They never disclosed why he got cut from the teams though, how does someone who was that much of a legend in high school football get thrown under the bus even though his college film was good and his combine stats were at an elite level?
He never really succeeded all that much in college what on earth makes you think he could make it in the NFL. He got rocked in the Big 10 for the season he was there getting 43 carries for 168 yards in conference play. He never had so much as a 100 yard game against a power conference school in college. Nearly 900 yards rushing as a career high at Rice isn't exactly tearing it up. He didn't make it in the NFL because honestly he just couldn't compete against elite athletes. He also doesn't have combine stats because he wasn't invited to the combine so don't know what the fuck you are talking about their. Pro day stats aren't the same thing.
Well just as someone mentioned in the Above Comments He was Misused by The College Coach because some Coaches are to Egotistical to know how to give a Special Player such as Sam Mcguffie the Right kind of Vote of Confidence, But the greatest Issue is that He should have went to a School that Needed Him, Rice didn't need Him nor did Michigan but the wanted Him for the Attention that it brought the Schools, So why speak that way about the Stats instead of being Intelligent enough to understand the Dynamics of what Goes on behind the Scenes, So I guess that's expecting to much from you because you much have been a SCORE KEEPER STATISTIC CHARTER IN SCHOOL & NOT AN ATHLETE, YOU RAN THE SCORE CLOCK AT SCHOOL OBVIOUSLY WHO HAD NO ATHLETIC SKILL BUT SAM MCGUFFIE WAS AN AWESOME ATHLETE BUT WAS MISUSED INTO INJURIES, BUT YOU MENTIONED NON OF THESE THINGS YOU ROOKIE MINDED MORON*
Torch Reed Are you his certified ball cleaner or something? Have to be tonsil deep up his ass to get that angry over the fact that he just wasn't that good at the next level when you start seeing more and more amazing athletes. He was on scout teams in the NFL as well. Pro coaches looked at him. They all discarded him because he just wasn't that good. Yeah injuries suck. Then again when you are 190 lbs soaking wet in the big 10 you are going to get rocked.
Love this pickup by the raiders! I remember when a friend showed me this mixtape when he chose Michigan as his college. Ive been a fan of his for years and now he got a chance to be on my favorite team! I hope he makes it I will be one of his biggest fans
I was on this 07-08 Bobcat Team...guess who knocked us out of the playoffs...Andrew fucking Luck. Best QB we ever played against...Sam couldn't turn the tide of that game.
+jartstopsign not really. You can blame poor #'s on Rodriguez who was total fail. After concussions at Michigan, and other stuff im sure, he went on to Rice and absolutely rocked it as a receiver. Still, McGuffie had some amazing plays while at Michigan.
Sam McGuffie is awesome, he did his part, i love it when he leaps over people like its nothing. but we gotta give credit to the unsung heroes too, the Offensive Line, i mean they did their job very well.
This kid's incredible. He runs blazingly fast, changes directions quickly, can jump over people, and manages to navigate through clumps of players who would have otherwise tackled him. His legs are like tireless pistons. Wow. Great athlete.
I was looking through my old saved favorites, and i completely forgot about this guy, too bad his college career never took off, i thought he was going to be a monster in college football.
I agree, look at all of those freshman that start and come in from the bench and play! That comeback against Wisconsin is nothing short of a miracle considering we only had 21 total yards of offense in the first half! A young team like Michigan will be a national title contender in about 2 years when they all are junoirs and when these sophmores are seniors! Plus we have talented running quarterbacks coming in (Beaver and Forcier). We'll get better next year, and do great things in 2 years!
i read he used to run curbs as a kid- as in curbs of streets- at full speed- to practise his balance and foot co ordination. amazing. he s a compact freak full of fast twitch.
I'm thrilled that we've got McGuffie, and i totally agree that he fits the offens perfectly. I think he should be the starting punt returner and kickoff returner, although i don't know if RR is trying out mcGuffie at those spots.
I was in middle school when he was at Fair, we use to go watch him play and he was the biggest threat throughout the district and behind Andrew luck for the houston area. before sam it was Omar, conte was his last name I believe
I completely agree with. McGuffie started the first few games as a true freshman! He got hurt, and wasn't the same since, but he has come up with CLUTCH receptions on 3rd down or during our 2 minute drills. We have 48 freshman, 32 sophmores, 19 junoirs, and 15 seniors. In 2010, we'll have either Shavodrick Beaver or Tate Forcier runnin our offense, not threet or sheridan, we'll have a total of 80 upperclassman, RR will have his recruits, and we'll be back, next year will be better, but 2010 man!
