Talk Dirty To Me". They were very much of that time and scene, but were one of the good ones. Like, they probably weren't as good as Motley Crue, but they were up there.

The guitar solo in this rivals the one in Motley's "Home Sweet Home" Also, During the filming of the video, unbeknownst to Michaels, the director had inserted footage of James Kimo Maano, his bodyguard and friend, which was playing on a screen in front of Bret. This was done to try to draw an emotional reaction from Michaels. It worked so well that Michaels lost his composure and had to leave the set for several hours. On the final cut of the video, during the second verse, Michaels can be seen visually holding back tears as he momentarily stops singing.
I remember seeing them in concert and when they played this song.. All the audience took out their lighters and light them and held them high, lots of hugging and swaying.. It was a song that brought everyone to a quiet time to share in an amazing song.....

Hello Biss, excellent choice this song really moves you, this song was dedicated to the band' s bodyguard and friend who passed away (he was shown in some parts of the video.
One of the best power ballads from the 80s. Such heartfelt lyrics, & the melody is beautiful. Saw these guys, along with Slaughter…fantastic show. (Say Biss…if you haven’t yet, I highly suggest “Fly to the Angels”..by Slaughter. )
Bon Marley had once said, "If we could inject Love and Music into all humans that we could Cure all hate".. Jimi Hendrix said, “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” I like to believe that could happen.

Was never really a fan of theirs but over time I've come to like a few of their albums. This song though is a masterpiece & also really loved the song Fallen Angel. I can listen to their first 2 albums all day these days.
Great great party band!!! I love Poison. CC Deville is way underrated as a guitarist, mainly because he played to uplift the song rather than boost his ego. I had to watch it again!!! This was probably at the peak of their popularity I would imagine. I just loved the vibe from their music. So much fun. It was like a party in the cab of my pickup truck cruising the sticks, windows down and cheap aftermarket cassette tape player blasting so the whole world could join the party. Doing 70 mph down old country roads leaving a dust cloud behind that I sure looked like some rocket gone sideways from any angels floating around and watching. Sliding around corners on the same gravel roads. How I'm still alive I have no idea. What a time it was.

There are many more Poison songs for you to discover but please at least check out their song Life Goes On if not just for the killer guitar showing C.C. at his best! This doesn't really have anything to do with the song, and is maybe insensitive to bring up after that song, but I'm going to shoot my shot. He mentions Palm Springs in the song, which is a place in the desert a couple hours East of Los Angeles, that has been a popular holiday destination for decades. It was particularly popular for famous Hollywood celebrities, probably going back as far as the 20s or 30s, but definitely since the 50s. In my lifetime, when I was a kid in the 80s, Palm Springs was one of maybe a few places in the country that were the main places that college kids from all over the country would go to party on their spring break. Just packed with drunk college kids, naked girls hanging out of hotel windows, etc. It finally got so bad that there were riots against the police. It was crazy. I don't know why, but my parents would take us there as children. Like we weren't part of the party, but we'd just for some reason go at the same time it was happening, and there would be 3 cops standing on every corner. Eventually the old people that lived there had enough, and changed the laws to make it difficult for anyone to have that kind of fun, and spring break just migrated somewhere else. Probably Lake Havasu, but Palm Springs became more quiet, but it's still fairly popular since it's close enough to LA that it's an easy get away. Anyway, I just wanted to remind you of a previous movie suggestion I made to you, probably on your "Groundhog Day" reaction, of a newer movie called "Palm Springs", which is kind of like a new modern take on the Groundhog Day concept. It came out, I think on Hulu, just as the pandemic started, so I feel like it kind of slipped through the cracks, and didn't get noticed by many people, but I think it's really good. I think there's only like one or two people on UA-cam to have reacted to it, but I think more people should check it out.
Interesting first Poison song choice…great song of course, very deep and lots of others to choose from. Bit of trivia…Slash was almost picked as guitarist but CC was a better choice for the band.
A song of disillusionment and loss. Heroes fall into hypocrisy. Friends and family fail us and themselves. With maturity comes the realization that Institutions and Ideals are often corrupt and not what they seem. The world can be a cold heartless place because…people. BUT, it’s also can be incredibly beautiful because of people. The history of the world sadly has always been a few rich and the masses are poor, BUT, in modern times even most poor live at a higher standard of living by far than the poor of the past that itwould have been considered luxurious by comparison . Still many suffer and we need to do more to help. BUT keep the Faith 🍪💜
I never knew it till I saw someone say something about it. I remember I caught a glimpse of a pastor going to prison on TV when I was young but never knew the details. The pastor in the beginning went to prison for theft pretty sure. Sure one of your viewers knows more details than I do.
The 69 Eyes Dance D'Amour video please. The Lost Boys on your movie channel, followed by The 69 Eyes Lost Boys video would be epic. A Romanian vampire should meet The Helsinki vampires 🎃
Great pick, Biss. "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" was a much bigger hit, but this one is, by far, the superior song.
Absolutely, agree 💯
Many will argue with me.. CC is one of the best and most underrated guitarist out there.

Flesh & Blood (Sacrifice) next by Poison 🔥🤘
Maybe in the future
Great song! Also love "valley of lost souls" from the flesh n blood album.
HEY, Bisscute....What are you doing in Germany?? You belong over here with us in the States. Keep-a-rockin, Love. See ya on the next. Peace. Later.
NICE!!😃
Your accent is so cute
The opening I believe is about a specific tv preacher but overall about how they steal from people to live lavish lifestyles
Never was the biggest Poison fan. I liked LA Guns
