- Sanding, woodturning, gluing, gilding, planning, are what I/we do in this video. I also have a little chat about why I do wood turning in this video and briefly mention mental health.
I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your comments.
Very nicely made, was a pleasure to see the sealer being applied, brings it alive. ❤
Thank you Mr W, you can defo see why it’s my favourite bit eh?!
Wow wow wow, what more can I say, that is pure ingenious!!!
Awwwwww 🥰
I saw the photo on FB and thought that stunning, then watching the video and thought wow that's a great way to use off cuts and the effect is simply beautiful. A great watch and a fantastic idea . thanks for sharing
Thank you Andy! Was a very enjoyable make! 🤗
Really unusual and beautiful! ❤
Thank you Christine 😁😁😁👍❤️
Great use of smaller material pieces. love watching you turn and the commentary is enterianing as well.
I live to entertain you sir 😁👍
Really nice piece and a great way to use up scraps of wood the grain patterns are amazing Well done
I have soooooo many scraps! 🤔 what to make of more scraps!? I know! Another BOWL 🤣🤣🤣👍
Love it - really beautiful.
Thank you Mr Mills! I’m glad you liked it 🤗
Really love the way the figuring in the wood works together great job buddy 👌🏻
Thank you Dave! Bigger one also in Ziricote to follow in a few weeks 😁👍
@@WoodWithD I can’t wait to see that it’s the first time I’ve seen this wood. I may have to get in the workshop this week and glue up some wood 👍🏻
@@DaveGDesigns 🤣🤣🤣 defo 😎😎😎😁
Beautiful, I'm not frequently a fan of pieces that are glued together from offcuts but the grain and colours in that are absolutely gorgeous, love it.
Thank you very much Mr W! Bigger version is coming soon 😁👍
I've had to start pausing videos at the beginning to google all the woods before I watch 😆 Absolutely beautiful wood ❤
Goodness! Words such as? 🤔
@@WoodWithD Woods lol Including this one. I'm just one of those weirdos who want to know everything! It pushes my appreciation and enjoyment up even further. Beautiful piece made from stunning wood. Thank you.
@@nikkia9506 Lol, that’s a very good thing 😜😁👍
He has a lot of interesting wood hoarded in his rafters. Plenty more projects to come......and then can't wait!
Hi Richard. Just love the wood and design of the bowl and the gilding just takes it to another level. Fantastic use of the off cuts mate. Thankyou for sharing. Cheers 🇦🇺
I knew you’d like that one John 👍👍👍😁
So beautiful Richard, I just love it!!! I must get me some Ziricote, never turned it but now I have to 🤣
Thank you Mike! Not sending any of mine!! It’s mine! All mine! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please send me one! Pleeeeasaassseeee.😆😆
@@gemofthewoods5802 😁😁😁😁😁 No 👅
That’s a lovely bowl, love the patterns the grains make.
And definitely no to cold tea, even lukewarm tea is a no for me. Has to be hot hot like I’m about to burn my mouth hot 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just above like warm for me, so I can ALMOST drink it in one, but not quite! That’s my IDEAL temp 😁😁😁
Look at you turning a bowl!! I love it! That wood is amazing!
I can’t get enough of it currently! Loving it! I hope your show is going well 👍👍👍😊
I would not of thought of that! I will have to try gluing up 'bits' (did you think of segmenting and making even more use of that lovely wood?) Like you, those "no one else has seen this" moments are so addictive! A super bowl, from a super turner/ designer. Well Done, that man and Thank You for sharing.
Such lovely words David, thank you!
Tempted by the segmenting, but think I might lose some of the wood grain pattern with the smaller pieces 🤔
See you soon 😁👍
@@WoodWithD Good point about smaller pieces not showing as much of their grain. (...and my 'lovely words' included a bad mistake .. should be "I would not have thought of that!").
@@davidbaxter5132 🤣I make mistakes like that when I speak! Let alone write! It does make editing a challenge at times 🤣🤣🤣
This is a lovely little bowl. The color and grain in these pieces is fantastic. The thin gold ring around the top is exquisite.
It made me ask myself and wonder what ziricote would look like as a segmented piece. I might have to give that a spin.
Potentially blooming gorgeous! I will be looking out for that video with interest! Did you hear my comments of why o do this etc? Agree?
@@WoodWithDabout turning being therapy? I agree. I am sure that turning has either brought me out of, or even prevented, depression. And to see the beauty that each piece of wood holds, either inside or out, is simply amazing.
