"I am an appreciator of the aesthetics of a Ming vase."
~ Barney Greenway of Napalm Death.
I love this presenter. He lets the guests speak unlike a lot of ego driven hosts.
Ritchie's Fantastic Magical Parties Gruhamed is probably my favorite interviewer I've ever watched. He's so respectful and asks questions that we actually want to hear about.
thats why the dave mustaine q&a has 2 parts ;-)
Nowadays, Gruhamed is an awkward son of a bitch who tries way too hard to be funny during an interview.
@@nathanhutchinson6198
He is deadset hard to watch hey.
Absolutely good sir, here here!!
No matter how much ND has changed over the years... Barney's sensibilities and lyrics have kept their albums relevant. He and Shane have kept Napalm's finger on the pulse for far longer than most mainstream bands could ever hope to have a music career. ND still there like a blur collar workhorse.
❤
Allegedly LoL
Barney is a legend. A stand up guy with a code of ethics.
my respect for barney just went up even higher after this
he rules
"Napalm Death concert canceled because of fear that the music would damage the museum"
HAHAHA
it's not often you hear a grindcore singer mention his appreciation of Ming vases.
Such a great attitude. seems like a guy who is completely relaxed in his own skin.. no ego or self esteem problems. Cool to see.
Enemy of the music business is a brutal masterpiece
One of my fav album by ND
GengarTV just about everything from ND is a brutal masterpiece
I bought it two weeks ago and it's awesome.
Time waits for no slave too
Best Grindcore band ever.
Xyloblast after terrorizer. Maybe they're equal.
Xyloblast Brutal Truth is my favorite solely because of the masterpiece that is Kill Trend Suicide, but Napalm Death aren't far behind
Sorry Carcass is better
Doom Guy Carcass only released one grind album and that was Reek of Putrefaction. I’d say the top 3 grind bands are Terrorizer, Napalm Death and Repulsion
+James Matthews yet Repulsion only has one grind album too
My band opened for Napalm once. Nice guys.
Luckay!
Nice! what was your band?

RU PAUL 🤪😁😥😁😃🤪
Drinking game, every time Barney says "You Know" :D
A lot of musicians actually do this, every member of Slipknot, Peter Tägtgren etc.
thovlasslayer Omg I noticed once i read your comment, exactly halfway through I started counting and any mortal would drown!
I've just emerged from the coma that you put me in.What year is this?!
I've just emerged from the coma that you put me in.What year is this?!
Barney was infected that disease by James root of slipknot , The king of "y'know"
I can't believe how well his voice has held out after all these years!
I grew up listening to this band. It helped me to face challenging times that a young 18 yo man faced in Poland back in 1990. Even now I often play their songs on the guitar remembering this strong inspiration that shaped myself.
Same here. Cheers
cheers from slovakia!
When I visited Poland (gorgeous country, btw), I did see a lot of Napalm Death t-shirts.
Which songs do you play?
@@sawyer_Benton all songs from the Harmony corruption mate. Love this album
Barney is the man.
saw Napalm with Suffocation opening during the Time Waits for no Slave tour and had the greatest time.
It was pretty cool to see how this guy turns from the most polite opinionated guy to this aggressive mosher instigating the audience to rock the fuck out.
Pretty good memories.
best voice in extreme music! Barney fockin rules!
Fear, emptiness, despair is one of my favourite ND albums but as far as Barney's vocals go I would have to say enemy of the music business has an amazing aggressive barking, raspy sound.incredible.for people who haven't seen punishment in capitals you go to watch it.
I'm doin it
I got to see Napalm Death live finally I really enjoyed them, love their ethics and their music.
Always appreciate Barney's thoughtful answers. He's an interview gold mine of information. . .
I met Barney when I was 15 years old, I'm 32 now, but this guy is so cool! I was the only punk, that I know of!, at that show in Springfield,VA.
Was that at Jaxx?
Barney is like a perfect representation of the best aspects of 90's culture that's evolved into the modern time. Losing nothing along the way. What a legend!
He’s so down to earth, and the reverence he holds the first albums in (that he wasn’t even on) shows just how awesome a guy he is.
It's amazing that Barney is such an intelligent and calm dude and also extreme as fuck on stage
always been an awesome guy.
I love that Barneys British accent!

