This was sooooo perfect! Thank you for this Information! I was thinking of doing a glitter base, then brite tone, letting it dry then doing the alcohol ink. Thank you!!!!! I’ll let the brute tone dry for 48+!! Thank you sooooo much!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I’ve watched about three times now and come back with questions to clarify again! I need a transcript. Lol. I appreciate the info!
Hi! I just came across your video and it has answered a lot of questions for me. So thank you! But I’m curious if you can seal your Crystalac basecoat with BT first, and then add the alcohol ink over it? And then obviously continue on with the steps you’ve mentioned. Thanks!
so u can use the krylon archivel spray in place of the kamar varnish?? and how many coats would u recommend and how long apart would u apply those coats??
I am fairly new to using Brite tone. I am having difficulty finding kamar varnish or fixative spray in my area. I have seen another video where Rustoleum clear spray paint was used to seal the inks, and then 48 hours to gas off; will this work to seal the alcohol ink without issues down the road?
It won’t cause issues down the road but it can cause issues immediately - it can cause the inks to run or make a water spotting appearance. Easiest way to control that is to keep your coats super light - light just a mist for the first 3 layers, 10 minute dry time between. Then you can keep coating to get a good seal
As long as you’re rubbing it in well before touching your cup (which, technically is the proper way to use sanitizer) you should be fine. But don’t wipe it down with anything alcohol based
I spray painted my cup, 48hrs then drench my cup in rubbing alcohol and then dripped alcohol ink…paint soaked up the ink…what would cause that? Would applying BT fix the fact that my cup almost soaked all the ink?
Thank you SO much , lots of great info and appreciate it. Learned so much. I didn't wait long enough for the spray paint the ink dried super quick. Can after it cures for the full time go back and add more ink? Or do I need to find a way to start over? If so how do you? Appreciate any suggestions or help.
Dumb question. I currently use epoxy with alcohol inks. Say I use 60cc for a tumbler (30cc part A & 30cc part B), will I use 60cc of crystalac? I know that should be common sense, but all products don't spread and cover the same
We do make our own liquid micas that definitely work. Most other micas will work, but you do have to test it as they are all made differently. Some blend perfect, and others will bleed or cause other issues. Best bet is to test a small amount on a test piece!
Thank you for making this video!! I tried to see if you had a video for a swirl tumbler with Crystalac. I didn’t see one. If possible, can you make one or give me some pointers? I have made one with acrylic paint. Is it possible to do a swirl with Crystalac and alcohol inks? Sorry for the paragraph 😊
Thankyou for this video. I learned so much...QUESTION can you use uv resin and apply mica powers( doing a bubble cup) wash the bubbles off...then Brite tone over? Thank you in advance Cheers☕ from Canada
I have another question. If I’m doing a peek a boo with alcohol ink, do I apply the first color, seal, apply the 2nd coat , seal and then apply the brite tone after the 2nd coat has fully dried?
Thanks so much for an awesome video Breanne! I was hoping you would discuss sanding ceramic cups. If you spray paint as a base on a ceramic cup, do you still have to sand the cup first?
Very helpful tks and luv the color recipes

Thanks for the information because I am new to using crystallac. 🙂

If you look below, there is a transcript.
What a great video I’m switching to crystac you answered a tone of questions
Can u do a video like this for mica powders?

I bought the archival spray on Amazon, I can use just that spray right?

Ugh! I just bought a set of inks and now I have to buy so much more to do this. Ugh…..
super informative ! thank you

Very informative! Thanks so much for all the info! Question.... will hand sanitizer hurt my cured cup?
As long as you’re rubbing it in well before touching your cup (which, technically is the proper way to use sanitizer) you should be fine. But don’t wipe it down with anything alcohol based
Can you use BT over epoxy? Thank you
You can, but the epoxy needs to be fully cured and gassed off, so that all the solvents have completely evaporated.
I spray painted my cup, 48hrs then drench my cup in rubbing alcohol and then dripped alcohol ink…paint soaked up the ink…what would cause that? Would applying BT fix the fact that my cup almost soaked all the ink?
Sounds like an issue with the spray paint, I’ve never seen that happen! I would try doing a clear coat spray over the paint before doing the AIs
So I can put BT over my dry alcohol inc? Been drying for a few days? So BT is my top layers over the inks.
Op! Didn’t watch long enough! You answered this in the video 🤪

Yep! Lots of people use BT over UV resin without issue
Thank you so much for this. Where in Germany are you?
You are welcome! I'm in Wiesbaden
