Hozier accidentally hitting a guitar and then sincerely apologizing to that seemingly inanimate object makes me wonder if this is just a quirk or does this man know something we don’t
The way he talks about his instruments is beautiful. It's almost as if he's not using them to make music but he's just giving them a means to channel the songs the instruments themselves want to play.
Got lucky and saw him in 2015 with my girlfriend at the time. Most memorable concert experience I’ve ever had. Crazy talented songwriter, and underrated guitar player to say the least. His band was super tight, too. Opened with Angel of Small Death and played a great solo on it. Played the whole show with his hair up in a bun. Came back on stage for an encore of Cherry Wine, acoustic in hand, hair down to his shoulders. Absolutely floored me. Glad he’s stuck around. Was really worried he’d hit a sophomore slump, with his first album being so ridiculously good. But the new album is the same sort of stuff he’s been writing for years, in a good way. Also, always cool for an artist to come out and do the rundown instead of having the tech do the whole thing. Thanks for always giving us this quality content, Premier Guitar. This stuff gets me through the weeks. P.S. Chris was the perfect interviewer to send for Hozier. Laid back and quiet, but still knows the questions to ask and how to get the artist talking.
Hi Nicholas🤹♀️. I don't normally review too many posts on UA-cam, however, I stumbled across your comments submitted on the video of Hozier and Chris chatting about the various types of guitars (pertaining quality, preference of equipment, and their relation to the artistic craft of music). Hozier has an effective way of reeling in his audiences; whether in an interview, podcast, talk show circuit, concert, whatever. Most of his fans are beginning to surmise that he embodies multiple qualities, talents, and gifts. He is not cocky or arrogant. He doesn't wreak of entiltlement; nor does he flex his escalating popularity. I look forward to his eventual Grammy Achievement . Your post was very articulate and well structured. Being an English major, and Linguist Specialist, it's refreshing to observe proper context of writing in a post, tweet, or commentary (of any kind). I was compelled to share this note with you; while commending you for taking the time, in our fast-paced world, to genuinely share a Written thought from the heart, that wasn't ladened with relentless acronyms, self-made abbreviations, or exaggerated emojis. Thanks for keeping with grammatical sense and learned syntax. I wish you extended favor and blessings in life. Enjoy your day. Take care.
God... that hit me hard xD I loved (I still do of course) them, I began learning how to play guitar with 17 and Auerbach had a tone I adored. Keep it Hid it is also a masterpiece to me. I am really glad they are still releasing stuff, I love Dan and Patrick.
I mean, The Black Keys put their first album out during the early 2000s and the album he mentioned (Rubber Factory) came out in 2004 so he was probably a teenager when they really got big so that makes sense for him to say it
I know what he means tho. He's extremely skilled for guitar playing and has the creativity to get almost any sound he wants from guitar for his songs. His playing is accurate, clean, sparkly and moving. Considering he's self-taught, it's remarkable. But people who have devoted themselves to guitar to a certain extent normally know how vast and complex guitar can be across so many genres (rock, blues, jazz, funk, classical, flamenco, etc.). To be highly proficient with both hands, not just re physical skills but when it comes to harmony, even in one style such as jazz, that can take a whole lifetime. One can't help but be humble in the face of some guitar legends who were still learning when they were old. But yeah, to the mere mortals, he's indeed a great guitar player :)
How come I didn't find this sooner?! I saw Hozier live two months ago, and I'm pretty sure it changed my life. I've since decided to build a guitar and then learn to play it. It's really cool to see what Andrew uses and likes. I'm super stoked to learn to play, and not gonna lie, 90% of the music I want to learn are Hozier songs.
One of the best artists of our age - so underrated as a guitarist! He such a colorful dude! His poetry is 4 dimensional and his guitar playing is a tip of the hat to folk/ blues/ and jazz... Such an interesting guy! Would love to share a shot and some stories with him! Can't believe that he was a huge fan of Dan Auerbach too! I leaped to joy when he gave a shout out to him! I will have to try to get my hands on a H78 Harmony too!
The interviewer did an excellent job. Good questions, seems to really know about the artist. I also love Hozier, it's nice seeing him having exposure outside of Take me To Church. Great vid Premier 🤙
I can provide some clear info on the Danelectro res-o-dan guitar... It started off as Danelectro U2 mode which was re-issued in 1997-98 & actually sold in UK music shops for a measly £100... Bargain!! The Black "Reso-Dan Danelectro guitar was a conversion by Holiday Music's Julian Mullen. Holiday Music advertised the conversion mods in Guitarist Magazine in 1998 and even featured on the front cover of the magazine with an accompanying CD which i still have to this day demoing the guitar on the cover. I wanted one in my later 20s but couldn't find one or afford the price tag for a conversion guitar so i set about the conversion myself taking notes from the Guitarist magazine article & investigating how resonators worked & how the cones fitted in the guitar. Soon after that i started buying more U2 models & converted a few more. Hoziers is an earlier conversion by Junian Mullen. So if Hozier is reading this i hope this info answers your question on that very guitar. Nice to see a Res-o-Dan again!!
So glad for this, not only because Andrew is one of my favorite guitarists of late but because I knew without a doubt he wouldn't say, "... and from here it goes into my AxeFX."
Just imagine : a 85 yr old hozier with flowing white beard and long white hairs... Sitting on the living room couch..... Surrounded by a bunch of grandkids .....Hozier is showing them pictures and pointing at one of his guitars from his guitar collection... "I think that's the bad boy...i would need to sing u guys one of my wasteland babies "..........
Kinda wild that black keys is what got me turned on to blues and truly onto semi hollows and hollow bodies like him. I already liked semi hollows but I didn’t really like them for sound and then I heard the black keys

