❓ (my Affirmation below)Do you have Seasonal Shifts for your Daily and Nightly Routines ❓ Spring & Summer bring the need for some tweaks to mine. As weather heats up I need to get out in the garden earlier and earlier. Do I exercise, garden, and then do my Routines and Weekly Upkeep? Or vice versa? It something I'm musing on right now.
Affirmation: My home is cozy and calm. This is important for my mental wellbeing. I grew up in a dysfunctional house full of clutter and chaos. I find great comfort in the structure of routines. My home is truly a place I love to be.
Minimalism to me means making and maintaining room to think and live. If there’s too much clutter my mind is cluttered!
I’m not a minimalist. I don’t really want to be. However I do want a house that is organized and functional for my husband and I. What works for us might not work for others and that’s okay. But it does need to be functional for us. That’s my goal.
Thank you, Diane! To me, minimalism means feeling a lightness when I walk into my home, not a heaviness. I think this is very much linked to decluttering on a regular basis. I decluttered a dining room cabinet drawer today, and instantly felt lighter. Cozy but uncluttered works best for me!
Yes! That feeling of lightness!!
Wonderful! Rah, rah, rah!
My home is cozy, comfortable, easy to clean, and full of stories. 🦋
My affirmations: My home is not a to-do list. My home is tidy and peaceful. 💜
In a recent Minimal Mom youtube video she asks for people to comment/list positive channels on social media. I immediately thought of this channel ❤❤
Dear Diane, it was really good to see you today
Diane- I’ve recently realized I’m also a type 1 of DYT- and I’ve revamped my wardrobe and I’ve never felt so beautiful and alive!! THANK YOU
Whew, this one struck a chord! The first thought that popped into my mind was, "My home is not a collection of guilt." I've been feeling under the weather the last couple of weeks, and my routines have slipped. It's hard for me to jump back into things without harsh self-judgement, but guilt-tripping myself doesn't help long-term progress, in my experience. Instead, I want to see my home as a place that cares for me and supports my well-being. Time to help my home support me by jumping back into my routines and doing a short declutter session.
Love the affirmations!
My home is my favorite place to be.
My home is not a burden.
(These are my goals, at least.)
Love these!
So many of your affirmations resonated, but getting there feels so distant to me. In this current season of life I am a carer for my older disabled husband. Time and energy are at a premium. One foot in front of the other, 10 minutes at a time. Thank you Diane!
My home is mostly a reflection of me and cozy. I do love books and family heirlooms but I am being consistent to weed out items that I no longer use and love. Thank you, Diane, for your inspiration on this journey!
My home is a work in progress. After following your channel for a long time, I have recently noticed some significant progress!! Things seem to flow better and feel easier. Thanks for hanging in with me on this incredible journey. ❤❤❤
My home is going to let me regain it again in 2024 with the help of Diane in Denmark
Brilliant, Jacqueline!
Nice to remember that your house is a place you don’t need to escape from. This became even more clear to me during the pandemic. I enjoy being a homebody.
This video resonated with me. I'm gently encouraging my family to let go of stuff that they no longer need, working in the zones, and little by little I am starting to see a difference.
So lovely to see you! I’m practising enoughism in my house! We have enough and no more!! Easier said than done sometimes but I do my best!!! 🎉🎉🎉❤
Enoughism. Love that one. ❤
Minimalism for me is no unwanted clutter. I have a home that is peaceful and calm. I am constantly working on decluttering as I want a home that is easy to maintain. Less items means a quicker clean as well as finding what you want straight away. No wasted time and extra time for living life full of joy. 🎉
Thank you for being so positive, Diane! Minimalism to means my house feels cozy but still a relaxing place.
When I am home, I feel peace, ease, and no worries. I only surround myself with the items I enjoy and donate those that no longer serve their purpose. Everything is in its place (most days), and I can clean efficiently without having to move things around. My home is a blessing to me.
I want my home to feel welcoming and serene. To me, that means uncrowded, a feeling of spaciousness. I don't want a house that feels like a museum, rather a house that is uncluttered. That is minimalism for me. You challenged us to get rid of one item, so I got rid of some papers. Thanks, Diane.
