    I bought a JS bass not too long ago just for jamming and recording over my guitar tracks, best bang for your buck! Low action, fast neck, comfortable and sounds great running through my AX8 and FM3.

    I picked up a used Jackson Kelly Ellefson signature model from Guitar Center for $375. It's a little beat up but plays amazing. Used is the best way to go with the prices for new guitars going up across the board.

    A buddy got the 5 string version and brought it to me for setup, and I gotta say it was just an amazing bass! I was really surprised for some reason, I didn't know Jackson made such great basses.

    I have the entry level ESP Ltd B-55. Five String Bass. I bought it years ago. Maybe 2012? For $220. But I really wanted the Jackson five String Concert Bass. But. It had just come out. And the David Ellifson signature Bass. Also Jackson. Was just a little more than I had. Considering I only use the bass for flushing out my recording tracks. I'm not a Bass player....

    I've got a Tele, Strat, Paul, and a P-bass; game over! I did get a couple of Ibanez(s) because they were so cheap and both were set-up so low I could not believe it. That looks and sounds great! Rock on!
    Got the P-bass from Sweetwater and it was set-up so low that a few people might need to raise the action a bit... Kinda hard to order something from an online source but they promised satisfaction guaranteed. I was/am completely satisfied. Super low action.

    Cool review, max. Jackson makes phenomenal bass guitars. I do think they might be underrated just like dean basses. Anywho, the concert basses are definitely phenomenal basses to own if you play metal along with the spectra. With that being said, I’ve been thinking about adding a Jackson bass to my arsenal. Either the concert or the spectra.
    Another good choice for a metal bass on a budget are the Yamaha trbx and bb basses(which I own). the schecter stiletto basses are another good metal bass. The concert bass is phenomenal sounding. Especially with distortion. 😎🤘🏻🎸

      I got a js2 spectra in layaway, and watching vids about the brand kinda scares me if i come to find out i got something horrible. But it looks like i finally made a decent choice. Used market around me kinda sucks. First time buying instruments, so finding a used bass amp is kinda hard too.

    • @alexskibicki2262
      @alexskibicki2262 2 роки тому

      I’ve checked out the spectra bass about a few years ago and they actually sound incredible. I am intrigued by the punchy tones and the finishes that it provides. I also like the idea of passive/active switching. So it’s definitely worth checking out. I plan to buy one real soon.

  • @mikechecka292

    I got one of these on Ebay in mint condition for $145. Didnt even have any light surface scratches. Its the red one. It didnt have a truss rod cover but otherwise it was a brand new bass. The bass is great even at full retail price. The binding and compound radius neck are features usually only found on premium instruments. The bass holds tune and I havent had to worry about intonation as long as I continue to use the same string gauges. The translucent red w/black hardware looks great when the bass is strung with DR Black Beauties. I use a tapered set. Other than that IT'S A JACKSON. You can look at it and you'll have an idea who they had in mind when they designed these basses. You can certainly play any style of music with them but the bass wants to thrash. I have seen hip-hop/funk players using these. The Jackson Humbuckers sound great and the onboard preamp is good enough that if you just had to upgrade something you could change the pickups and keep the factory preamp.

    Max, you are the only other person I know who slaps bass strings the way I do. We're probably not that uncommon. I slap that low because I learned to dislike the sound of bass strings slapped against the fretboard. It chokes the strings too much for my taste.
    Now then, I have a couple of suggestions for future bass reviews. I have recently bought 2 basses. One of them is a Glarry GP II, which is a P-bass clone with a bone nut, better neck, fretboard and body woods and a Wilkinson pickup. Sounds GREAT for the money. The other is an Ibanez miKro short-scale axe, with a reverse-style P-bass pickup and a Jazz bridge pickup. Try those axes and you might find out that you like one or both!

    Thanks for the bass review video. I'm toying with the idea of perhaps adding one to my guitar collection / inventory, if for no other reason than I've never even attempted playing bass. So while I'm looking at entry level basses, if there are enough interested in you reviewing more basses, it will do nothing but give me information to make a better decision. One Question, Please?? Did it come with the Skull Knobs or did you add them?? (I had to ask after my significant other showed me your wife's latest video.) Thanks again for the great video!!

    Howdy. Would the neck nut be suitable for a five string conversion but keeping it a four string bass??? I have an old Tom araya esp version bass I converted to a 5 string sound and kept it at a 4 string set up. It took some custom work but it sounds great. Wondering if this could be configured to the same. And yea more bass reviews would be cool. Great video. Thanks

    I would not buy a cheap js Jackson if you wan't a working instrument. They may need a lot of drilling with power tools to get the thing set up that works.The neck feels good of course but so does anything else without laquer. Just go for Ibanez or ESP and you won't get something you need to have to use powertools on.