I already want to do a black walnut segmented piece. I’ll add a ziricote segmented piece to the list as well.
Stunning!
Thank you Louis! Fewer words than usual. Everything okay? Or would you have preferred a longer video ☺️
@@WoodWithD full of cold at the moment so not really feeling it. Video was fine. I could sit and watch you turn at normal speed and with all the sanding 😊
@@louisjackson4634 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s very relaxing to do and watch!
Get well soon 🤗 🤗 🤗
Amazing, loving the facts it’s born from off cuts !
You should see the other pile of off cuts for the next one! 😳 😁👍
That is a stunning piece. Loving the character in the wood!
Thanks dude, I am so in love with this wood at the minute. The smell is gorgeous too when working it 😃😃😃👍
@WoodWithD never worked with Ziricote, so will take your word for it on the smell. Definitely looks like a great wood type to work with.
Another brilliant piece Dick
Love it ❤
Thank you kind sir 😁👍
Me too! Love it 🦆
This is my favourite bowl you've done so far - absolutely gorgeous and the photographs at the end really showcase those amazing contrasting colours.
However, an 11 minute video Dick! I feel starved of your stuff! I was really excited to hear the words "I've started on another piece" - music to my ears
😆 well bless you! I have so many favourite bowls it’s ridiculous! However I suspect the bigger version of this one is going to be my most favourite for a while! Assuming it works 🤣
Remind me where in the world you are Lois?
@@WoodWithD I really look forward to seeing the results of a bigger bowl! I am your countryman although about 100 miles further north than you (my grandparents live in Orpington so I am hoping a visit to them aligns with a show you do one day so I can visit your stall!)

@@WoodWithD This is amazing. Thankyou so much! I will see you soon!
Very nice indeed!
Oh you did watch it! 🤣🤣🤣👍
Let me know how pops gets on with parquet 👍
@@WoodWithD Of course. I've got plenty of parquet, I'll bring some to the Christmas party for you.
@@anthonyjpaul might be fun just to just glue a bunch together and make a bowl! Can you send me a pic of some tomorrow?
@@WoodWithD will do
Check the parquet pieces first and make sure they don't have an embedded metal gridwork in them before glueing up.🙂
Dandy job, sweetie pants! Nice and tidy!
I try 🫣👍❤️
Beautiful work. I am so happy you didn’t not use the wood to make coasters. ❤
🤣😁👍🤗
Yeah, no coasters!
@@gemofthewoods5802 🤣🤣🤣👍❤️
So beautiful 😊
Just completing the bigger one of these, 30 x offcuts glued together, longest 13 inch, 3.5 inch tall, and putting feet on it too 😁😁😁 Video out in a couple of weeks!
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to enter the draw: ua-cam.com/video/tqvOh4HeO84/v-deo.htmlsi=CHGyt04S_WP7LYwp
Wow amazing!! I do wonder though what it would look like w a neutral or cool tint finish though! There are so many species of wood that are naturally warm toned that yellow varnish takes away the originality a little bit
Thank you 🥹😃
No yellow varnish used, I think the yellow is a trick of the camera or reflection off something, as the wax I use is Renaissance Micro-crystalline wax as used in the British museum 🤓 So no yellowing and never use any varnish 😊😇😁
@@WoodWithD oh wow that’s impressive! So it naturally gets warmer when treated
@@divinenonbinary I believe so 😃🤣
Lovely bowl but personally I do not think the gold added anything. If cold tea is a problem try Rooibos(Redbush), as long as you keep the shavings/sawdust out it tastes just as good when it is cold, especially without milk.
I hear you Edward, gilding doesn’t always suit everything and it isn’t everyone’s taste or mine sometimes 🤣
I’m a green tea man, and matcha 🍵, and gotta catch it just right. Fortunately i take a small flask to the workshop and if I’ve missed my ideal drinking temp, then I top it up from the flask 🎉
Lovely biscuits
Biscuits? 🍪
this time next year Rodney

@@patricksweeneywoodcrafts nope, still not quite following
Not exactly my cup of tea rich, BUT your attention to detail and finishing are second to none mate. It was a huge transition from blank to finished piece that is for sure.
Love you long time my friend!
Loved the piece. "Wood turning with Dick" must be very painful !!!! 😢
🤣🤣🤣 you know, I’ve been doing it a while, the turnings okay, it’s the sharpening that hurts 😣 😆👍
