God how I miss the glory days of UA-cam when Elsa and Spiderman fetish pornos, destruction channels, and those stupid knife videos didn't exist. It was all about UA-cam Poops, Club Penguin hacks that WORK 100%, and videos unregistered by hypercam2.
Even those days weren't perfect though. We had Reply Girls and 009 Sound System, still it was better than what we have now.
You fool, youtube's content was always shit. Remember Shane Dawson? Philip DeFranco? ShayCarl? RayWilliamJohnson? Those are some oooold youtube whores.
VideoTape Of course there has always been shitty channels. Something can be bad, but there's always something worse.
VideoTape all of those channels still exist except rwj
I don't think the quality of youtube's content has really changed over the years. There is nothing that exists today that didn't exist before on youtube. Except speedruns, they could be pretty damn hard to find back then.
Especially destruction channels? Man there are some *old* destruction channels out there.
And I hate how PewDiepie thinks he invented the gaming channel genre. *Hell no* , gaming channels are an oooold idea. And they existed years before you did.
I don't understand the audience for these videos. It's so mindless.
mindless things for mindless people
The majority of youtube viewers are kids. Kids like screaming and breaking things
Ironically the audience is the people who hate it. It's basically a form of trolling. Don't watch these videos, even if you do watch it just to dislike it and leave and angry comment, because UA-cam still sees that as activity and will promote it more.
brickman409 Exactly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't UA-cam now value watch time above all else?
Hardcore Heretic That's 80% of the human population lol
Can anyone else not stand seeing electronics getting destroyed?
Yup. It always pains me to get rid of vintage, good electronics. A few months ago, I had to throw out a broken Technics stereo amplifier, circa 1984. I almost cried when I stepped out one morning to see the broken shell covered in snow...
When it's something as Iconic as an original Pac-Man cab in that good of condition that's getting more rare as we speak then I can't stand that shit, but when it's something like a dead no name Chinese netbook, knock off cell phone, etc.. I does not bother me near as much. I just hope at the very least they have the good sense to recycle the things they break. I know I've done it to a few pieces of dead electronics before over the years that have pissed me off really bad(all cheap mass produced pieces of crap with nothing of historical, or cultural value), and I at least made sure I took it too my local county e-waste drop off.
If it's playstation I'm okay with it being destroyed. Playstation systems will never be collector's items. It's like destroying a copy of Madden '04, nobody cares.
I feel rage.
But seriously dumbass, set that sonovabitch up and make some money.
The only time I thought it was kind of interesting was when these guy broke a PS2, X-Box, and Gamecube.
It was more of a durability test. After each round of attempts they would plug it in to see if it would work.
I think the first test was a release drop to the floor. Needless to say the Gamecube went the most rounds.
What a way to honor the founder of Pac-Man. made my blood boil.
The video killed him.
TristanThePest Yeah "Wow". unlike people like you, I appreciate these kind of things. I collect old video games and cabinets. I clean them up, fix the motherboards and replace shoddy Hardware and so on. Seeing someone just blatantly rip apart still good looking cabinets like this one when all he had to do was open up the door, is outright insulting. Not to mention the fact that the guy who made Pac-Man only just died about a week ago, that's a double slap in the face.
557deadpool you think I give a shit? he still kept the fucking video up even after he died. He still destroyed a great-looking cabinet that could have went for a good chunk of money towards someone who would actually appreciate it you fuck bucket.
Jade Radiance it's his cabinet, he can do whatever tf he wants
557deadpool that is in no way an excuse. that is history he's breaking. It is another person's fucking Legacy. I don't care whether or not this video came before he died or not. I don't care if it's just his and his alone. Doesn't make it fucking right. He only did it just to get a shock out of people, and that right there is fucking shallow enough. It's like a book burning. You're just pissing away something of value.
I honestly believe people can do whatever they want with their property but this made me cringe. I do teardowns on my channel so I can understand wanting to know what's inside but I always do non-destructive openings and put everything back together in perfect working order (sometimes in better order if it's a repair). Plus the whole point of opening something is to gain an understanding, with insightful explanations of the components and engineering that goes into an object which is clearly missing from these destroy videos. It just makes me sad.
sjm4306 Exactly, and this is such a vintage machine.
Pacman is a very popular game, but Arcade cabinets are harder to find than a game or console.
I consider myself a huge gamer, and having the technical understanding to go along with my enjoyment of retro games really brings me joy. Honestly I would love to have an arcade cabinet, and I respect the history that went into its production and design, but I just can't afford one myself so it really is difficult watching a perfectly nice one being trashed.
congrats on 1 more sub
couldn't they take it apart with a screwdriver!? ... and then put it back together?! that would be far more educational.
dizolv R That would have taken intelligence and effort.
dizolv R yeah I would rather watch how to restore an old arcade cabinet then see this fool destroy it
But far less entertaining not to mention there are hundreds of videos out there that already do just that.
