  • Pete takes apart and fits a USB-RS232 Hub while rorganising his lab. Just a small device, but handy so as usual Pete just shares what he is doing. Not a full teardown nor a comprrehensive review - just a look at how it works for him.

I have the same 7-port hub (with the slightly pointless switches?) as you show, here. It (reliably) crashes my system! Don't know why. So it's gone in the "stick it on ebay sometime" pile.

Pointless buttones - and little lights - I think "marketing" must have demanded something to make it stand out! I have not so far noticed it causing any problems but it has only been connected for about an hour while recording the next video. I have another smaller hub that crashes my PC in the office, but works fine on my surface pro. I was also trying to sort out a problem with a friends surface laptop and we were plugging in various USB devices into 3 PCs, some behaved in one, not the other... makes little sense!
