Do they make charging systems that charge your trolling motor batteries while running your big motor

How would you connect a minn kota alternator charger to a two bank onboard charger. Cranking battery is 12v and the trolling battery is 12v. Thanks

Are you able to keep the wires connected at all times when you are using the boat and also when charging?

Do they get paid extra by placing serial numbers in places where they cannot be read?

Unless I'm missing something, you still have to remember to plug in the onboard charger.

That's my question for some reason I thought onboard battery chargers took the power from your big motor battery and transferred it to your trolling motor battery so everytime you ran your big motor it charged your other batteries because why else would an onboard chargers cost 300 plus dollars that you have to plug into an outlet

@@dewaynesmith8925 late reply. There are some systems that do that. They’re called alternator chargers or dc to dc chargers. You normally are not running the main motor enough. To fully charge the trolling battery’s. With those systems. If you think about how many hours it takes to charge a battery. When it is plugged in. The cost of the onboard plug in chargers. Partly has to do with you are buying three or four chargers. That are built into the same case. They call each charger a bank. Depending how many battery’s you are charging at once. Plus it needs to be waterproof and vibration resistance. It is more convenient to plug in one three bank charger. Then using three portable chargers. That you have to hook up to the battery’s by hand every time. Plus these are smart chargers. Makes the battery’s last longer before replacement. Compared to the super cheap dumb portable chargers.

Hey guys, I have a MK330PC (2-3yr old) and went to charge my batteries today and noticed bank 2 wasnt coming on. No lights anywhere or anything, the other banks, 1 & 3, are working perfectly fine. Fuses were checked and connections are good. I removed it from all batteries and unplugged it and let it sit for a couple hours then re-hooked it up and had the same issue. Any ideas on what would cause this? Or what i can do to potentially fix it?

      Colton Parrott,
If you are getting no lights on bank two, that bank has gone out and is bad. The chargers have a 3 year warranty from date of purchase to the original purchaser. If you are the original purchaser and are within the 3 year warranty window, you can call Customer Service at 800-227-6433. They will need a serial number off the charger and a copy of your proof of purchase. Once they have that information they will set up a replacement charger.
      Best Regards.

I'm getting a flashing gree on my lead acid battery and a steady green on my 2 trolling motor agm is that normal

    • @MinnKotaTutorials
      @MinnKotaTutorials  11 місяців тому +1

      Hello Daniel,
Yes, both indications on the battery charger are normal. Flashing green indicates the battery is fully charged and the charger is in maintenance mode, outputting at low amperage to keep the battery topped off. A solid green light also indicates the battery is fully charged, but is in standby mode. It is not outputting, but is monitoring the battery and will start charging should the voltage drop below 12.6 volts.
      Regards,
      Mike N.

Shoud the onboard charge be hot to the touch when charging

      Mat Heinz,
The Chargers are very hot to the touch that is why they need to be in a well ventilated area.
      Best Regards.

Classic example of not getting to the point. Tell me how to Build a watch when I ask what time it is.
