I pulled this one off the shelf a few days ago and went up against Hastur as well. I had this game and took it back to Australia to show a friend and ended up giving it to him. Loved it so much I bought it again, along with all of the expansions. A really fun little dice chucker, in my opinion.
@writerguy911 It's a great game in a small box, and I doubt it will ever leave my game collection. I've only got one expansion, and sad to say, haven't played with it yet. I've only had it two years probably. lol
Where do I get those loaded Elder Sign dice you were using? Seriously, that was amazing rolling!
@Matt Levy I actually had them blessed by a priest. Unfortunately, he refuses to bless my Dice Throne Adventures dice. ;)

Nice retro play! I think Elder Sign is still a fun game based on your game play. Another game added to the wish list! Hopefully we can see you dive back into some retro games like DnD board games!

Mandy is a great investigator for solo.
I hadn't thought about this game for years, until I heard about the new X-Men game.

Thanks for the play through. Was curious about this game. I love dice games but am conflicted re: those that offer so many different ways to mitigate the rolls.

Glad to see this playthrough of one of my first AH games from FFG. It seems very similar in game play to Dice Throne. (Which I guess is to be expected - both being very Yahtzee influenced). As I am really into the Lovecraft mythos I guess I will stick with Elder Sign - but I enjoy your Dice Throne videos as well.
@Werdna Elder sign is a great small game to break out for a quick game ... while Dice Throne takes a lot of table space and could take a while longer. I like them both but would pick differently based on the time I have to play, table space, and the group of people. :)
Great video. I really like this game for what it is. You get a lot of atmosphere and production value in the box. Cashing-in for Elder Signs at the end is always anti-climactic, lol. Take a seat, Hastur.
@Ryan Lawrence For the size of the box, it does have a lot in it ... and I guess I could look at it as buying Hastur off, so something of a bribe. ;)

It actually gives me anxiety because I feel like this game and it’s expansions could up and disappear is the not too distant future. Might have to buy it before that happens. Lol.
Excellent game and excels with expansions. i've got all the expansions and each give a different feel and mechanic. best also playing with 2 characters solo. Egyptian expansion is great. you should check it out

Great play through, might give it another try myself. Was consigned to the back of a drawer after losing repeatedly. Any plans to get X-Men: Mutant Insurrection?
@forbode It's a tough game, and my rolls were a bit lucky in this game. I'm planning on an unboxing of Mutant Insurrection tomorrow and playthrough Friday. Hope you enjoy! :)
great game, though I wish someone would do a playthrough that involves the final battle with the "Great Old One" after it wakes up.

Would you recommend this or arkham horror the board game?
I own them both and would recommend both of them. Both are in the same world, with Elder Sign being a dice manipulation game and while it can go from 1 to 8 players, I prefer it at either 1 or 2. Arkham Horror the board game plays with 1 to 6, and I prefer it from 2 to six (so if playing solo, preference would be to play 2 characters). The game is more of an adventure game, but is a much longer game.

at 15:25 i'm not sure you can focus 2 dice, am I right? Only one per character!
@Leonardo Greca Those dice were "assigned" to the task, not focused. Hope that helps.
I thought you could either complete a task with a roll or focus one dice per character to save for another try. But you can't partially fulfill a task, only by using a clue token.
@@LeoGreca I know this is 5 months late but he’s using clue tokens to reroll dice. Clue tokens allow you to reroll any dice you want. He didn’t focus any dice during that turn. He just set them aside

I truly love game's like this one. We live in a day and age where it seems like everyone is playing phone app game's and spending money to win. I enjoy the games with luck and skill 😂.
Board games, we spend money to lose sanity. Sounds like a much better way to play games. :)
Nice playthrough. However when you unlocked the green dye you were not suppose to take the card as a trophy.
