I only just discovered this game a few days ago. I've been looking at more games from Fantasy Flight Games ever since I discovered their Lord of the Rings Lcg last year.

Sadly, as Wil seems to have found out, baiting He Who Is Not To Be Named can often bring unspeakable consequences. At our game table, we have adopted a house rule that strictly prohibits Hastur baiting during games.

I bought the game after watching this and it's AMAZING. A great introduction to board games imo especially since Lovecraft is my favourite author.
Lilith Le Fay do you have expansions for it? The game really starts coming into it's own once you add the expansions. Kind of a bummer as far as cash goes, but who knows? You might have money.

Ha, Will couldn't beat the easy version of the 'Public Lavatory", that card was supposed to have two monster tokens placed on it they didn't read it correctly.
They did place the monsters on it correctly, but by his turn in the video the monsters were both killed.

I adore Felicia Day (especially her time on "Supernatural"). I would SO love her to play Batwoman in a movie or hell even a TV appearance or ANYTHING. I would even take an animated feature but it would be better if it were live action.

+Zilla Fella Actually, that was introduced before Wil's turn, the round before. If the clock rolls around and always strikes Midnight before Wil's turn, then it would have changed and the old event card would have been obsolete, making their win legitimate.
@@tawnyclawx From the game play I got the impression that the clock only ticks once per full turn around the table. They are sure messing those things up with the editing.
Then again, you do not watch this to learn the rules or strategy (too many misplays for that, plus confusing editing) but to get a feel for how the game is to play.

I think i remember him saying in a video that the game is takes so long that getting 4 people to come in and play and record it that he won't be doing it. 4:20 Saying you don't believe in superstitions in this game is like being an atheist in the Forgotten Realms among other places. It's just living in denial.
I play a lot of wargames and tabletop games that require dice rolls, and I have to tell you, I'm true believer in the power of the dice. Playing as many games as I do you learn to respect them.
There are sort-of-atheists in the Forgotten Realms (see Mask of the Betrayer). In that case it just means that they don't believe that the gods are any more special than any other powerful creature. In this game, and many fantasy types of things there can still be people who can be skeptical about certain things. Just because they see some supernatural elements it doesn't mean that they have to believe in all superstitions. Hermione in Harry Potter didn't believe in divination, for example.
Anyway, I'm sure it was out of character.

I noticed that too. I saw the same thing and knew they were at a loss. + I believe earlier when the guy was rolling for 10 scrolls he had the ability to add +1 scroll which he ended up forgetting to use? Unsure about that though.
I don't know, however as we know these episodes are HEAVILY cut down from a two to three hour gaming session to a 30-35 minute episode with roughly 25-30 minute gameplay time. This usually means we see the 'best of' bits. It is quite possible that an entire round passed without us knowing.
Personally I'd love it if TableTop throughout the season released extended editions of most of the episode from their previous season. While watching a full 'directors cut' episode of TableTop can be a long ordeal, it is also very interesting and you get a better look at how the game plays.

Last night, at my local gaming club, we saw that the club had a copy of Elder Sign. I knew we had a copy, but I never tried to play it before since, looking similar to Eldrich Horror, I wanted someone else to explain the rules to me. Remembering this episode, I thought I could remember and explain the rules so me and a group of friends could play. I mentioned this and we started. While I overestimated my memory, we got over the hiccups and the game was awesome! We kicked the crap of Ithagua...or whatever his name was.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for putting this content out because it helps expose me and my friends to new and fun games to play!
Also, this might be an odd thing to mention, but, that same night, someone brought out a cool game they had bought: Tragedy Looper. It was also pretty awesome. Did a cool job of making a legit murder mystery in board game form. Just throwing that out there.

I dismissed "pasteur" cause I'm not exactly what it means. I believe it's the root word of pasteurize... something to do with milk. So it doesn't go bad as fast or is healthier? Manure was the low hanging fruit that didn't involve wikipedia. Plus, I knew it would get a laugh.

I was thinking exactly this, and furthermore that Mike could have added an extra investigation (his character ability) on his last turn to reach the 10 - which otherwise would have been impossible for any other character.
Marcus Östgård Mike can only add investigation up to the maximum on that die, which for green would be 3., The clock hits midnight after every 4 turns, which basically means in a 4 player Elder Sign game it should be one go around the board, so the Mythos Effect should have changed before it hit Bill's winning turn.
I have Elder Signs Omens on my phone and it is arguably the game I go back to more than others because of how different it can be each time.
I haven't played this but I can safely say that Eldritch Horror is amazing. I used to love Arkham Horror a lot but currently if I have a choice I will always grab Eldritch because the mechanics are just so much more fun. It is a pretty heavy game, but if you aren't afraid of spending potentially 3-4 hours on a game (depending on how many players, how much you go into the story and how much you spend thinking about the turns, you CAN get it to 2 hours) it's an awesome pick. My current favourite co-op game right now.
If you have gaming friends eldrich horror is a good choice, but if you're like me with little friends that playing boardgames I think elder sign is the best way to introduce them.
Mike misplayed when he only got nine, because he can turn a 3 to a 4. His card says so at the beginning of the game.

Well, I think the video is intended to be instructional and fun. There is no way they did a Hastur run on the first try. There are just too many variables. Sometimes all the cards play against you before you even start rolling the die. It's the pitfall to Elder Signs. You lose more than you win.
As to spell lock, the mechanic is not as strong as it seems. It is great in situations where you realize you aren't going to make rolls, and can therefore save a yellow or red for the next player who might not have a yellow or red bonus in his round. An extra die that's already rolled is still an extra die, yeah? Also, some investigators have abilities to transmute certain spell types to other types. So even if you realize you are going to fail, you might save something in the trap that is essentially a wild for another player with a transmute ability.
Also, they didn't seem to be having any 'at midnight' effects added. This is the thing that really messes your life up as the clock rolls around. 'At midnight' problems that bubble up every round that essentially have to be taken care of that round or they will bleed you all to death pretty much immediately if not resolved.
