    Understanding Chiropractic Care:
    Knowing that "Joints don't get out of place" can empower those in pain to grasp the role chiropractic care might have in their healing process. In this video, Dr. Pedersen explains how adjusting a joint affects surrounding muscles, alleviating muscle spasms and joint pain.
    The Philosophy of Natural Healing:
    Dr. Pedersen firmly believes that the more you comprehend how your body functions, and the role conservative chiropractic care has in restoring health, the higher your chances are of finding relief from pain.
    Dispelling Myths Around Chiropractic Care:
    While mystery and doubt surround spinal manipulation and chiropractic neck adjustments, the reality is clear-cut. The efficacy of chiropractic care for many musculoskeletal conditions ranks highly among healthcare options, especially when considering its safety compared to traditional medical care. And don't just take a chiropractor's word for it-compare the malpractice insurance rates of DCs (Doctors of Chiropractic) to MDs (Medical Doctors), and check PubMed for literature confirming chiropractic's efficacy and cost-effectiveness.
    Benefits of Chiropractic Adjustments and Treatments:
    Explore how chiropractic back adjustments can assist with various issues like lumbar disc problems, pinched nerves, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, and SI joint pain. Learn how chiropractic neck adjustments can provide relief for neck pain, cervical disc problems, arm and hand numbness, and cervicogenic tension-type headaches.
    Various Chiropractic Adjustive Techniques:
    Chiropractors employ many different techniques to adjust a joint, all aimed at restoring normal motion. This allows adjacent muscles to relax, inflammation to reduce, and pain-free motion to return. Examples of different commonly used chiropractic techniques include Diversified, Gonstead Technique, Activator Methods, Thompson Drop Technique, Sacro-occipital Technique, Applied Kinesiology, and the Palmer Package.

    I live in the Cincinnati tri-state area and have been to so many doctors and had so many xray's and none had ever recommended an si joint belt. I appreciate you sharing this knowledge! Wearing an si joint belt has dramatically decreased my pain. I've told my husband, daughter and sister to watch your videos. You have a knack for explaining the physiology of the body to people with little background in your field! I can't thank you enough.

    What is the motion or adjustment or move preformed to release or adjust the area to the right of the upper spine by like where the top rib is connecting to the facet joint? I can get everything above that area and below that area on my right side of spine and neck to pop, except for this one specific area that has a never-ending deep, deep, dull ache. If i hug myself and twist or rock or roll while exhaling, i'll have various other vertebrae or facet joints(ribs) that will pop. But not the one area that aggravates me the most. I've tried foam rollers, various sizes and stiffness of different types of balls and put them under that spot while laying down with my butt raised and not raised, and hugging myself or extending arms up over head, all while knees bent and feet flat on floor. And i can't get that spot to pop. It's obviously a nerve or deep muscle bound up in that area , b/c when i've tried the balls they will hit on a spot that does give a deep, deep blunt bruising pain, until i roll off that area. And regular docs and specialists have taken xrays and scans and they all say "Don't see anything broken. Don't know why you'd have any pain. Sounds muscle related. have you tired a muscle relaxer?" And i'm always like "Yes. I've tried muscle relaxers. And i say it's not pain, pain, like sharp and radiating. It's a deep, deep dull ache and it feels like something is bound up and needs to release in this one spot.
    Any ideas?

    So, they only get stuck by the muscle's being tight, or is there a tiny degree of shifting in the vertebrae that causes it to be stuck as well?

My philosophy comes some from my schooling, but also it is hard to not get excited and grounded in a mindset when you see the amazing healing potential of the human body, when the core imbalances are solved. Take care!