Normally I hate most music people put behind highlites, but these songs are pretty good and make the video even better... ...that and the fact that this guy is a badass...
McGuffie is the #1 running back on University of Michigan's Depth Charts. He'll be starting against Utah which I'll be at the game!!! (University of Michigan season ticket holder here and die hard maize and blue fan!)... just wanted to give people some updates on anyone looking forward to watching McGuffie start his career against Utah on Saturday!
"You guys got a hell of a player barring injury." I totally agree with you. i expect McGuffie to be invited to new York at least once. I'm just saying that i wouldn't start him as a TRUE FRESHMEN, especially considering we already have three seasoned veterans in Brown, Minor, and Grady. I would give him a few carries a game as a substitute, then when he is a junior and senior, I'd make him the full time starter. He is indeed a special player, and fits RR's offense perfectly
He'll probably be the starter in his junior and senior year, and a key sub in his freshmen and sophomore year. He;s going to be a great one at Michigan. Go Blue!
I agree, the speedy recruits are comin in, including Shavodrick Beaver and Tate Forcier, along with Justin Feagin cause he'll be a redshirt freshman next year. And Beaver and Forcier are enrolling early in January making them able to practice with Michigan in the spring! Go Blue!!!!!!!
Michigan students call him Sam "Pinball Pete" McGuffie because of his pinball-like agility. Pinball Pete's is also the name of an arcade in Ann Arbor where he goes to school.
I agree, im a Michigan fan but all I really see are some amazing blockers and some really good speed. I doubt he will be starting next year when we get better recruits.
mcguffie is a beast he is fast and can break open field tackles and he's got mad ups.. if he bulks up a little and keeps his speed this guy will be even more dangerous... im looking forward to seeing him run with rice
Quizz Rodgers went to a 4a school, Mcguffie went to a 5a..but both played in the houston area.. Quizz went to Lamar Highschool (i think) and mcguffie went to Cy Fair.
theres a reason they use the 40 as a measuring stick for football...b/c statistically most runs are within a 40 yard stretch...plus sam's shuttle is sick
wow austin scott from parkland high school. and former penn state running back. was the greatest high school running back ever! he has the fourth most rushing yards in a season in the nations history. He has PA's state records in career rushing yards, touchdowns, and most points in a season.
Man, this guy runs like Forrest Gump in the open field & he's got the sickest cuts I've ever seen. I can't wait to watch this kid in Rich Rodriguez's offense.
This was one of the first youtube videos I ever watched.
Me too, I thought it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen
This makes me feel old
The McMixtape is still insane 15 years later
True legend for Texas High School Football, I'm sad that he never truly got a shot in the NFL.
Yes he did. In 2013 he was on the practice team of 3 nfl teams
They never disclosed why he got cut from the teams though, how does someone who was that much of a legend in high school football get thrown under the bus even though his college film was good and his combine stats were at an elite level?
He never really succeeded all that much in college what on earth makes you think he could make it in the NFL. Fun fact : Sam is on the USA national Bob sledding team now!
Flemlo raps brought me here
I see you!! Been subbed to my guy since like 15k
Who came from flemlo raps
Me
Straight here lol
Guilty
Caleb Smith I came here from my childhood
His O line was the real deal too. Those big boys are getting hands on the LB’s every play.
Sam McGuffie….cold as ice. Very much reminded me of Barry Sanders with his cutting ability! Great to watch you Sam!
This guy is awesome. He has great acceleration and break away speed. I hope he get's some carries at Michigan next year behind Grady and Carlos Brown
Love this pickup by the raiders! I remember when a friend showed me this mixtape when he chose Michigan as his college. Ive been a fan of his for years and now he got a chance to be on my favorite team! I hope he makes it I will be one of his biggest fans
This was one of the first UA-cam highlights I’ve ever seen 🔥
Damn I’m kind of upset that they took the music down to this😢 it made the video so much better
Agreed haha I saw this video back in high school in 2008 with the music made it way better
@@brv49 hell yeah that Breathe By Fabulous was the fucking best for the video! Fuckkk man I swear UA-cam ruins everything
It's back up
@@numba1punta110 that’s awesome. Nostalgia watching this in middle school in 2008 with my friends
I was on this 07-08 Bobcat Team...guess who knocked us out of the playoffs...Andrew fucking Luck. Best QB we ever played against...Sam couldn't turn the tide of that game.
