Shortly after the original Beats of Rage (SNK mod of the Streets of Rage engine) was first released in 2004, it didn't take long for an Ebay listing to appear that declared it was THE RAREST DREAMCAST GAME THERE IS!
Of course it was nothing but a burnt CD with the game on it, complete with the printed case images and inserts. I guess they thought adding the printing for free justified the $2,000 (or more) price they were asking for...
At least you got a physical copy lol. Buying a .zip dump of a rom is something new to me. Like it's hard to find any old site hosting roms nowadays or even ten years ago.

Dude here in Brazil this type of scumbag seller is so common. In "MercadoLivre" (our local Ebay equivalent) there are scumbags who put books for selling and when you look into the item descriptions it is in fact a PDF file! There are also people who sell "complete pokedexes" where they request you to send over your Pokemon cartridge to them so they can run a hack device on it to input the pokemons.
i remember a while back it was pretty common to see memory cards for playstation 2 on ebay with finished/maxed out games. like someone would complete a hard game get all the weapons supplies, money, whatever then sell the memory card. always thought that was kinda funny, i guess its just like buying a cheat code

I attended a convention called TooManyGames back in June of this year. I came across a seller that had NES cartridges of the ROMhack, Super Mario Bros 3mix. I asked the seller if he knew Captain SouthBird (ROMhack creator) and the seller did not know who that was.
He was charging $70 for the game, sure it came with a custom box and manual, but I did not buy it. Especially considering the game still have gamebreaking bugs and incomplete, so he's selling an almost unfinished game.
That's some shady shit, forreal, like ROM are ripped from the game, that's worse than illegal and should be punished.
All you have to do is email Nintendo and they'll have 2 dozen lawyers on the guy.

UGHHHHH WHY? If you really want to play these Roms, go download them on the internet. Sure it's illegal, but no one really cares that it is. Emulation is a huge thing. It's free. I'm not advocating for an illegal act, but it's just as illegal to buy the rom as it is to download your own for free.

It's because eBay does not give a fuck , they are making money off this guy and will only take him down if he's reported multiple times and then I'll probably just put them up again using another ID..
One retro game store in the UK tried selling CFWs and jailbreak stuff for consoles and handhelds for 20€. He had Wii, PSP and some other consoles there that are so easy to set up for a CFW that a dummy can do it.

I once saw someone selling a link to a movie rip (and it was sd nor hd) it also didn't have free shipping, and was more expensive than the bluray, and the worse thing was that he already had sold a few.
Another point they didn't mention: the vast majority his feedback is from dummy accounts. You know, the kind that sellers use to bid their own auctions up, with a name that has a character followed by a bunch of asterisks and then another character. Even the negative ones are fake! This idiot made fake accounts just to give himself negative feedback, probably to help sell the illusion because he realized that few sellers have 100% positive, but he couldn't even be bothered to come up with a username that was halfway believable!

That MK5 ROM is a pirate port of Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero for Sega Genesis. There's also a Super NES version, but I don't think it's ROM has been dumped yet.

Well I remember when I searched for some used xbox 360/ps 3 games back in 2009/10 I would always find offers with savegames not the actual games
I don't find this too surprising just since some dude sells roms on DVDS on Offer Up/Craigslists locally.