My home is clean & tidy. A joy to come home to. 😊
My home is a blessing and is my favorite place to be. ❤
Thank you Diane 😀 Though major confession time ~ my home resembles,(in places) an organised bookstore , with influences of a plant shop both of which brings me hygge comforts and reflects my and my hubby’s tastes … but strict rules re not a storage facility for others and I could so relate to your list of phrases /Reflections/affirmations 😀 NOTHING BUT GRATITUDE FOR YOU DIANE xxxx😘
It's okay to have a bookstore home if it works for YOU and the rest of your family! 😍
My home is not a garbagecan😅
My home is a cozy place where I can be myself.
Love this, thank you!
My surrounds me with things I love, beloved books, cherished family heirlooms, things I have created, lovely art, comfortable furniture, cozy, warm. My home does not have trash, ugly things, broken items.
“First it is an intention.
Then a behavior.
Then a habit.
Then a practice.
Then a second nature.
Then it is simply who you are.“ (Brendon Burchard) 💖
Thanks to your videos, I have learned to face declutterring as one small task at a time, instead of an overwhelming, unattainable job. Drawer by drawer, shelf by shelf and box by box, gets the job done and keeps me on track!!
My home is a shared space. When you choose to live with family, you choose to live with their rubbish (oops I mean valued possessions!). I do sometimes dream about living on my own in a clutter free home, but for now I’ll keep my people.
My home is not full of my old fantasy selves.
My home is a safe haven that brings me joy and cultivates creativity and love. ❤
Love the affirmations, Diane. I’m making a set of motivational affirmation cards to help me when I feel overwhelmed or unmotivated.
Minimalism to me in my home is simple, clean, uncomplicated but not cold or boring. That in turn, makes me feel relaxed and calm.
I have been practicing minimalism for several years now. It’s made it much easier to keep our home clean and tidy and I know where everything is (most of the time anyway 😄). Our home is not just a house, our home is our sanctuary, filled with things that my husband and I love 🥰
I was wondering what you would come up with for this week. You are creative, watching you never gets boring. Enjoyed seeing your love birds again. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Diane, Minimalism to me is a feeling of order and calm. My home hugs me and is a relaxing place for my family and friends. Clutter free but not sterile. I always try to remember it's a work in progress not a final destination, that way I don't get overwhelmed or frustrated. And people feel relaxed, not uptight in my space. Your affirmation, " my house is not a dumping ground " is definitely for me. And I try to have the affirmation "my home isn't perfect but it's perfectly home ' ❤
My affirmations: My house is not a place I want to get away from. My home is a cozy, minimalist safe haven for me and my family. It feels so good to have it tidy and clutter free! Thank you, Diane, for the encouragement!!
I love ur "my home is" & "my home is not". What an excellent exercise!! My home is not chaotic ❤
My home works for me.
goals!
I love your definition of minimalism! I spent so many years not putting out seasonal decorations because I was afraid of my home looking cluttered, but since watching and following you I am putting out simple seasonal decorations that make life feel special everyday!
To me minimalism means that my house is a save space in which I can relax. The "my house is not a dumping ground" resonated with me. As it sometimes can feel like that, but werking towards the welcoming and relaxing feeling :)
Thank you for always being here for us , Diane!
Minimalism means "ease," in every sense of the word to me. Enjoyed your conversation and prompts for thoughts today, Diane!
I loved all these affirmations. The 'my home is not...' group really hit home. The 'my home is...' are huge aspirations. Decluttering is my path. It's working now little by little.
Thank you again.
Minimalism means a calm home for my family & I. The ability for me to focus on self care & calming my anxiety rather than cleaning. It allows me to spend time with my family & friends rather than worrying about housekeeping. Minimalism allows me to say “yes” to those things that make my heart happy ❤️
If my house is clean and tidy, everything in its place, then quite simply I feel calm and at peace. Xx
I love the affirmations. Also, I like how you say, "Let's just spend 10 minutes going through a bag or box." It is hard to let go of 'memories' that belong to our loved ones. Doing it together is a great way to talk about the memories and let them go! 🤩
Thank you, Diane, for your positive affirmations! My home is a peaceful haven. I am always working to keep it so. ❤😂❤
Minimalism to me is having a clean and organized home where I feel safe and happy. Minimalism also means a clear and uncluttered mind and most of all, peace and calm.
