one of the best videos on the subject, if not the best one!!!!good job, well done. You have my job easier in the weeks to come..but first ..rounding up the tools and equipment. thanks
This will be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway.. If I wanted to replace the rear trunnion of an existing set of rifles with some beryl rear trunnions, what would be the recommended process? I'm presuming put the receivers in a jig, drill press the rivet head, then somehow press the rivet out? Once the old trunnion is removed, I'm pretty sure it's just installing the new one with a new set of rivets. I have to ask, I'm an AR guy, gunsmithing a AK is out of my expertise
Without reading through a thousand same questions. Where do I find these tools? I can build an AR all day long blindfolded, 80% lower or not. I have a nice 72" AKM kit, and found a 80% receiver. Barrels right now? Not so easy. Much less rivets. What is the press and the components?
Do you have any video showing how to properly press in center support rivets? When I try, the receiver wobbles too much and I can never get them to come out correctly.
Is it necessary to form the rivet head like that before pressing it with the final finishing head? My toth tool has a finishing end and what seems to be an alignment hole on the other side. Same concept just different brand. Any help would be appreciated
hey seems like you do this alot, what do you use for a finish on the receiver? paint, gun kote? black oxide? do you do the trunnions, receiver and trigger gaurd all at the same time? thanks
Why use rivets? Seams like a major pain in the ass for something a screw would work far better holding anyway, Sure you have to cut threads but with screws you could get everything apart without taking a saw to it.
Screws do not flex like leaded rivets. The AK was designed to have some give when fired, and you can see it if you watch any slo-mo of an AK/AKM being fired. Screws can actually be dangerous in AK's.

Someone needs to make a set of AK rivet sets that can be use with a pneumatic aircraft rivet gun.
soloban81 There is a video on here of a guy using one with some basic homemade jigs. it was gin something or other
I saw a video of someone using a custom made AK rivet set for a pneumatic aircraft rivet gun later on.
Is it better to have a 12ton press or a 20ton?

Any chance you'd make a video of how to squeeze the 4 short rivets on an ak100 series folder trunnion?
Lol safety Sally
image is low resolution, moving to fast to focus, no way to see something ...
What happened to your safety glasses?
What is a good source for getting the small tools needed for this type of job?
can I press the rivets with a press or vice without having that akbuilder tool?
Can you sell me a 9/32 ball endmilled cup tool?
What’re you using for the rubber pieces to support the receiver?
