Thanks buddy!! I’m drummer but I always liked Bass guitar because they are best friends haha. So I bought a 5 strings bass guitar because I like R&B, soul music and Jazz music. I already played electric guitar long time ago. Let’s go learn and play!! 🙏🏽

    What a gorgeous guitar!
    Thanks for the tutorial.
    Very helpful.
I’m a piano player and got an electric guitar to learn during Covid. But I’ve been so in love with the keys I’ve not practiced on the guitar enough to speak of.
So I got a 5-string bass. It just felt right. Like the 88 key piano, I didn’t want to short change or limit myself.
This is the first tutorial I’ve watched for the bass.
I’m looking forward to learning how to play it.

I've been playing 25 years....been playing a 5 string Stingray Special 5H for 2 weeks. I'm hooked. I absolutely love the extended range. I sorta wish I bought a 5er a long time ago. Great video! Thanks.

Finally bought my first ever 5 string. Great video! I find I’m more sloppy with it, with more unwanted overtone noise. Wondering if I should get a fret wrap or just figure out how to prevent overtones with just hand. Do you ever use fret wraps?

Did the same thing 1 month ago. Went 5 string just for the hell of it. No reason not to since 90% of 4 string applies to 5 string. Just a bit harder to find lessons like this that incorporate scales/patterns across all 5 strings on the fret board. It's tough spreading fingers per fret at the top of the neck (just like a 4) and harder to reach b string at bottom of neck (wider than 4, probably harder). I practice various exercises daily for 10-30 minutes, or until my hands are cramping, and i'm seeing daily improvements.
I think the extra work/effort on 5 string will pay dividends later and moving to 4 string will be more simple than doing 4 string and moving to 5 string. Added bonus: You will get even better at searching for specific information online than you already are.
I got a squire affinity, love it so far. I heard yamaha and a couple other brands have 5-strings in your range. Expect to pay another 200-300 for a decent amp, power cord and guitar strap. I grabbed a soft leather one that's wider and i'm so glad, it starts to feel heavy and dig into your shoulder after a while and a cheap strap would suck.
Squire affinity + rumble 100 amp + good strap + good power cord = ~$700-800 after taxes.

I just got me an Ibanez gio 5 string whats like 260€, guess it could be like 300$ but it won't be wasted money if you spend these ~50$ more...my first, 4 string bass was like 150€...at the end it depends on you what you want to play

I did things a bit different by buying 5 string bass string and putting them in a 4 string. I call it a decapitated 5 string bass. It's tuned B0, E1, A1, D2. I think it sounds pretty good. My reasoning is that a regular guitar has a G2 string. If that string is needed the guitarist can do it.

0:30 the moment I sub’d, 🛎, and dusted off a friend my wife bought me about 5 years ago. As a musician (compose & produce), I’ve always had a strong love for the bass. I was gonna take the “easy” road but, I’m a Gemini 🤨🤔🙄 So I challenged myself to learn how to play. Within the first 30 seconds, your energy drew me in. Now you have a new pupil prepared for tutelage. 🤦🏾‍♂️

I jumped into the deep end I think and bought a 5 string bass, but the strings look closer together on my Ibenez than they do on your Bass is that custom built? The reason im asking is like yourself im a big guy and Im always seeming to have my fingers over lap on other strings while im trying to play. Love the Video Thanks.
