I love this game so much. The animation is beautiful, the characters are all true to form, and the gameplay was so much fun. Also, that Mickey impression is spot on!
Cuphead is a completely different artstyle. Unlike that game, this isn't based on Fleischer Studios art. This is a stylised, contemporary look. It is apples and oranges to compare the two. Also playing as opposed to just watching is a different vibe altogether.
There's a lot of sleeper disney games tbh. Like the DS version of Alice in Wonderland, which is honestly fantastic, unlike the bigger console versions, or the movie (possibly because it took massive liberties with the actual story and characterization)
I am that one guy whose disney knowledge is almost non-existant, but this game does look like fun time and the artstyle look unique as well. Also, Let Shoppy give Ted that massage... and that Impression was pretty goed Jirard!
I wasn't too sure about this game when I saw it announced - after Disney Dreamlight Valley left me kinda disappointed, I was hesitant about Illusion Island and passed on a pre-order. But listening to Jirard talk so positively about it, I may have to give a try!
Actually being able to equip those iconic costumes makes total sense, but maaaaaan, i can only imagine the amount of work it would take to animated them all in 2D....
Man, I already enjoy your videos. But knowing you're a Disney adult as well, and it seems, shamelessly, makes me so happy. I loved Illusion Island too. Glad you had fun!
I am still in awe of the opening for your show. Every time I see it I feel like a kid, watching something epic on a Saturday morning =3 Thank you for being..you=) Great episode, as always=3
I wasn't sure on this game, but when I saw this video go live with the title it has I knew I had to snag it. And I'm glad I did. It was quite enjoyable. I'm still working through Iron Mouse on my own (almost to Boss #2!) but I've enjoyed it. The humor was spot-on as well. I'm also really looking forward to seeing speedruns of this game because it's built for it. Especially with those multiplayer abilities.
In my opinion, a good competition experience always guides you to the the most enjoyable parts of the game. Whether or not it gives a good explicit reward doesn’t really matter if it does that
This looks like a fun game I could see playing with the kids. Having the easy-to-adjust difficulty with the health system is nice for letting younger players still feel like a part of the experience. And I do love Mickey games, like Mickey Mania and Epic Mickey (and Kingdom Hearts, though less Mickey focused 😜). I’ll have to give this one a go!
Great video, classic Completionist content and got me interested in the game. Thanks for continuing to make quality and consistent content. I always know I'm in for a good time when I see a new Completionist video.
I'm enjoying playing through this game; it really is charming in almost every way. One thing I wasn't quite expecting was the humor; a lot of the dialog is funny and the jokes actually got me to laugh, especially anything Donald says or does.
The fact that this is a metrodvania style platformer and has a unlockable hard mode just makes me even more hyped to get it, low key thought they might leave a lot out and direct it to a younger audience
I'd note that technically a fully exploratory metroidvania isn't a new concept, but most of them others (if not all) are mostly indie games, many of them highly recommended too.
There was a new update that includes obstacle courses. I’m wondering if that changes beating it to 100%? I just beat the game yesterday and although I’ve collected everything I’m not at 100%. I’m not sure if you have to get gold at all of the obstacle courses now of course I didn’t beat iron Mickey either I was just trying to get the gold statue in the game.
Of all the characters I've seen with a beard, on this show, Beard-Bro Mickey is, BY FAR, the the oddest looking! And I absolutely LOVE it! BWA HAHAHAHAHA!
I literally just picked up a physical copy of the game this. I get home and put it with the rest of my games planning on opening it up, then I see that this has been posted and I'm taking it as a sign.
This was a game I was pretty sure I wanted to get, but after watching this video I knew it was one I would love - grabbed it today and loving the few hours I've already put in
Never played that 3rd illusion game. Didn't know it existed. Now it's on my radar thanks. Don't line the art style of new mouse but willing to forgive if the game is decent
i found a t shirt in a charity shop (thrift store) a while back that was from d la la studios, thought it was a tattoo shop at first until i looked it up and found out about this game
I might get this game. I love animation and I love these characters. And it’s honestly nice to get away from the toxic “corrupt corporate mascot” crap to just enjoy Mickey as a cartoon character.
I'd love to play this- I loved the 90's Illusion games. I know this looks a different style to them, but it definitely interests me. Just waiting for the price to drop a little bit.
The original steamboat Willy is going into public domain. Something that should have happened to the entire franchise of Micky Mouse if we’re being honest.
Don't know Dlala all that well, but even though it was likely made to make sure Disney keeps the copyright of the Steamboat Willy versions of the characters the game looks like it was pretty good. Should contact them to see if they might be interested in making an original IP.
I like ease games and hard games the same. My issue with this one is that we hardly ever see something form Disney, making an easy game makes one finish it soon and wait longer for the next release. They should release more
For much of this video, I kept feeling an underlying sentiment that "easy is bad," as well as a (perceived) implication that being a Disney adult and having that existing attachment was the main thing that made playing this game a worthwhile experience. I just wanna say, mindsets like these frustrate me. Easy games can be great too. From what I can tell, had this game not been based on the Mickey Mouse IP at all, it still would be a great game, but the way you spoke about it almost made it feel like if you don't care about Disney at all, this game has nothing for you. That just kinda got under my skin is all, since this game looks so fun. Thanks for the video though, it's good, my mentioned sore points aside.