Many guitarists talk to their guitars. They keep us company, they have a life of their own, fair enough we apologize to them if we hurt them 😂
He’s Irish, we just apologise to everything and everyone for anything 😂
The way he talks about his instruments is beautiful. It's almost as if he's not using them to make music but he's just giving them a means to channel the songs the instruments themselves want to play.
15:46 hozier apologises to a guitar
He even pats it's.... what would anthropomorphically be it's head. He's just precious. Love him and Murt talking shop.
Arent we all ? Wait ... no ?! Oh ok.

“As a teenager I was a huge Black Keys fan.”
That just made me feel super old. 😭
That makes me so happy he likes them they have to be one of if not my fav band

hozier bumping the guitar and then asking it for forgiveness at 15:46
me: ok, I tried not to fall in love with this man, but I failed
Gotta respect a man who respects his instruments!
See that didn’t faze me at all because I talk to my guitars all the time. It’s a musician thing, we all do it.
Hozier: Ehmm I’m not a great guitar player
Me: iM nOT A grEaT GuiTAr pLAyeR
exactly. i was looking for this comment. Same vibe when he says he isn't a sex symbol. Sweet Andy still believes in Santa xD
I went down to the comment section to comment this exact thing

He’s almost in virtuosic territory with his guitar playing, he’s not a great piano player If anything