Nevermind, just watched it. Looked like he got injured on a horse collar tackle. Seems like a cheapshot
No they didn't. Yall played them 1st game of the season.
This video is incomplete with Breath by Fabolous in the background
Great burst, great vision, great exceleration! A natural. That 90 yrd. run at the 4:50 mark was sick.
that offense line is freaking amazing too, and thats a very pro style offense the way they brought those tackles over must've had a good coach
Welcome to the Patriot Nation!
He didnt play for patriots he was on their pratice squad
And the award for most disappointing carrer by a running back goes to....
+jartstopsign not really. You can blame poor #'s on Rodriguez who was total fail. After concussions at Michigan, and other stuff im sure, he went on to Rice and absolutely rocked it as a receiver. Still, McGuffie had some amazing plays while at Michigan.
I was gonna say Reggie Bush after USC
That is incredible... his speed, talent and skill are just crazy!
Sam McGuffie is awesome, he did his part, i love it when he leaps over people like its nothing. but we gotta give credit to the unsung heroes too, the Offensive Line, i mean they did their job very well.
wow this is amazing... great line and great skill on sam mcguffie's part... can't wait to see him play in college!!
12 years later and wish he never got so many concussions he was different
M GO BLUE!!! Go MCGUFFIE....this guy has some great moves. Reminds me of Barry.
That little dude is gonna get hammered in the Big Ten. HAMMERED!!!
Sometimes, when I'm feeling a bit down, I like to watch this and then I realize that all is right in the world...
This kid's incredible. He runs blazingly fast, changes directions quickly, can jump over people, and manages to navigate through clumps of players who would have otherwise tackled him. His legs are like tireless pistons.
Wow. Great athlete.
If there are guys who can do even more impressive stuff than this guy, I'd definitely love to see any vids. Cause this looks impressive to me.
I was looking through my old saved favorites, and i completely forgot about this guy, too bad his college career never took off, i thought he was going to be a monster in college football.

That was insane. I looked him up after the game today.... he is sick man
well he was fun to watch for one year. Im not happy but you gotta understand there are things more important than football. so good luck sam
His junior season in which he carried the ball 358 times for 3,121 yards and also scored 44 touchdowns.
I was a freshman in HS during computer class I would be on rivals looking up commits, his tape was always showing.
Can't wait to watch you on Saturday's Sam. Welcome to the Maize and Blue. You and Rich Rod gonna be doin some big things!
Welp
i read he used to run curbs as a kid- as in curbs of streets- at full speed- to practise his balance and foot co ordination. amazing. he s a compact freak full of fast twitch.
Exactly! Mike Hart was the same height as McGuffie, look what he accomplished, he's now the all-time rushing leader in Micgigan history!
I'm thrilled that we've got McGuffie, and i totally agree that he fits the offens perfectly. I think he should be the starting punt returner and kickoff returner, although i don't know if RR is trying out mcGuffie at those spots.
People forget he had a massive senior year too despite missing half the season with an injury. Ran for like 1800 yards in 8 games
the elusiveness and acceleration is amazing
In one word... AMAZING !
for sure! the line is amazing! thats y hes good. ya hes fast but thats it he just has a great line
just be glad you guys got a big-play guy like this. Will fit that offense perfectly. He could also return kicks this year.
I was in middle school when he was at Fair, we use to go watch him play and he was the biggest threat throughout the district and behind Andrew luck for the houston area. before sam it was Omar, conte was his last name I believe
If you know anything about football you will recognize his offensive line is SICK. That Left Guard is an absolute stud.
Remember being a little kid AMAZED BY HIS STYLE OF PLAY
I thought he was finna tear college up back then
"Haiillll to the victors.."
he is without a doubt the best caucasion runner that I have ever seen. He will probably be in the caucasion hall of fame!
@Alexmarcoux well what running back is going to be good without blocking?
Normally I hate most music people put behind highlites, but these songs are pretty good and make the video even better...
...that and the fact that this guy is a badass...
sam i am the man mcguffie is going to take college ball by storm, he's the man, good luck sam!!!!