    I have a question if you wouldn’t mind helping me grasp a better understanding. In 2014 I awoke with severe right scapular pain. By the end of the day, the pain that was radiating down my arm was so mind dumbing severe that my only relief was to keep my arm above my head. An MRI lead to discectomy and fusion of C5-C-7 with no relief of pain. Just recently an osteopath found the source of the pain to be a issue with a rib under my right shoulder blade. He has manipulated it several times but it keeps reoccurring with right arm activity and on a few occasions, other ribs become a source of pain. My thought was that it keeps moving out of place but that doesn’t fit with what you are explaining. So it keeps getting fixated? Why does an adjustment to that rib cause pain in others? It has affected ribs below it and a rib under my left shoulder blade. I just don’t understand what is going on. This is so frustrating!!

    • @PositiveMotionChiro
      @PositiveMotionChiro  9 місяців тому +2

      That sounds really frustrating. When I am dealing with chronic rib issue with a patient I really focus on making sure the muscles that stabilize those ribs are fully functioning from an applied kinesiology/functional perspective. I use muscle testing to determine that and some of the main muscles that I look at are the serratus anterior, the pectoralis, minor and major and even serratus posterior. If those muscles are not firing properly they are not going to support stability in the costovertebral joints.
      Usually when I am seeing a rib problem, it is a fixation of that ribs normal motion against the vertebrae. There are two joints that attach each rib to the vertebral body and then also to the transverse process of the spine then the rib also has a connection through the cartilage on the front of the body to the sternum . When a rib gets locked up, it is no longer moving as it should during respiration, and it can become quite inflamed and the joint capsule swollen. Sometimes I am also looking at the intercostal muscles as a continuation of the internal and external abdominal obliques, and seeing if there isn’t issues with rib excursion or stability with those muscles, especially if someone’s had trauma to the chest wall or ribs.
      I hope that gives you some more insight and I pray that you get back to feeling 100%.

    Is there any risk for people with low bone density that the quick adjustment could cause spinal fractures?

    • @PositiveMotionChiro
      @PositiveMotionChiro  2 місяці тому

      That is a great question! It all depends on the level of bone density loss and the aggresiveness of the adjustment. I have many patients with osteoporosis but I modify what adjusting techniques I use with them. There are low force chiropractic techniques like Activator Methods which don't have a fracture risk. My oldest patient is 101. People of all ages can benefit from chiropractic care, but it is important to work with a good chiropractor and let them know about your bone density results and have an honest conversation about your concerns. Take care!

    Only with ethical chiropractors, not with most chiropractors (in the US) that they see you as a ATM machine, and they will have you coming back every week for adjustment, but they don't do corrective chiropractic.
    In my experience/opinion, chiropractic should be complemented with the Feldenkrais method. It makes all the difference in the world.✌️

    • @PositiveMotionChiro
      @PositiveMotionChiro  9 місяців тому +3

      I agree that many chiropractors want to have their patients keep coming back over and over again when they could be helping them understand how to address the underlying muscle imbalances, postural issues, and ergonomically challenges of modern life. When targeted chiropractic care and methods like you described, Feldenkrais, are utilized the results are IMO rapid and lasting in most cases.

      @@PositiveMotionChiro After 10 years in bed (up for about only one hour) after a car accident, and after orthopedic doctors, neurologist, physical therapy, and 30 chiropractors, I started to do Feldenkrais method, it took me two years to assimilate the concept, but once I did, changes started to happen.
      We focus on what moves the body by just looking at the muscles, but we don't pay attention to what moves the muscles, the nervous system. Once I understood that things improve. Now I go to the gym and have a better quality of life, I still have ways to go, but I feel I am in the right direction ✌️

      @@luyzqint3760 I'm so glad that you found improvement after your car accident and that you have your life back. Understanding the principles of how the bones and muscles of the body are meant to work is so key. My frustration with adjustment "not lasting" and wanting to get more permanent results for patients lead me to Paris to study with a posture/movement expert. That made such a profound impact on me and the patients that I treat. Here is a video that distills the concepts I learned related to sitting posture: ua-cam.com/video/VBb3LPu5QI0/v-deo.html I think you might find it really resonates with what you have learned in Feldenkrais.🙌