Brummie....(Birmingham)
@Mark Richardson Hahaha...one of them...I come from Devon...that isn´t much better!
@Mark Richardson Nah, Essex is worst by far.
@@ejl1000 Agreed although Manc isn't much better
so glad you got him, and it was really fuckin cool but I wish it was longer....like 5+ minutes longer maybe. there is no doubt that there's so much more info that could be covered.
Barney Greenway is the best!!🤘🏾🎶🎸 I love it when musicians are socially conscious and can have thought provoking conversation with info people can use. In connection, I read an article back in 1993 with King Diamond. At the time where he lived in Texas, he talking about how the state passed a law for concealed weapons or open carry for citizens and how that decision lowered the level of crime through out the state. King said in the interview how people will think twice before running up on a person. That article was the most interesting and intelligent thing I’ve ever read at the time. So yes, it’s cool to have out of the box conversations that give you brain food👍👍👍👍😎
long live the KING!
This video should of been only a second long, if you know what I mean :-)
Epicgames01 You suffer, but why?
Epicgames01 Their best songs are the ones where its one hit to the cymbal and one single chord struck one scream... End of song lol
*should have
should have, you eggcorn fucker
Maybe if he was interviewing Nik Napalm.
I saw napalm death at the Fillmore in Denver. After the show a few of us asked him to sign our shirt. He stayed for 30 minutes and signed shirts, gave us guitar picks and just talked with us. Super cool guy. Down to earth and just a regular guy.
I grew up listening to Napalm Death, since 1995 (when I started). I still listen albuns like 'Diatribes' (my fav) 'Utopia Banished' and 'Fear Emptness Dispear' and 'Inside The Torn Apart'. I think that albuns are the best, but that band is all amazing, indeed one of the greatest bands still in activity (since 89') in the world!
It's funny how some artists answer the question directly and some tell a whole story after one question
He sounds like a great man. And I've got to say his t-shirt is amazing!
love this band. interviews like this are great
Is it weird to say that I was seriously surprised to hear his talking voice? I didn't expect to hear such a fancy sounding voice/accent come out of the same guy who has one of the most brutal growls in the genre...
It's the same as Karl Willets of Bolt Thrower . Really soft speaking voice but a terrifying singing voice .
Brummies 🤘🤘
Brummie accent!
I've never heard Brummie described as fancy!
What a legend
That's the greatest t-shirt I've ever seen