I'm not a minimalist but my home is cozy and comfortable and neat. Thank you Diane for your uplifting videos 👍
Thanks for the inspiration, Diane! My affirmation: my home is fresh, light, and welcoming-filled only with things I love and use. Perfect for my type 1/2 nature😉! See you and Carol tomorrow 💖
I laughed out loud - because I can relate- to “my home is not a storage unit for other people’s things, not a craft store and not a book store”. I will be working on these things.
I watch your videos during my evening routine which is the biggest challenge for me. The videos make it much more cozy! Thank you!
I just sat down for a coffee break and was delighted to see your newest video pop up. You always inspire me. Up off my bahookee again shortly, thanks as always! ☕
Same here😂
Yay, glad to hear it, KittyCuddler!
My home is safe.
To me minimalism is being confident that all you need will be. It is living with trust and not a scarcity mindset. A minimalist home is clean, calm, and peaceful. My home is a reflection of who I am not who I wish I was.
I have been in a funk and have not watched your videos in over a month. Time to get back with your inspiration! “My home is not a museum.” I always say that to my family (hubby and adult children). But it’s a struggle for us all as we are very sentimental and most of our family has passed away.
Love this video! Just what I needed today. Because I am still in the process, my phrases are going to be:
My home WILL NOT be a dumping ground!
My home WILL be a cosy, relaxing sanctuary!
That’s what I’m working towards,
Thanks as always Diane x
Love that, Charlotte!
My home is peaceful and calm.
My home is... company ready. That's somewhere between reality & goal LOL!
Hi Diane! Most of those resonated with me. Minimalism to me is a cozy, clean sanctuary for me and my family.
Fill my home with things I love❤! Identified as my/my family space, comfortable, want to love my space etc.
Dear Diane, thank you for being wise and thoughtful! For me, my home is a harbour of tranquility and wellbeing in this crazy hectic world.
I loved the positive affirmations/statements better than the negative ones. Maybe this is a statement for me: My home is a positive space to be in.
Your parlor looks peaceful and comfortable Diane.
A place for everything and everything in it's place. A clean tidy home without clutter. I do not want to burden my family with a lot of stuff to contend with when I am gone. I saw what my daughter-in-law went through when her parents passed away and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
For me, a minimalist house is organized, less cluttered and peace of mind 🧘🏻♀️
You have made me take stock of where I am in my decluttering journey - I thought back to how things were in my home a few years ago, it was chaos and we also had a storage unit 😮. Now, my house is still full but everything fits and the piles are gone, along with the £100 a month storage unit. It's still WIP but I'm doing better and I'm putting one foot in front of the other every day. Thanks for your support, Diane. X
That is quite an accomplishment, Lisa! Well done!!
For me it’s a calm and peaceful house that is easy to keep clean and tidy and that leads to a peaceful mind.
My minimalist home is an essentialist home…just enough of everything (clothes, housegoods, art and decor) in its correct place, that fits well/is in good working/clean to be pleasing to me and to lift my spirits. I love to travel and having a simple home makes it easy to pick up and go and delightful to return to at the end of a trip.
"My home is not a book store". OK Diane, I admit it, you got me. Just as I was feeling smug, too. Admittedly, most books are in one room, but I still have way too many.
For me a minimalist home is.one that is comfy, easy to life in, and reflects out lifestyle.
I'm just starting to see the results from decluttering and minimalism for me is less guilt from holding on to things that don't work, less stress from trying to make it all fit, and more time for the things I would really like to do. 😊❤
Diane , I loved these affirmations. Since I still have tons of decluttering ahead of me, I will use the affirmations as "My Home IS BECOMING a sanctuary, my favorite place to be, clean, calm and organized, etc."
For me, minimalism = simplicity. I am in a simplifying season of life now and am enjoying the process with your great videos. Thank you!
My home is not a rubbish bin. My home is not stuffed to overflowing with stuff, visual chaos or dirty. My home feels, sounds and smells like a spa. My home’s name is Fred and I treat him like a beloved family member who cradles me in love, comfort and hygge! I keep him clean, well maintained and sparsely decorated.
My home reflects me and my family, being me, being us. So I want our home to give rest and make us feel at ease, at home and in control. I want our home to be ready to welcome guests at any time.
And I also want our home to give us confidence that it's okay to let go for a while. For me this works better with less things and stuff.
My home is my safe haven, it reflects me beautifully, I can sense it´s good and calm energies.