Not only would it have been more educational but it would've also been safer, more intelligent, and HE WOULDN'T OF DESTROYED A PIECE OF GAMING HISTORY but this guy clearly isn't smart and just likes money, views, and destroying things.
Feels like the kid's going to get trouble when he grows up and doesn't have any respect for the value of objects
Sad yes even sadder and totally irresponsible he lets his kid poke around high voltage parts.
That's also forgetting all nasty heavy metals (including some carcogens) he realised into the atmosphere smashing that crt.
Nunya Bidness of course they are that's how crts work. They use high voltage to attract the electron beam to the phosphorous coating on the screen to make the picture.
As a result of how they work they store a electrical charge like a capacitor dose which is in the order of 2-10 kV. That's high voltage. That's also forgetting other parts like filtering caps on power supply that also store lethal electric charges.
+Nunya Bidness
CRT's can kill you if you don't know what you're doing. They can store a charge after being unplugged. *Do not fuck around with CRT's if you're not an expert.*
Carl Siemens indeed you have to respect electricity. And this guy encouraging others to dick around with crt is so neglectful, let alone letting his own child do it.
Ignorance is dangerous as they say.
Thank you for setting the record straight.
Clearly the previous poster hasn't worked on CRTs or line connected electronics in general :/.
Whatever you think about the machine, teaching your child that destruction and wastage is a good thing is dreadful from the start.
I refuse to watch it... as a lover of games, it sickens me...
I'm with you.
Kyle Johnson don't down vote things you don't like, turns out UA-cam counts that as "engagement" and it still helps spread the video.
17R3W is that true? 😲
starsiegeplayer Thunderf00t did a video about the new algorithm, I'll see if I can find it.
I'm not sure whats worse...the guy who destroyed the machine, or the fact he has so many followers that love him. It really shows the current state of affairs with morons taking over UA-cam. I missed the UA-cam days when it showed how to videos on how to fix my car, or how to remodel stuff...people that go out of their way to film this stuff saving you thousands of dollars and not expecting any sort of ad revenue or anything. Funny thing is...you still get a lot of dislikes on those channels for some reason...I don't get it. I try to give those as many likes as I can.
This fucking triggered me as a gamer cause that's like taking a knife to the Mona Lisa or like destroying an Odyssey console. That fucker made a lot of enemies in video gaming
Destroying the most common Arcade game in existence is like taking a knife to the Mona Lisa? Are you high?
spman Only slightly
It's like taking a knife to the Baby Jesus.
Dwak Solo You and me both. I was only using it to be fucking ironic
I do too. As someone with PTSD I don't even talk about my triggers in those terms now just because people have bastardized the term
That dude has over 4 million subscribers vs someone like John's Arcade having over 30 thousand. Sad.
I cringed when they destroyed it.
That's a shame. I've taken apart a couple of arcade cabinets in my time and would've loved to have taken a part that Pac-Man cabinet.
Take it apart for what?
Busting a CRT monitor ( 7:35 ) like that is an EPA no-no.
Is there a better way to learn about what's inside objects rather than destroying them? How many times did you throw up from watching?

That guy is insane. It's not even funny or entertaining neither informative. The destruction also made no sense since just by opening the back of the machine you already see everything.
I think this sort of thing is popular mainly because it irks people. It's like the cringe compilation phenomenon. The whole appeal is just "watch some douche being a douche, proceed to smack away your remaining faith in humanity with a firm palm to your own face".
Well For The PAC-MAN They Could Of Just Opened The Backdoor Instead, The Video Should Of Been Called Let's Destroy An Arcade Machine.
Went there to downvote, could not watch past the gameplay.
Few points I did not hear mentioned:
was a pacman cabinet with ms-pac upgrades - the marquee and internals but not side or bezel art
hard to tell as they sped up the gameplay video, but might have seen the player speedup board mod
this episode was sponsored by someone connected to "best fiends"
so, the destruction was sponsored (whatever that means in this case)
by the creator / owner / publisher (not specified) of a video game!
say what
They could of just looked through the back!!
Exactly. There is no real knowledge gained from doing something like that or watching it. Doesn't talk about anything inside of it, and of course, he could have opened it up easily while keeping it intact. Fuck preserving perfectly good machines for future generations, right? Smashy smash fun. It's kinda sad.
Dave at EEVblog would've taken it apart properly and not destroyed it.
If you want to learn about what's inside these things, watch someone like Ben Heck or the 8-Bit Guy! These guys do an amazing job showing you the insides of these machines, how they things work, and how they were able to restore the machines.
He never unscrews anything. He just breaks it apart. It's useless.
John's arcade is educational, this guy is just mindless destruction.