Hahahaha, I never heard anybody say that comparison. It's a good one.
McGuffie is the #1 running back on University of Michigan's Depth Charts. He'll be starting against Utah which I'll be at the game!!! (University of Michigan season ticket holder here and die hard maize and blue fan!)... just wanted to give people some updates on anyone looking forward to watching McGuffie start his career against Utah on Saturday!
we'll never see another guy like him for a long time
Rack em Willie and Sam McGuffie....old UA-cam was amazing
he just runs past everyone
best burst of speed ive ever seen
Shout the dawgs. Matt and Shane for bringing me here 15 years later. @mssp
Lol I’m listening to old Patreons and came here too
Mind Blowing...
Man, he really has some amazing hurdles
You got that right! Roo Roo Roo!
"You guys got a hell of a player barring injury."
I totally agree with you. i expect McGuffie to be invited to new York at least once.
I can't find any articles about him going to OAK. Where'd you hear about this?
He'll probably be the starter in his junior and senior year, and a key sub in his freshmen and sophomore year. He;s going to be a great one at Michigan. Go Blue!
1a Reggie Bush’s high school highlights. 1b is Sam McGuffie
What a shame Dick Rod misused him right off the rip at Michigan and he suffered multiple concussions. He was one explosive white boy.
What's the very first song that they play on this video clip called?
He was so good.
No matter what they say, bobcat fight never dies!!
We used to all think he was the next Reggie Bush as a kid
I dont care what Sam does in college he will always be a beast to me!!
And when you run a 4.32 40-yard dash like McGuffie, the spread is your best friend.
I agree, im a Michigan fan but all I really see are some amazing blockers and some really good speed. I doubt he will be starting next year when we get better recruits.
That line is fucking amazing - no doubt.
Future NFL superstar!!
man this looks like good stuff
mcguffie is a beast he is fast and can break open field tackles and he's got mad ups.. if he bulks up a little and keeps his speed this guy will be even more dangerous... im looking forward to seeing him run with rice
this guy better turn our season around i mean look a this vid he should do some of this at michigan plzzzzzzzzz
He has some amazing blockers up front
Quizz Rodgers went to a 4a school, Mcguffie went to a 5a..but both played in the houston area.. Quizz went to Lamar Highschool (i think) and mcguffie went to Cy Fair.
First one is "Breathe" by Fabolous, second one is an instrumental remix of This is why im hot with Jesus Walks in it
True his line is sick but he's just laughing at the secondary any time they come near him
Is there super sweet video of Sam McGuffie riding the bench at Michigan next year?
mcguffie owns
theres a reason they use the 40 as a measuring stick for football...b/c statistically most runs are within a 40 yard stretch...plus sam's shuttle is sick
wow dis dude is fast as hell and got some hops
wish they didn't cut the audio, the song was "breathe" by fabolous for those of you who are wondering what song went with this video.
I remember my dad telling me he use to clean his locker and that Sam would give him his sandwhich
this boy is a BEAST!!!!! haha welcome to #PATS NATION...i wanna see this boy play hopefully we hold on to him and next year he makes magic happen
I hope y'all use him wisely. Seems like a good kid too.
He didnt even play for ur team he was on pratice squad
He made magic happen by dissappearing off the radar
3:57
My favorite run.
This guy is elite hands down.
This kid would have been a legend if he just called it a career after High School! He's been exposed at the collegiate level as a backup.
The song you're looking for is
Breathe - Fabolous
McGuffie is a beast!!!!!
wow austin scott from parkland high school. and former penn state running back. was the greatest high school running back ever! he has the fourth most rushing yards in a season in the nations history. He has PA's state records in career rushing yards, touchdowns, and most points in a season.
His vision is probably more impressive than his hurdles, although i do want to see him get absolutely hammered doing one.
mcguffie will be a total beast in rich rod's system...... Go Blue!!!!
IN Rich We Believe!!!!!!
Man, this guy runs like Forrest Gump in the open field & he's got the sickest cuts I've ever seen. I can't wait to watch this kid in Rich Rodriguez's offense.
great video, great athlete, hope he does well at michigan...not to take anything away from him but it helps to have the offensive linemen like he had
Oh and I like the future I'm lookin at? Feagin and McGuffie in the backfield, sounds heisman material!
