We went to our local LR dealer to buy one but after talking to a couple of my motor trade friends they told me to save my money as it will be in the LR workshop more times than on the road, Needless to say I did not buy it and how glad am I.
Well explained, I tell my customers who own a modern diesel to go for a decent run out every now and again to help clear the exhaust system as plodding around town is no good for them at all especially as the car etc gets older.
Really awesome video! New subscriber here, and I am so looking forward to learning more about this diesel! I’ve only ever worked on gas! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and help other techs!!
I had a Discovery Sport. As well as DPF issues I also had a nightmare with oil dilution (2 litres of diesel in the sump after just 4000 miles and very few town miles). No wonder they’re trying to go EV so quickly, their diesel engines are shot! Thankfully it’s now gone 😅
To be clear , the cracked / holed dpf will be allowing soot into the **low pressure** egr system, which contains the filter and fine cored cooler,, which then feeds back into the inlet of the turbo. Its not designed to recycle sooty exhaust gas, and they will block and give a low flow code as a secondary result of driving the car with a cracked or holed dpf. There is also a high pressure, conve tional style of egr system also fitted.
Hi! Thanks for the info. I have the Jaguar version of this AMZING system. I run my finger on the exhaust and it’s wet and just a little black. It’s nowhere near as dark as yours. Could I still have a problem with the DPF?
Hi I run my finger in the exhaust and it gets blacks as in the Rover. I got an MB with DPF and a P2626 code that says Soot content too High for regeneration. I also got a by passed 02 sensor. Gotta check the car with a mechanic in a few days.
When you have finished a clean on a dpf and you tell the ecu that the dpf has been replaced. What does that achieve? Does it have to recalculate the ash that isnt removed? If you do the clean but don't tell the ecu the dpf has been replaced what would happen? Thanks. Love the videos
I saw a little hint, in the video that I'm curious about. has it been your experience that with a plugged up DPF, forced regeneration multiple times could damage it?
Because the Government advised us to go down that route, Until they realised they didn't know what they were talking about (suprise suprise!) and did a 'U' turn.
Because they are cheap to run, tax and insure and are excellent for overtaking slow moving traffic on our congested A roads. I think if you are doing big miles a Diesel makes more sense than a petrol but if you are not then stick to petrol.
Well explained!
Food for thought for many so called technicians!
Spot on it's a totally flawed system on these and JLR are well aware of it, Why people buy these is absolutely beyond me.
They look nice and majority of people buy cars based on looks and new car reviews...
Totally agree. Crap

all landrover crap is just a BADGE OF COMPLIANCE to briti shfreema s on ry
The advice I've read re JLR is if you must have one buy new and get rid before the warranty runs out and never buy used.

JLR must have a good marketing team to be still in business ...
What a right carry on. If the Manufacturers had to pay for all this crap all this would disappear and jimmy would be working on the bins!.
Thanks for your help today Jimmy !!
Pleasure to meet You !
You too!

Welcome aboard!
@@ORileysAutos thank you!!

Videos like this make me glad I removed my DPF
Unfortunately you cant do this on vehicles with a low pressure egr system that rely on clean, non sooty exhaust gases to work.
@@timbo19751975 think you will find every dpf delete remap is a egr software delete too
Excellent! You explained it very well..
Glad you liked it
Have you done a video regarding the egr cooler on this model car .

How could soot travel anyway when the cooler filter is completely blocked?
@@AlfredTheGreatKingOfWessex it doesnt - which is why you get the EGR low-flow fault code.
@timbo19751975 So you could say it's a proper diesel now? Exhaust shooting black soot, and EGR is not functional.

Great video Jimmy and well explained 📹👌
Thanks 👍
great video thanks for the info
Do the dpf cleaners that go in the fuel tank work?

You made my day when you said “ I am not going to SLAY people on line😂😂😂 HAHA I haven’t heard that in years😊😊

Yes
Hi very interested and learning about car problems how to solve.
❤️❤️🙏🙏
More to come!
Start/stop thing on traffic lights or every time vehicle slows down doesn’t help. Turn that off, give a good run once a week.
How much is a new DPF?
Are those Ingenium 2.0 engines any good ?
Not the Diesel ones
I'm getting around 30hPA at 3000rpms and 0hPA at idle, but driving I'm getting 160hPA accelerating up to 3000rpm. DPF has no rattle.
Check if there's soot at the exhaust tip
@@ORileysAutos There is soot but I'm not sure if its old soot from a previous DPF change some time ago.
JLR deserve to go bust
I'd rather run my motor down the motorway at 70mph in 3rd. .
Never would i go to kwik fit or halfrauds.
Why do UK motorists bother so much with diesel engine cars? Educate me on their advantages especially as personal transport means
