I'm conflicted. Is it unimaginatively a slavish imitation of the 1980s Christopher Reeve movie, almost identical in some ways? Yes. Was it enthralling at the end? Did my heart race at the end as he zoomed off to the strains of the John Williams score? Also yes.
Christopher Reeve was an integral part of Smallville at the time of his passing. The ending was clearly intended as a final homage to him by the showrunners, cast and crew, tying the storyline in to his Superman portrayal.
Maybe some day. Rather see that that another gritty reimagining. Unfortunately, seeing superman (or any hero really) in his prime is boring to me because hes pretty damn untouchable.

This does both Christopher Reeve & Marlon Brando's (RIP 2 Both) perfomances proud. Your splicing together Terrance Stamp's voiceovers, cancels out the coldness Jor-El's A.I. showed; in early seasons. Excellent in every way.

The only thing you see in space is Clark pushing Apokolips away from the Earth and then we see Tom Welling's head CGI'd to footage from Superman Returns where Superman is in space suspended above the Earth.

the crystal were not logically smashed up badly. it was only to build a fortress and an extion territory of krypton only. and father jor-el wants it place where the green torch should must be re-assemble with the others so that me and superman should the green torch be returned back.
It wouldn't be the fortress of solitude for long once any orbiting satellite got a picture of it...you can bet some military team would've been dispatched up there to see what that was all about
i didn't realize it til i watched the video how "epic" and awesome the music is in all these fortress scenes and the scenes themselves are very good too.
Should've skipped over the seasons Lex wasn't there and continued on season 8 and 9 then watched the last episode of season 10 bcuz the last season sucked too

Apparently, Tom Welling agreed to play the role of Clark Kent only if he never had to put on the suit which is probably why you never actually saw him wearing it.
Now finally i can say i've watched all Smallville seasons! And now i'm rewatching seasons from 1 to 6 because they are the best! Season 9 and 10 suck! Althought i kinda cried when he became Superman in the 10th

Terrance Stamp was a fantastic choice for the voice of Jor El. Even though it was a bit of stunt casting since he was Zod in the Donner films, he was a great presence in the show pushing Clark to reach his potential.
In some future telling of the man of steel story, Kal-El is going to decide to locate the Fortress of Solitude in some place like Hawaii or Tahiti. Even with the volcanoes, the weather is better than the cold north.