A lot
That impression was Pluto on! *bad joke is bad*
Who made the thumbnail?! Disney?!
Jirad I hope you complete “FARCRY 5” in the future. I know it’s random, but it’s a great game:)
megaman zero when
I love this game so much. The animation is beautiful, the characters are all true to form, and the gameplay was so much fun. Also, that Mickey impression is spot on!
You are not wrong
Yep
They don’t constantly show mickey and Minnie’s ears 😭😭😭
Cuphead is a completely different artstyle. Unlike that game, this isn't based on Fleischer Studios art. This is a stylised, contemporary look. It is apples and oranges to compare the two.
Also playing as opposed to just watching is a different vibe altogether.
Really seems like a fun game. A shame Disney isn’t pushing their Mickey IP more, could be a sleeper hit. At the very least, another cult classic
Disney not caring enough about Mickey and his friends is just blasphemy.
There's a lot of sleeper disney games tbh. Like the DS version of Alice in Wonderland, which is honestly fantastic, unlike the bigger console versions, or the movie (possibly because it took massive liberties with the actual story and characterization)
that IP is going bye bye next year.
What makes this even worse is that this game came out the same day as the final episode of the Mickey Paul Radish shorts which are amazing.
they are to busy losing billions of dollars with bad decisions.
I am that one guy whose disney knowledge is almost non-existant, but this game does look like fun time and the artstyle look unique as well.
Also, Let Shoppy give Ted that massage... and that Impression was pretty goed Jirard!
Seems like a fine entry-level metroidvania. I have zero interest in playing it, but it might be a great introduction for younger players to the genre.
You sound so edgy!
@@jarlwhiterun7478damn you're Soo cool for that

Glad that completing Illusion Island was like a treat for a hard working Completionist like yourself Jirard.

That Mickey impression was excellent
It was better than I expected.
IKR I thought that was a soundclip they edited in for a second.
I am still in awe of the opening for your show. Every time I see it I feel like a kid, watching something epic on a Saturday morning =3 Thank you for being..you=) Great episode, as always=3
Shopify add was great!
This game does have that Disney magic in there, I will agree with you there Jirard! (I'll have to play this game someday when I get the time for it!)
I wasn't sure on this game, but when I saw this video go live with the title it has I knew I had to snag it.

not really into disney but I love me a good ole metroidvania even if there is no combat
Really dig the style of this game

