I only started playing the piano after 65 yoa and a life where I told people I had been born with two left ears. Every choir teacher in my youth told me to move my lips and not make a sound. I have a piano teacher and a friend who is a concert pianist, and they are helping me overcome my emotional baggage. This lesson was great, and I really want to take it seriously. I've been playing the first six pieces of Moulin de Ville. But I've started transposing them into different keys. This has helped a lot. Merci.
Haha, it takes more than 1/2 hour to do all the mentioned exercises. I shall do it and hopefully can make it daily. Thank you so much, Brenda! You are a gem.

Subscribed. Very simple exercises. I'm learning piano. I've played guitar for many years. I understand theory. I'm looking for technique. Looks good. Thanks.
Good job! Please, can you do a video of the complete play you started at 7:07? You stopped halfway it seems but I really wish to know full of it. Thanks for the great work!

This was very understandable to me. I'll consider looking in to more classes with you. I'm losing my eyesight. I want to figure out the best way I can learn to play by ear. I think it's either that or give up playing the piano. I'd rather keep playing, if possible. It's possible for me to see things on the screen with high magnification now, but I have no color vision. Not sure how accessible your course would be for this circumstance.
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉 Brenda, a structured practice to develop our ears fantastic skills for musicianship great steps. Keep up the amazing work kind regards Worrell from London
If you really want to grow as a pianist and have fun doing it then I highly recommend Brenda. She is experienced and she cares and knows how to teach and support your growth. She is my number one go to for piano.
Was this helpful for me? Yup? So much so that I watched it a second time with a keen ear to your singing exercise. Pun intended. I’m working my way through John Thompson volume deux, and making steady progress. I had been sight reading Bach two voice 0:20 chorales and Burgmuller, but had been having difficulties. My teachers are happy to accompany me along with Thompson, and I can’t wait to go back and see how those difficulties have been overcome..
Thank you for your tips and this helpful suggestion, i.e., practice does not need to be long in time to be effective. I have been discovering this phenomenon. However, I understand that more time practicing is usually best. I have been encouraged to practice 2 hours per day or at least build up to it.
Good video!! Could you please show how to play broken triads a little slower for both right and left hands and post a free pdf which I can download!!thank you
Something that helps me work through my bumbling stumbling and clunking through chord progressions. Get your fingering decided for each chord of the progression, then close your eyes and make yourself go through the progression. Try to feel your way around the piano without looking at it. As I told someone, unless you’re a fish with one eye on each side of your head you’re going to make yourself crazy. You can’t focus on both hands at the same time, it’s impossible. One of them is going to have to be on auto pilot. Two of the most inspiring and talented pianists, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. Both completely blind. Both masters of the keys. Think about that.
Yeah, it was a great way to get started, but it would have been a 100 times better if You would gave Us better examples of how to do this. But oh I see, now you're selling stuff. That's why you didn't give us good examples. Cause you want us to buy sorry.
Yes, you should be able to make a living, just like everybody else. Does I was just making a point of I was surprised because I didn't realize that's what? Was going on sorry you took offense to it, but that's your right.😅@@PianoandVoicewithBrenda
@@PianoandVoicewithBrenda I totally agree. Having worked with your membership, I do think you should have built your personal practice to at least an hour a day - say, 20 minutes x 3 sessions - before buying the membership. There is plenty of free material on your channel to help reach that goal of practicing up to 60 minutes a day.
You lost me when you used the word "should" far too often. In music there are so many ways of learning. Im a self taught musician. Never learned scales. Im almost proficient on piano (after 3 years of dedicated rehearsals daily) --- just rehearsing chords and songs. Never once worried about which finger goes where.
You can never know what you are missing without trying the other way. She is right, you should. It's not something she has made up. It's how human brain works, it's how skills are kept brushed. But if you wanna stay only in your comfort zone, and it is enough for you, of course you don't have to. But if you wanna improve, feel more satisfied, to be better musician or try new things, you should.
@@michellemonet4358 I really think you SHOULD HOULD SHOULD SHOULD SHOULD..🤣🤣 just kidding. Maybe this video doesn’t resonate with you but to alot of us yes. Piano is about having fun. So if you are having fun with what you know and that is your target then you don’t SHOULD. I’m in the music production so I’m practicing all this while im having fun. So there is not wrong just right.

Really good advice to learn piano properly, learning thoroughly the real skills that are necessary to achieve this. No cutting corners.
Excellent tutorial. I am following her schedule as recommended by Brenda. Thank you. Thank you.
IT would be helpful to Show exactly what a Natural or harmonic or whatever scale there IS. I only know Major and minor..
Blocking scales! This is excellent advice and it’s the first time I’ve seen it
It's a game changer!

Would someone explain to me please the practical difference between a `broken chord and arpeggio?
An arpeggio is like doing a cartwheel.
Thank you for a path to getting familiar without being condescending. You are appreciated.
Thanks - love from Bharat -INDIA

It doesn’t take 10-15 minutes a day to do all this.
Much more….!!!