That's a good one Diane: each time I'll see a good offer on a yarn store/webshop, I'll remember this one "my home is not a yarn shop 🧶😉 Thank you Diane for your always common sense 😘🥰😘
My home is for me and if I don't want extra decor just because it makes me "look poor" I don't need to. That is my affirmation. Great video! ❤
Hi Diane, I really like this idea of writing down what our homes are, or are not, to us. I'm a huge analog person and using affirmations is new to me. Also appreciate that "minimalism" doesn't mean bare bones living!
My house is not a storage unit for someone’s else’s things, love that
Realizing that minimalism means not feeling like my stuff is in charge of me. The routines are putting me back in charge of my stuff and my time. I have the right amount of stuff I just needed a process to feel that way
Minimalism to me is being able to find what I'm looking for easily and not having stuff spilling off of surfaces.
My home is a calm place where my husband and I feel the most comfortable. Thanks, Diane!! ❤
I like my home to feel simple and calm. Minimalism helps me keep it that way. Many thanks to you!! 🥰
Oh wow, many of those statements resonated with me. My home is not a dumping ground. My home is not a storage unit for other people’s stuff.
My Flylady zone sheets are evolving through these videos. On the back of each page is a growing list of self-care ideas for the week. I’m now going to add these affirmations.
Thank you, Diane! See you tomorrow on the DYT broadcast!!
Yay, looking forward to it tomorrow! 👋😃💖
Thank you Diane. My home is evolving - I’m not sure what minimalism means to me right now but I’m enjoying the process of figuring it out. I’m committed to following along with you to declutter and create a space that I love.
I'm still in the middle of the decluttering process after two of our children have moved out. For them it's much easier to let go of things, because I link so many memories with old toys and clothes. But I'm getting better. And thanks to your motivation I'm putting one foot in front of the other. A big hug from Germany!🤗
I moved into my new place nearly a year ago. There was so much stuff but over the past 12 months (with your help) I have got rid of so much. I’m still decluttering because I think there is always something that can go. I am so much happier with my space and how it looks now, it’s encouraging to continue 😊
My home is a reflection of my calmness.
We are back home. Never been so happy to be home. Just feels so right.
Wow Diane….everything you said …and almost every detail of your affirmations struck a sympathetic chord…..❤❤ Thank you for your marvellous mind… and cheers for every 10 minutes…..of decluttering and cleaning progress ….nothing beats progress!
Yes I love your affirmations to what your home is and isn't. My home is my safe and comfortable place. My home is not a storage facility. I will continue to declutter with you!
Love these affirmations. It is so easy for me to talk negatively to myself when it comes to my home.
My minimalistic home does act as storage for my grown children but the boxes and equipment are stored in my crawl space and have been checked and decluttered over the years. They know when I downsize in 5 years they will need to find new homes. Dianes 10 minutes is how I manage to upkeep the tidy calm spaces that I enjoy.
Hi Diane. Minimalism for me is freedom. Thanks for sharing some thought provoking ideas!
I so appreciated these affirmations and the one that randomly hit me was “my home is not a pharmacy”. I have a lot of extra bulk in the bathroom and bedrooms from past illnesses etc. I found 5 things in my DD’s room that qualify as clutter and can go!
Minimalist home to me means I am cozy when I wind down at night and can get to whatever I need in my house easily.
So many helpful thoughts from you, Diane, and from the folks who have shared their ideas in the comments. I want our home to be welcoming to others while being calm for me too. The home needs to work for both my husband and for me, and we are quite different from each other. We are very happy at the way our home has changed for the better over the past few years after implementing routines and hugely decluttering. Thank you dear Diane for your help along the way!❤
I am going home after 10 weeks away.
I'm going to have new eyes to the stuff and new eyes to what needs to leave.
I shall be considering what my home really is and what I want it to be.
The affirmations you mentioned are so true! I sometimes think I take my home for granted when it deserves more thoughtfulness. After all, our homes give us a way to take care of ourselves and the people we love. I’m a little behind in watching your videos, Diane. We got through a busy goat kidding season, and the 10 month old is keeping me on my toes.😂
My home aligns with my priorities and makes it easier to live a vibrant, healthy life
I am no minimalist and my house might be a book store😅. But its cozy, more and more well organized thanks to you. Definitely a place our family loves. And thank you for being here for us 🎉🎉🎉
Yay! Thank you!
