Thank you! I live in pa and we seem to be getting early fall temps! My dad passed away back in May from lung cancer that spread pretty much everywhere. Today is his birthday, he would've been 57. Tulips were his favorite so I am planting some tulip bulbs for him today.
Thank you for this! I’m surprising my boyfriend and planting orange and black tulips in his flower bed. I chose those colors for his favorite football team colors. I’ll plant them while he’s at work and come spring he will be so surprised!! This video was helpful to make me feel less afraid!
I love your videos! Just retired Oct 2019 after traveling for 30 years and now I'm learning to garden in the Indianapolis, IN area. You do a great job. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Bret . Congratulations on your retirement ! What a super hobby you picked up . I'll bet you have a yard filled with gorgeous blooms in no time . Welcome to our Flower Tribe 🌸😊
Thank you for the awesome video. I’m from Sacramento CA. I planted red tulips today 11-22. I’m also planting Amaryllis. I love both. I plant my tulips in pots. They are so beautiful 😍. We’re so blessed that God gave us these beautiful plants. Every time one blooms it’s a kiss from God. Blessings to you 🌹🌹
I'm from Rhode Island. Thank you for your great video!! I love tulips. They are my favorite flower so I am going to try and plant some this year. This video was so helpful! Thank you!
Kelly, I am located in St. Louis, Missouri. Last year, I planted tulips in my flower pots for the first time. I wanted them to let me know when spring was here. Unfortunately, I planted them upside down and I planted them too late. I did get a few flowers, but I got so few that my pots looked sad. ha ha. Thank you for your tulip tips. This year I know exactly what to do! Dana
Oh those rascally squirrells. I read some where that if you scatter kitty litter around the bulbs and put a litle it helps deter them . I've also heard from members of our Flower Tribe that putting shavings of Irish Spring soap around the top of the ground where the bulbs are buried helps too. good luck keeping these critters out . 🌺🙂
Good day, thank you for the information. I am located in Nova Scotia , Canada and will be planting my bulbs today as it is reaching that fall temperature of around 50 - 60 degrees oF. I will be planting tulip’s that are from Holland. Dark purple , pink and light purple, my wife picked them out for me to plant and your video helped out in what needs to be done. Thank you,
Thank you Kelly! For my birthday, back in May, my fiance gave me my tulips, which are my favorite flowers. I'm not to keen on gardening, but they came with directions on waiting til the fall to plant them. Needless to say I forgot to plant them. I Googled to see how to plant them and came across your video. Thank you for showing me how to plant them and letting me know I wasn't too late. I live in SC and it was in the 80's° four days last week so I am able to go ahead and get them in the ground today! I'll definitely take a look at your other videos so I can learn more about establishing a beautiful garden. Thanks Kelly! 🌷

Hi from Minnesota loved your video as I'm going to plant tulips for the second time. I'm eager to get started which I thought I'd do today September 26 so good thing I watch your video.
Oh that’s so great . I will be doing more planting videos in the spring. My favorites flower seeds to direct sow in the ground are sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos , and celosia . They are all super easy to grow in full sun . 🌸
Nova Scotia Canada. I just planted some glad bulbs for the first time. Wish me luck. Tulips are my all time favorite which I plan to do NXT as soon as I can find some !

Hi Patricia , one of my favorite parts of gardening is the dreaming up my garden stage . So fun to plan . Thank you for your comment . You just gave me a great idea for a new video 👍🤗🌻
Hi Kelly thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I am not a gardener but my Mandavilla died (of course) but my soil in the pot is brand new and it feels like a waste if I don't put anything in. So I googled and tulips are straight and look normal. Just the way I imagine flowers.. So I will put something in my pot so I don't feel like I am wasting good soil and my beautiful pottery pot looks huge and blue.
Hi, thanks for your vedio, it’s really helpful. I’m in Ontario, Canada & it’s the first time for me to plant tulips. Hope it works. Maybe I have to wait 2 weeks or more
Very thankful to have found someone from NJ giving tips as I also live here. I was sooo excited about planting Tulips but it turns out I might jave to find something else bc my garden is part shade :'(. Maybe I will go with Hydrangea. What is a good small bloomer to plant with those? Like in the front roll? Thanks for all the tips
You may want to try planting a more compact hydrangea variety like Little Lime or Bobo . Also , you can try planting one peony to see how it does . Although they typically like being planted in full sun , I have a friend who has gorgeous peonies planted in an area that gets partial sun . Happy Planting 😊🌸
Great tips !!! I’m from from Northern Virginia ( Washington metro ) sane weather here as NJ. How about protecting the plugs from Squirrels ? I plant peach / cherry seeds they are gone the very next day , squirrels dig them out
Thanks for this great video. I wonder if you have any tips for planting bulbs in clay soil? I am planting in new beds created from existing lawn and I plan to make a deep planting hole, fill with some sand at the bottom and add potting mix when backfilling the hole. Is this a good method? And we have squirrels. Any tips on not losing bulbs to them? Thanks!
Hi Carrie i found some information for you on how to amend clay soil . ➡️ Soil improvement Most soil improvement methods involve adding something to the soil to separate or break up the clay particles. These amendments may be inorganic like sand, lime, calcined clay, vermiculite, or Perlite® or they may be organic like compost, aged manure, shredded leaves, decomposed sawdust or peat moss. Organic amendments are usually less expensive, add nutrients to the soil and are less likely to cause problems if too much is applied. For both types, improving the soil is an ongoing process as organic amendments decompose while inorganic amendments tend to migrate in the soil. Other methods for dealing with clay soil include simply replacing the clay with better soil, using raised beds, planting trees or shrubs slightly above ground level, using mulch to reduce soil compaction, and growing green manure crops. here is the source of the info ➡️ www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/Portals/0/Gardening/Gardening%20Help/Factsheets/Clay%20Soils%20-%20Annuals5.pdf