Hearing Hozier talk about how much he liked The Black Keys and Rubber Factory made my day!
That album is killer, yeah. Definitely has some of Dan’s best riffs and songwriting
15:46 I’m sobbing he apologized to the guitar
Hozier is a beaut.
HAD to click on this one. Still love the thumpy, guitar sound of his cut "Jackie and Wilson". Glad to have a full Rig Rundown on Hozier!
Good job to the interviewer here.. usually you guys are a little all over the place with the interviews but Chris did a good job here !
self care is listening to him talk about guitars when you yourself know nothing about them
This is my comfort video, would love an updated one for his new tour
This guy made one of the best songs of the decade
Which one?
He made several of them.
We love you Murt!!!!
Honestly I stopped listening to what they were saying and didn’t really understand the whole interview but i didn’t cause he’s so beautiful man
I listened to every word, but yeah, I get distracted by his sheer beauty.
So glad for this, not only because Andrew is one of my favorite guitarists of late but because I knew without a doubt he wouldn't say, "... and from here it goes into my AxeFX."
Love Hozier! Such a super nice guy!
Great to see Murt on here!...👍 🎸🔥
hozier is something else i swear
Thank you for this very interesting interview! I waited for these explanations for many years. Hozier is the best 👍🖤
Hozier is a Harmony player? That’s awesome. Once again, this goes to show that all of the cool guys have a Harmony.
Man is not even getting paid and the only time he looked at the camera is when he mentioned bohemian guitars planting trees for every guitar sold. Gem
18:32 IM SORRY WHATT
Holy shit I just found this I’ve been wanting this video for years!
Yea, totally
Please do one with Daughters!
maddogg614 BACKED. Probably wishful thinking though, their guitarist Nick has been pretty secretive about his gear in the past. :(
even a skinhead man listens to hozier ❤️
That Gretsch baritone was on “Jackie and Wilson”?
Never would’ve thought.
Have a shot of taquila every time you hear the word "yeah".
Or a dram of whiskey for each “hem” 🤪
Make that “ehm”
Or " totally"
Just imagine : a 85 yr old hozier with flowing white beard and long white hairs... Sitting on the living room couch..... Whoever lit this video: You are aware that you can dim those things, right? No need for the ghost look.
Hey, an ad I can skip immediately!
those recycled guitars though. They should pay the forest man for being their spokesman xD
Trust the axes to Murt, and they won't get so hurt.
Is he Buckethead?
Never noticed this but it sounds like he has a bit of a stutter
THANK YOUUU 😍😍
The interviewer must be tall cause hozier is VERY TALL
WHERE DO I GET THOSE STRAPS!?!?! HELP
Kinda wild that black keys is what got me turned on to blues and truly onto semi hollows and hollow bodies like him. I already liked semi hollows but I didn’t really like them for sound and then I heard the black keys
Hozeeer!
Um, is it just me, or anyone remember the song at the beginning not cutting out before going into the interview?
Nope it's happening again
Probably got copyright claimed and they had to edit it out
Trev Barnes With the artist they’re INTERVIEWING?!!
JG 93 that’s the unfortunate side of UA-cam
#OwnTheTone
Can you do Weezer please?
Get Tame Impala on here!
Totally
i'm pretty sure I've seen a rig rundown at the grand ol opery house... or maybe I'm losing my marbles.
theaceofspadesjl probably thinking the Ryman auditorium
@@liamgallagherrr I thought they were the same place? The Bonamassa rundown was at the Ryman.
Would absolutely kill you ask the crew to plug a small amp in so we can hear a snap of each of these??? The descriptions just don't cut it
take a drink every time he says "totally"
totally
Take a shot every time Andrew says totally
I also apologise to my guitars an instruments 😳
Take a shot everytime hozier said TOTALLY
So many guitars ... and never play them really ?!?
He plays them all. What do you mean?
I meant: he doesm‘t really play them in this video. For me that‘s missing. The interview itself is cool and interesting.
@@fredericinterpaul1801 I see... I guess it's because they're pressed for time since this is before their show.
Totally,,,
Yeahhh......Yeahhhhh totally!
...but every time he says “yeahhh” is goes 5% faster.
I saw him live a month ago and thought he was running like an Axe Fx or Helix as I didn't see any amps on stage. Boy was I wrong...
Andrew talking about his nails. The world has come to an end, Wasteland, Baby.
Nails are very important to guitar players. Especially as he does not really use a pick and he does fingerstyle.
Take off eh , ya hozier!
For the guy that sang “Take Me To Church”, he has some damn good-looking guitars
what do u mean
hugh sl I mean that I didn’t actually know that he played guitar
He's a solid fingerstyle player as well
YEaH YeAH YEAh yEAH
what happened to his red epiphone thinline? i guess hes got the bucks for gibsons now! em em em is that um in Irish?
Not to be racist but the Irish man says “my uncle Liam” I’m dead 😂
"When I listened to Black Keys as a teenager" Me:smh
Didn't know he had a stutter
"yeah totally" × 7293739282929
Super cool guy, needs more words than ‘diverse’ and ‘totally’
