I'll never understand how Violence of Summer wasn't a massive hit, I think it's among DD's catchiest songs, it has the most incredible energy. I still hope, 30 years later, that it will be picked up to feature in a commercial, I think it's that powerful!
Excellent doc from Liberty era. It's interesting to see how they didn't feel complete with just three members. Liberty is the "lost" Duran LP. There are a lot of good songs on it. If you haven't heard it, check it out.
The "lost" Duran LP is Reportage - I hope that they do release it, regardless of the form - it could be released as the "Unfinished Duran Duran album".
Roger's now a longer serving member than ole Wazza. He was an original member from 1978-1985 (8 years), and is now a returning member from c2002-2013 (11 years).
I have been a fan since 1984 and I always saw this Liberty as Duran's weakest point. I enjoyed the album and supported them. Seeing a second keyboard player when they played the Liberty stuff was strange to me. It was an odd time. Then in 1993: BAM!!! Ordinary World and the Wedding Album came out. I was so pleased and what a perfect soundtrack to my life.
I was a huge Duran fan, but didn't even know this album came out till I saw a used tape for sale a year after. Made me kinda sad.. That's how "out" they were at the time. There was no internet then.
First day buyer (midnight at Tower Records) they had a great in store magazine called Pulse that had a great feature on them. Simon: "How can you be New Kids on the Block at 30?"
It had some really good songs on there, but i think it was a transitional record since they officially brought in Warren and Sterling. Sorta like how Notorious was when Andy & Roger left.
people don´t esteem this album that much because its mainly a rock album far different from the pop material they have been doing all along.. at least its my thought!
An amazing album and one of their best. It really is better than ..for example." Seven and the Ragged tiger " and " Notorious" ( Song per Song) . The weakest song is "Violence of Summer". But "Liberty", "Searious" and " Hothead" are brilliant Duran songs.
judging by Simon's hair, tje Violence Summer video and the fact that the album production was probably done by that moment, it's something between August and October 1990
Definitely a very enjoyable album, even better than Seven and the Ragged Tiger (overproduced IMHO) and much better than Big Thing (although "Do you Believe in Shame" is a real gem💎) probably their best one of the 90's alongside with Wedding Album, yet better than Medazzaland, interesting because very experimental and with 2 gems 💎💎 (Electric Barbarella & Out of my Mind) but too fragmented for the rest and than Pop Trash wich isn't a bad album but isn't cohesive. Obviously IMHO and with all due respect 👌
I never liked him, he acts as if he helped create their sound. The original sound and what put them on the world map was Andrew Taylor's guitar riffs not Warren.
@@novaphonix8284 John Taylor is the band's founding father. Without him starting the band there would be no Duran Duran. So Andy is not what made the band either. And without Simon's lyrics DD would not have had songs. Andy is not missed by me and neither is Warren. They had the same ego.
Totally underrated album. It sounds totally different than anything they did before, and everything they did after "Liberty". One of my favorites!
Criminally underrated, every track on Liberty is absolutely brilliant!

⭐️✨️✨️ Brilliant Album Happy 32nd Anniversary ✨️✨️⭐️
The gem of the album for me was, "My Antartica".
#Lovingallthebandinterviews with @duranduran #regardingthelibertyalbum !
💜💝♥️💖
OMG!!! NICK!!! love that man!
and the sequinned trousers :D
I love this era! No matter chart succes in Argentina Violence and Serious were super hits with a lot of airplay in radios and tv.
Really?
Great music. True feelings, and perfect attitude. Can You Deal With It!?
Happy anniversary Liberty album!! 25 years!!

@@clonmult Reportage is definitely "more lost." I don't see Nick okaying the release of that one anytime soon.
Eu adoro Serious, My Antarctica e Violence of Summer.
perhaps this album has been overlooked and underestimated
Eran tan jóvenes, pero ya habían alcanzado la maduréz musical.
This is gold.
Love😊🎉you ❤️ 💓

Warren Cuccorollo was in the band for 13 odd years! Long than either Roger or Andy Taylor. A great guitarist!
But people still hate him, just because he was not an original member. I'm shocked sometimes.

You are so wrong!! you cant understand experimental phases inside the world of great musicians, really. And enjoy them
Thanks for your OPINION. LOL!

I'm a sweet Duranie!!!!!!
Thank God Warren is wearing a shirt in this interview!!😬
O Nick está lindo nessa fase ❤

my god john is so beautiful
Duran Duran big thing
I mostly love John. But I like Simon and Nick too.
I liked this album, I rate it above Red Carpet Massacre
omg Jt sooo gawjus
His hair was extra beautiful like this :)
as a matter of fact, he played on the big thing tour with them, he played keyboards and the trombone

Nice.

I feel this album could’ve used a little more time in the oven. Idk some ideas were cool but not fleshed out or polished enough

It's not their best, but It's Very far from their worst. This was the First dd vídeo aired by MTV Brasil back in October 1990
1:28 mmm... quéee hermosura de hombre con esa cabellera!!! Es una lástima que se le dañara tanto por el abuso de tintes!!! 12:09 🤤
Liberty wasn't marketed properly. The album flopped which wasn't fair on the band.
Looks like they got regret about this song. It's been 3 decades since the last time they played "Violence of Summer" live

Warren is a massive big head....Bring back our Andy bear.

I love Violence of Summer but the video is trash. Still love them though.
