I'm conflicted. Is it unimaginatively a slavish imitation of the 1980s Christopher Reeve movie, almost identical in some ways? Yes. Was it enthralling at the end? Did my heart race at the end as he zoomed off to the strains of the John Williams score? Also yes.
Christopher Reeve was an integral part of Smallville at the time of his passing. The ending was clearly intended as a final homage to him by the showrunners, cast and crew, tying the storyline in to his Superman portrayal.

Wow how cool to put both John Williams and John Ottman music for this video I'm a huge fanatic fan of Superman ever since I can remember from years ago in smallville there's 2 general Zod's Terence Stamp (voice of Jor-El) and Daniel James Callum Blue what a nice touch to smallville I'm sure that Tom Welling is proud of both of them I know I am since Terence Stamp did this 12 years back in season 05 I like in episode 01-arrival (2005,2006) and season 07 episode 18-apocalypse (2007,2008) they show planet krypton and red sun rao just like in Superman 1-The Movie (1978) and explosion of them both in that episode and the movie peace, love, respect, and God bless my friends.

I’d really like to see something wlse Burden of Proof was a pretty lame cop procedural show for Kristin but she was pretty rad in her Hong Kong martial arts flick and everyone loved her in Smallville.
It wouldn't be the fortress of solitude for long once any orbiting satellite got a picture of it...you can bet some military team would've been dispatched up there to see what that was all about
To tell the truth I don't remember seeing this and I was a Smallville freak back in the day. I remember Chloe at the end seem like she was telling a story & he opened his Jacket there was a big S under it then it ended, that's all I remembered.

Excellent in every way.

The only "battle" was when he was thrown by Darkseid possessing Lionel's body. That's when Clark finally realizes his flight ability and flies through Lionelseid and destroys him. The only thing you see in space is Clark pushing Apokolips away from the Earth and then we see Tom Welling's head CGI'd to footage from Superman Returns where Superman is in space suspended above the Earth.

I seem to remember the finale a little differently. There was a battle in space and Clark WAS wearing the suit.
CGI in most part except for the blue shirt with the S logo on it.
