Cheeseburger potato soup, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans, and tonight we had what I call fancy pigs in a blanket, which is brats wrapped in pizza dough or croissant dough.

My granny used to make huge “cat head” biscuits when I was growing up. There was nothing better than a biscuit with her homemade grape jelly on it for desert. So delicious.
I love this Rosa casserole. My recipe calls for quite a bit more tomato paste. But I know people will love this.
Yum!! My Sweet Mother-In-Law was from Alabama and made the best biscuits. We lost her in 2001 to cancer and she never shared her recipe with any of us. 💜

I made the chicken dumpling casserole a few weeks back, because I, too, have trouble with the dumplings. This came out absolutely fantastic! I used the flour I had on hand (White Lily), and the Better Than Bouillon chicken base. My husband actually said I should make a double batch next time. lol I'm making this again tomorrow, but will be using turkey and adding vegetables in. This is definitely going into rotation on a regular basis.

Hello Mel. I'm so excited to make your Chicken and dumpling casserole. My Chicken and dumplings and cornbread is my Family's Favorite comfort meal so I just know that they will like it in casserole form. Yum Sausage gravy and biscuits is another family favorite. I make a big country breakfast every Saturday. Fun fact.. I get request to make my sausage gravy for so many people, they will have me make them up a big batch of gravy and they come pick it up and serve it up. Anyway I would love to have some of your sweet Daddy's Jelly. Carrot cake is my absolute favorite. I've been waiting on one of his biscuit cutters. I hope that Y'all are having a wonderful weekend. I went to Walmart at 11PM to get the biscuit mix because I'm on the hunt for the perfect biscuit! Luckily, they had it! I made my biscuits the next morning. My lort the dough was sticky!!!!!! I forgot to grease the pan but they didn't stick!! I think the cup I used to cut them was too big because they really didn't rise that much BUT, man, they were good! I was sorely disappointed I didn't have any jelly to plop on them!! I'm making the chicken and dumpling casserole tomorrow for supper! I can't wait!!

Try the pancakes listed on the biscuit mix bag. My family’s favorite! Instead of making a stack of small pancakes I make them large almost plate size & 1 is plenty. A must try!

Hi Mel! Sorry I haven't checked in with you for awhile. I've been taking care of my Mom, she fell and broke her arm back in October and we just got her immobilizer off last week. Pioneer Milling is located about 45 miles from me and has always had great products. Glad you found them! 😊

As a southern woman the biscuit making gene..well it skipped me. That Southern Biscuit mix saved me.. but when I make chicken and dumplins... I use the bisquick garlic cheese mix.. adds so much flavor!
My mom made the best dumplings. They were big airy dumplings. I've never seen anyone make them her way. I just wish I learned how. Great video today.

Mel thanks for the recipes using southern biscuit. That stuff is a game changer. I made my first pan of biscuits and they turned out great. I was so proud of my cast iron full of fluffy biscuits. Now I just need Pops to come on so I can make some jam to go with them. I will be making the chicken and dumplings next. 😋

I love the Formula L flour. One lady told me it wouldn't work with just milk, it had to be buttermilk. So I have always used buttermilk and it makes the best biscuits ever! 💖

I used to make jelly all of the time and I made it out of juice.. I made apple.. grape..and mixed fruit like the restaurants have..white peach and others out of juice

Pioneer gravy is great, if you want sausage gravy but don't have any sausage use Williams Sausage gravy, it's delicious. 💖💖👍👍

Mel you can make your own buttermilk. 1 tablespoon to 1 cup of milk. It’s that easy 😊

Mel, I use that biscuit mix all the time. It does make a good biscuit. Leslie, over at The Farming Pastor's Wife uses that to make her biscuits. It also has shortening flakes in it. My grandma would always take the last biscuit in the can and make a little snake with the biscuit.

Hey Momma Mel, I'm the gal that normally doesn't peek through and comment. Just wanted to update you. I commented on your Thanksgiving video saying I was going to save your recipes for Christmas. Well, we're still waiting on Christmas. My daughter is still in the hospital, been there since Dec 19th, she's been sick since b4 Thanksgiving. Yes, our holidays were not the same, but thankfully we'll celebrate when she comes home. I'll need to look back and we'll ALL enjoy your recipes when she's FINALLY HOME!!!
