Other common issues when I had my mk6 Gti pcv, water pump, diverter valve, timing chain. Other than that great car as long as u keep up on the maintenance.
Yep it’s the, great motor and still able to whip up on a lot of current vehicles on the road. I just did the timing and it’s not cheap, but only needs done about every 100,000
Man you’re doing it right as a car enthusiast you do want to experience different vehicles, you’re building them up and when it’s time sending them out the door. There are other automotive UA-camrs that buy cars and don’t finish them or leave them in the back ground, so at least you’re getting your kicks and not letting them just sit around. I want to see more manual transmission cars though!
Nice! I bought a ‘10 GTI brand new. Had it 6 yrs / 60K with almost zero issues (only a faulty intake manifold covered under warranty). So much fun to drive. After that I had a ‘16, ‘18 and last July I bought a brand new ‘23 GTI 40th anniversary edition. Absolutely loving it so far. GTI’s are great cars just have to make sure you stay on top of regular maintenance and you’ll be fine 😁
Bring it out to Cars and coffee at Princeton VW this sunday! And invest in an OBDeleven if you dont have one already. Local marketplace is filled with people parting out mk6s all day long.

I was shocked that a Ford Focus ST was in the run up. I don’t know I never had a good experience with mine. And right at 143K I started having issue’s with mine. And it was just being a sour lemon on me (it was yellow). However I will say that though over the years I actually never paid any attention to VW’s. This one may have just changed my mind just a tad bit, not even gonna lie. I mean I could feel your excitement and the thrill through the video, which made me start shouting and chanting also lol. This is a dream car for one of my buddies, and right now he’s driving a beat up Honda Accord. It’s an automatic, but it’s been like a true stone for him in solidness. But when I seen the VW’s I held on to some hope and decided not to be a debbie downer on it. And again it impressed me. Of course video may not do it true justice on the fun it looks to drive it. But I’ll honestly say for the small little things you mentioned with it. I’d say you came out with a good buy. Seems like it only needs some minor things and fixes that you and the guy’s are well capable of. Seth man you’re truly a cool and rad dude, and have taught me so much about cars. Love the content and the videos genuinely. I always get existed and stoked when I see a new vid up.
I've had 3 GTI's, a mk5, a mk6, and a mk8 40th. Cliffnotes of each: Mk5: K04 car, majorly fun but had a lot of small and major issues like The radio didn't work, cloth peeled off the doors, had a rusting A pillar, and for majors it smoked really bad and I'm pretty sure it had a hole in the the piston after I revved it up one day. But it was fast AF and an awesome way to enter into the VW space MK6: Cleanest used car I've ever bought. Florida it's entire life, but not near the beach so no rust at all. Stock, 10 year old car (at the time) with 20k original miles. I only went up to stage 2 but I wish I never sold it. MK8 40th: My third brand new car, beautiful tornado red thing that I bought from the show room floor. Lots of amazing memories and I took my kids around with it a lot. 2 weeks after I bought the car however I found out we were going to have a third and was already 20 weeks along so I had to unfortunately trade it for a Mini van. But it was amazing while it lasted