I really love this guy. Barney Forever and Ever. Please never die.
best interview!!!!!! barney is legit.
I've been listening to Napalm Death since Harmony Corruption. Barney, you rule.
Just bought the best of napalm death today i looked it up on UA-cam and listened to it and i knew i had to get it. Been a fan of napalm death for a long time
One of my all time favourite bands.
You should do one with Gorgoroth, every answer would be Satan and I'd love all of it
Tom Spencer "You were born on the [insert date here]?"
"SATAN"
"The name Gorgoroth stems from a Place in Mordor?"
"SATAN"
"Have a nice day"
"SATAN"
I'd watch it.
Infernus kicked that ass out over ten years ago so it won't happen.
@@randpaul7031thank hell he did, infernus IS gorgoroth. Fuck wine sipping "Gail" and her prissy little sister ""queen of hail"
Barney's the Brian Johnson of grindcore.
Nuff Respect to Barney & Napalm Death...I've been a fan of N.D since 1991. 💖🦄
can you do Glen Benton?
Glen rarely does interviews, so it's a tough challenge to get him.
The question is: will Glen Benton do u? ;)
@@Sean-fv4wiGlen Benton can do anything he wants, he knows satan ;P
What a great singer/artist👍🏼😍
Barney is a living legend
First heard them on John Peels show in the early 80s Alamo game with Extreme Noise Terror. Blew my mind.
I bought Cryptic Slaughter's Convicted album in 86, I couldn't imagine anything faster, then a school mate told me about Napalm Death's Scum, went out and bought it, played it, hated it.
After 3-4 listens I started to get it, then John Peel started playing more hardcore and crust stuff, Bolt-thrower, Doom, Deviated Instinct, Hellbastard and all that, they were glorious times, Doom and Unseen Terror Peel Sessions still get a regular play to this day.
The Radioactive split Barney is referencing is Chaos UK/Extreme Noise Terror split in which I recommend all of to give a listen to.
Might be my favorite livewire interview.
First time I ever heard about Napalm Death was from Jim Carrey lol
And Cannibal Corpse too.
***** Nothing more, not a fan of their music, that's enough for me lol
SigmaTV That too lol
"You don't bring me flowers...Reeeaaaawwwuuurrrraaarrrraaaaaeeeeeerrrr!"
And now I can't go a day without listening to them
I could listen to Barney all nyt ...very intelligent guy.....good guy.
I love Barney's accent. It's unique
Hope for a napalm death album one day ! This is amazing!
Such a great lad is barney
Great guy Barney!
His voice is outstanding!
Love that he's talking about those rare ENT days!
Yea me too !
I saw Napalm Death recently. Pretty awesome. Can't understand a word Barney says tho xD
What a gent Barney is. What a gent everyone from Napalm Death is.
Good man , Mark 👍
enemy of the music business is one of the best comeback albums of all time.
Working in workshops for Apartheid Orphans in South Africa, being a vegetarian and supporting PETA... And ppl say that Metal is devil's music.
Do those things automatically make you a better person than other that doesn't do those things?
Yes they do, actually .
Get Tom G warrior..and king diamond 🤘

First time I heard of ND was the on the bullshit detector vol 1.early...1982..same band? I got into them 1986/1987 their peel sessions Rules !❤🎸❤🖖👍
@Jim Goose yes indeed !
yeah ... they sounded very crass anarco
Again another response about wanting artists to be fuckin political neutral. Don't you know that heavy metal subculture is (and most subcultures are) based on political, ideological and religious reaction.. You know RESISTANCE??
This is the only shirt he owns. Excellent.
Panty-fa are fearsome
What a cool dude!!
It seems being down to earth and generally ethical keeps you eternally youthful.
Before I even watched the video I clicked like!
He's a very down to Earth decent guy.
First time u heard napalm death, I thought my brain was gonna melt
Forever young barney
oh, that's lovely
get Mick Harris
would be cool but he's out of the business for some time now
he has alot to say about early NP
he put out a new album under the name Fret a year ago.
His work as Scorn has always been enjoyable to me.
Seems like a really nice fella, Barry.
Classy lad.
A really interesting guy. Have to admit grindcore isn't my favourite genre but will always have a soft spot for them
I've never been so impressed with someone's ability to remain the same age. He looked the same ten years ago.
he hasn't aged since 2000

Saw these guys live about 2 months ago I was chilling with a bloke that’s seen them 50+ times he invites barney over to have pints in the backyard whilst watching villa he was a sound guy as well there’s no grindcore band that matches to napalm death I assure u
I first heard Napalm when I got a copy of Virus 100 back in the day. Lots of killer bands on that one.
"Ya know..."
Napalm Death is my fav , Barry is a stand up bro
Barney is top bloke.
Hello from great bar Birmingham!
Graham excels in every interview; not excessively funny and not too morose. This is a nice series.
Coconut water, grindcore and veganism. Probably explains why he's not aging.
How i love the accent from England.
Very nice lad.
Thats a Birmingham accent !!

much respect to Barney and Napalm death. always speaking out against racism and dedicating their music to humanity