This game makes me feel that nostalgic feeling that I got from the Mickey Mouse games from the 90s and I love it
Me: wait. Have i not seen this video already some hours ago?
Me too
Disney adult here who can’t wait to play this one with my kiddos
22:00 that's why I love your reviews. I decided if I want to play it or not, you just help me know if 100% is worth it
This game looks so good. Your completion review seemed fair and well thought out from what I've heard. Can't wait to play it with the family.
thats a really cool intro. i like your videos style. feels premium compared to other channels who dont put in as much effort or care.
The Animation and Art Style Story of *Disney Illusion Island* is Absolutely Incredible and Remarkable! I Absolutely Love playing this with my Friends!
That IS a GOOD Mouse impression.
In for the DLC pack that adds Oswald, Hortensia, Clarabelle, and Horace as playable characters!
I love this design of Mickey and friends the cartoon series was really fun and had a lot of weird meta jokes that made me like it even more.
Great video, classic Completionist content and got me interested in the game. Thanks for continuing to make quality and consistent content. I always know I'm in for a good time when I see a new Completionist video.
Love finding hidden mickeys at the parks. This game looks super cute and fun!
Happy 100th anniversary, Disney! #Disney100

Totally playing this with my kid!
Basically Rayman Legends, but with a metroidvania world and starring Mickey Mouse?? 🤔 Neat.
The idea of doing a game like this without combat and focusing more on actual platforming mechanics seems like a unique concept
Immediately when you mentioned the writers of the modern cartoons were involved, I was sold. 😂
My immersion was broken when Ted and shoppy were in the same room together. I thought for sure it was him
The fact that this is a metrodvania style platformer and has a unlockable hard mode just makes me even more hyped to get it, low key thought they might leave a lot out and direct it to a younger audience
7:41 is that the mall music from Dead Rising?
"That's a pretty good impression."
Me: It actually was! o.o
thank you Shoppy ❤
I liked it when Shoppy massaged Ted
I'd note that technically a fully exploratory metroidvania isn't a new concept, but most of them others (if not all) are mostly indie games, many of them highly recommended too.
I was 3 minutes into this morning, put my phone in my pocket for a bit and then the video was gone lol
A) yes guava does slap. B) I learned what metroidvania means here C) I'd play this for sure
Nice DKC 2 Music in the beginning!
I see World of Illusions there on the shelf, nice!
But, I don't see Castle of Illusions!
WHERE'S MAH DANG CASTLE JIRARD!

Great review, but… the Shopify ads keep getting better 😂
SHOPPIE!! 👁👄👁
Great to meet Shoppy 😊
I seriously look forward to your videos every week!! Another great one, thank you!
Heading to Disney again next week, and I too love looking for hidden Mickeys
Came to watch completionist got impersonationist too. Kudos.
the memorabillia unlocking skins would of been the best reward and made it a perfect reward for disney fans
Your Mickey impression is spot on!! You should definitely bust that out at parties more
This game was a blast, great platforming, so relaxing. I 100% my profile on the first playthrough no problem. Can't recommend this game enough.
You should try the Fantasia game, finding a copy in of itself would be a achievement.
Of all the characters I've seen with a beard, on this show, Beard-Bro Mickey is, BY FAR, the the oddest looking! And I absolutely LOVE it!

This looks so much like the new Rayman games: Legend and Origins.
I like these types of ads! If you still like it Jirard I say keep doing them!
Hey Jirard, sometime soon, can you do a completion of Gravity Circuit please. You're the best man.
Finally, that game at the bottom of the eshop coming soon list is here.
I love this channel!

The game looks super Casual. Disney Illusion Island hope you had fun playing the game in making the video.
Pretty good impression

If I'm not mistaken, the lead character designer for this game also worked on Battletoads 2020

Yo this is my goty not even kidding. Illusion island, TotK and D4.
Man, seeing this makes me really miss the Ubiart Rayman games
Lovely!
He’s Back Yet Again
I will have to check it out! Another great video.
Really feeling the game's charm and art style. Really wish the game didn't zoom out the camera so much on certain screens though

Convinced me to buy it! Thanks for the video!
I can’t wait to get this
You did the Mickey impression better than the current Mickey does! I love it!
I honestly thought it might have been a voiceover, but learning it was really him makes me think Disney should contact him about doing something.
@@wariodude128 probably wont do any good if what i saw this mornings true. Mickey Mouse is supposedly being retired as of yesterday.
@@JuliaSin That would be like Nintendo deciding Mario is not going to be involved in any game they make moving forward. No way that would ever happen.

so glad you did this one. I was interested in picking it up but am definitely going to snag it now