It's breathtaking how quickly entropy takes hold and destroys the relics of the past. Very few people have any sort of historical perspective and are quick to cut something in half that does or will have significant cultural value.
This guy is an agent of chaos.
The inventor of screws must've been very upset after seeing this.
Let's be honest Pat, destroying all of your NES carts would rake in more views than all of your videos combined.
Pat needs a glass of wine & a burrito to calm down after watching that video.
I wonder what that guy has inside of his head. Will he be so kind to show it to us?
I used to take apart my video game systems and pretty much anything else that wasn't working right. I did learn a lot including how to fix or mod them. However, I'm a strong believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" motto
Gettum Pat!!! Tear'em up brother!
stuff like this sickens me. people who don't know anything about videogames distroying things that game museums and collectors would die to have. just for their own self gain.
Wow i can't believe that guy destroyed a perfectly working Pac-Man arcade cabinet. This is sacralidge and should not be aloud. The last time i played a Pac-Man arcade cab was at my local movie theater but sadly they removed the cabinet about six years ago.
Pat Sat Cat Hat. No Pat No! Don't sit on that!
I would love to watch a video someone who restores old arcade machines taking it apart, fixing it up, and giving their unique insight.
I saw the video last week and felt sad. I thought no one is going to discuss about it, so thanks Pat. Thumbs up.
Pat sure sounds calm and collected in this one...
Sickening. To me, it would be even worse if it was one of the cocktail table Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man.
I would really be pissed those are pretty hard to find now
Michael Kuzmanovski sorry man, when i was in college i fucked a heavy bitch on an asteroid cocktail cab and nearly leveled it...
Spinal Compression Hey, as long as it was for a good reason I'm okay with it. ;)
Same guy who destroyed an original Teddy Ruxpin with a saw and a hammer. He bought it from a huge collector for over $500, guy used like 20 layers of bubble wrap to keep teddy safe in the post. Guy's son only knew it was creepy as hell.
I would've given him up to $200 for that raster monitor alone. They're getting hard to find.
Thank u pat for talking about this. For those of you who want to see what pacman looks like without being destroyed, I'd recommend johns arcade channel, he knows his stuff.
Pat you're bang on. Loved your response. There will come a time when things won't be so plentiful and we'll think about all the things we've wasted.
so sad. There is going to come a time where these thing get so rare, a video like this will be looked down upon even more.
This is turning into a YT drama channel, gaming edition
ugh, I hate those youtube channels that just destroy shit.
In a perfect world, that dude would have cut straight through the flyback ;)
Now that would be worth the watch!
Don't worry Pat, sooner or later he'll come across and undumped capacitor inside one of these machines and will get such a jolt and he may never touch one again.
The guy who does this channel that does all this destruction lives fairly local to me. I've seen a few videos, nothing I thought was too terrible. Now I'm just ashamed that I live in the same state.
Sad how this isn't the only time Pat seen something vintage destroyed. (... NWC flashbacks ...)
I saw that video. I just sat there shaking my head the whole time. Uggh
some kind of amplifier for the energy?
They destroyed an IBM PC, too. It was brand new
Destroy a PS4. I'm fine with.
Destroy a Xbox One. I'm fine with.
Destroy a 40 plus inch TV. Okay, it's your money. Whatever.
Destroy a used car. Still your money. Whatever.
Destroy a classic Pac Man arcade cabinet. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! Neuter this man immediately!! He's not allowed to produce anymore.
What's inside a turtle shell?
...Well I would hope there'd be a turtle in there.
My MAME cabinet was a tossed Out Run machine that was owned by an Eagles Hall. it was gutted, but they at least left it intact for somebody to find and take.
Triggered Pat.
I feel exactly the same as you do, Pat.
I enjoy those "How it Works" or "What's Inside It" videos, but I like to see how whatever the thing is opens and closes and functions, not how to break it.
What annoys me the most isn't the destruction of stuff so much as passing it off as "educational."
There's this channel on UA-cam called John's Arcade that I watch all the time. It's far more educational as to what's inside the machines and how they work, and the guy restores them rather than destroys them. Which is probably why he has 30 thousand subscribers and not 4 million, but that's also why I like watching it a million times better.
It's amazing what gets successful on UA-cam sometimes
Have you checked out "What's Inside Cholesterol?"
It's a great video where I cut the cheese.
Viewers are invited to cry over spilled milk
Id watch that !!! if you talked about the scientific aspects of the ways a fart is made how it travels down your body and out your butt :D
As a arcade collector I have been saddened by seeing rotted and forgotten games but they were 99% of the time restorable but this is unacceptable and made me tear up... especially with the monitor which is so hard to find nowadays and you don't get the same thing with an lcd..
When that video original was published I did comment about in one of Pats videos. I'm glad he covered this. This was a senseless thing to do. People could learn about arcades watching JohnsArcade or TNT Amusement. here on youtube. There is another UA-cam channel that destroys brand new Xbox and PS4's by tossing them in a swimming pool etc. or iPhones. They get a lot of views and subs.
Thanks for raising awareness of this Pat. I never would've known (at least soon)
When I saw the title my heart stopped a little :'(
they cut their own button too lol
This should be a crime. Wonder how that kid will turn out.
with just the smallest restoration that cabinet would be like new ! side art was in really good shape !
havn't been around for a while...anyone know what happend to ian?
It's his property. He can do what he wants. It makes me cringe to no end but nothing you or we can do about it
Joseph Stalin I expect nothing less with a name like yours! Haha
somebody tell me when ian comes back from the grave or vayk or whatever.
piece
Daily sodium intake complete,thanks Pat
I understand the curiosity of wanting to know what things are made of. But like Pat brought up in the video, there are other ways to see what's inside (No pun intended) than destroying things
This legitimately makes me sad.
The channel shouldn't me named "whats inside" it should be named "watch us destroy this"
There are laws in many places against damaging historical landmarks. Perhaps the same thing should be in place for vintage creative works.
Dude it was so beautiful x.x
I wonder if this guy wants to destroy Pat's M82 Demo unit next
one machine...no big deal
Yes, but one of how many original cabinets left in existence?
Pac-man is probably one of, if not the #1 most common cabinet of all time. Still, I wouldn't condone this guy.
Steve G more than you could easily count, to say nothing of reproductions and modern produced boards like Namco's own Reunion cabinets.
it's just a wooden box with some very temperamental vintage hardware in it.
if there's any true loss, it's the monitor. They don't really make CRTS anymore and they're not likely to.
A lot. It's basically the equivalent of destroying a PS2. As Pat even said it's really more a dick move because people want these, and that's why they're expensive. So I guess it's more like destroying a Wii during it's launch year.
+Hobjo153 There were 140 million PS2s sold. There certainly were not 140 million of these cabinets sold. Plus the PS2 is 20 years newer than one of these machines.
It's like Pat's never seen "Will it Blend?" before...
CrabCMDO But thats only iPhones and Toys. This is a vintage piece of gaming and history in general.
I've seen every Will it blend video, and I've never seen Tom destory anything of historical, and cultural significance such as an original good condition Pac-Man arcade cab for no good reason.
And he was doing it just for fun, and to show off Blendtec's products and how well they perform, and of course, he always mentions "PLEASE, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!" as if to say "Don't do what I do, cause this isn't right!"
I'm very happy with my Asteroids cocktail machine that I got for free. I would never even consider taking a saw to it, especially since the CRT is nice and bright.
let's see what's inside of him. lol
My buddy Mike had the big 6 player X-Men cabinet in his house, a couple years later and there was a fire. That was a very sad day. So hearing and seeing the clips on your video about this makes me glad I'm not subscribed to his stuff. I saw him cut the UA-cam Play button and thought, man this is dumb. There are three cabinets I want. The X-Men, TMNT, and D&D...but I have no room for them.
That was a part of video game history...simply destroyed. What a shame.
converting a cabinet like that into a multicade disgusts me almost as much as this guy destroying one on youtube
Speechless...
What's Inside started as a school project with the kid. He's not there to get more hits or anything.
No wonder why I don't like to watch that channel. They never take apart things the correct way, they always do it the wrong way.
I know I was one of the people who fought in the comments and managed to prevent "d0vetastic" from destroying an original Apple 1 board, but that "What's Inside?" channel? That's even worse since they went ahead and did something similar.
I hate "TechRax" for similar reasons.
That cabinet's up in heaven with Ian
It's actually a cool channel, they have gone to factories and had experts on the show a bunch of times. They do a world class master blacksmithed blade, a top of the line surfboard, etc.
I learned from watching my idiotic step brothers that there are people that like to destroy shit just for sake of destroying it.
im sure they could of found other things. its not like its really a mystery of whats inside an arcade cabinet. if you wanted to destroy something then do a pac man plug and play tv bullshit thing. at least there you have something thats sealed and most people wouldnt think of taking to bits. ether way its not going to stop that guy or others specially now that hes going to see the bump in views from not only people like Pat talking about it but just other people like people on reddit who are pissed off. the only way not to encourage it is to not watch it, but etherway its going to end up happening.
SLICED? Anyone remember that show? No? lol me neither
Faith in humanity? Coming from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on The Learning Channel?
I totally agree with you Pat.
What happened to the other guy?
I figured this would be a trend. Destroying valuable games for Adsense money
I have respect for you Pat.
I love video games so I agree with you, Pat.
yeah they have destoryed hand helds and games and all that
What's inside the Venus De Milo? What does the Mona Lisa taste like? Lets destroy art and history together to find out!
Cool shirt, I got mine in lootcrate the other day too!
