- I Built A Guitar with a Twist #fullbuild
This is inspired by a Guitar that I saw more than 10 years ago, but this one is more #twisted than that. I can't find that #guitar , it's probably buried in deep web. but it's really beautiful and I wanted to build one but with extra twist .
Materials:
Body-Acacia
Neck-Acle
Fretboard-Kamagong
Pickups-ARTEC
Bridge-WDBEST
Strings-Elixir
Music
I Drank Alone - Track Tribe

The boys over there at Strandberg must be thinking, "Damn"....😅
Two words. Rick toone
It’s a cool build, but there’s a difference between building A guitar and manufacturing guitarS.
Love the build, but I have to leave a tip about your videomaking. You have to show wider angles of the guitar where we see it from multiple angles in the same shot! As nice as the close-ups from multiple angles are, they give very little sense of the full shape and style of the finished product. You know how some websites have rotatable 3D models of their products? Imagine you're trying to provide that for us. It's particularly important for a build like this where the protrusions in all three dimensional axes matter! There are tons of creative ways you can do this if you don't just want to hold it in your hands and move it around for us. Experiment!
finally someone made a guitar that fits comfortably on my belly!
is this a skinny joke?
Wow, this is absolutely stunning and beautiful! You are a master at this!
This makes since!
😂 when you said with a TWIST, you really mean that literally 😂🤣 great build!👍👍
It's a goddamn beautiful killer work of art... Kudos 🤟
Thank you!
I am 1:41sec into the video & would like to say I Already LOVE it!!! the FACT that it is NOT an LP/ST/T type is amazing! please continue
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I might build some Parker Fly or PRS style in the future.
BASSGUITAR PLEASE@@GitaraMaker
I love the shape. And brilliant to repurpose the old neck.
I never really thought that it's going to be ergonomic, it hugs my body perfectly while playing. Cheers!
@@GitaraMakeras soon as I saw you working on the twisted shape I thought “ oh this would hug nicely for playing”
@@GitaraMakerI love the wrap-around idea, which automatically gives a forearm chamfer, and angles the controls towards the player. If you’re making another I’d be tempted to route out the centre section for neck, pickup, and tuner cavities before glueing the three blocks together.
Thank you for showing us your art.
That is both stunning and awesome!
Thanks!
That's just an amazing build.
You are very very talented.
Absolutely beautiful! Truly one of a kind!
Great job !!!! Congrat.
Thank you!
Here early, I LOVE this build. Always satisfying to watch you create some stellar guitars
Thank you!
How badass!!!!!! Thats awesome
I'd rock the hell out of that.....
Beautiful work :)
Thanks!
He built a guitar with a twist. Literally 😄🔥
デザインも加工技術も素晴らしいです。
Excellent 👍! 🎉
What's up from Russia!
Thank you!
Hey, great project, and I really enjoyed the video. Some wide angle shots would have been cool. I hope the following saves you a lot of time on your future projects:
I understand why you couldn't use a router with a template to follow (no flat surfaces), but there's a way to get around that. Use the neck bolt holes to attach the odd shape to a fixture which can change angle across the two axis of the horizontal plane. This will allow you to hold the guitar at any angle you want, while presenting the correct plane to the cutting tool (endmill, router bit, etc). Likewise, you can create a fixture positioned over the odd shaped material, and that fixture can include a flat surface onto which you could place templates for the router to follow. Also, please teach yourself to solder properly from instructional videos. Projects like this one deserve solid electronics.
Good luck!
Wow.....yep,just wow.👍
This is a great design, looks very comfortable to play and ergonomic! Great work and very nice video, thank you for sharing it with us!
Thank you!
Cool idea, a lot of great hand craftsmanship.
Mamma mia!! Fantastico!! È bellissimo guardare come lavori il legno e costruire delle opere d'arte di chitarre!! Tantissimi complimenti!!
Ang ganda!
Fantastic job 👍
Lovely 😍
Truly a brilliant idea. Plus, i'm a headless fan !
Very cool bent hunka chunka! I like it.
Perfekt 👍
Would love to own one
Gotta play twisted transistor by korn on this guitar
Sounds like Ghost! Beautiful build
Tosin Abasi must appreciate it
ganda talaga
Thank you po!
Wow ang lupet nyo poh 🫵🏻🙇♂️
Sana masubukan ko din patugtugin mga gitara na gawa mo ,
Godbless poh sa inyo
¡Qué gran construcción!
Nice build … seems like modern tools would’ve made all of the carving much simpler though … 😎
Beautiful guitar 🎸
Thanks!
Beautiful! ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Wow, so cool!
Glad you find it cool! Thanks!
Nice hand routes!
i love the idea, very well done, congrats
Thanks!
Should have played twist by Korn on it
WOW! I watched all the way thru.
Thank you!
That looks amazing. Definitely different. 👍
Thank you!
Great build, very different idea 😀
Thanks!
❤❤❤❤
Killer shape, killer guitar ... I use the same drum loop App for my musical endeavors too.
Thank you! Same here, I've used it for a very long time. Have a great day ahead.
This seems like a nightmare to build haha with no flat surface. Looks great!
It is! I'm always placing a piece of wood underneath to keep it straight. Thanks for watching!
LMao what a weird idea ! it turned out so great. Goodjob once again
(i doubt you remember me but i'm the guy doing a tree of life inlay who asked you a bunch of question on tim henson acoustic video. I finally started, i'm at the step of carving doing the inlay, waiting for my mini chisels ! )
Of course I remember you! I hope you could share your project here on UA-cam or on Instagram. Glad to see you here again. I'll try to answer if you have more future queries as long as I can.
@@GitaraMaker i'm posting my stuff on reddit u/Loeegar
i created an instagram account this, week, idk yet if i'll leave it blank or post on it hehe.
BTw how confy is this twisted guitar? are you feeling a major difference?
@@anima60 I don't mean to brag, but I think this form is how guitar should be made. The twists fit snug to my body, arm rest cut is just perfect. The only problem is the strap button placement, It hits my chest when leaning forward. I should have placed it on the tip of the horn.
Wouldn’t you want the twist, twisting back towards your body so it’s easier to see what you’re doing on the higher frets?
Interesting and unusual, for sure. Watching the freehand rotary tool technique used to rout out the pickup cavities, I can definitely see how he might have come to have a neck donor guitar sitting around. I get that some pretty fancy jig making and maybe a long shafted router bit might have been required to use a more conventional router technique on this particular body, though. Definitely a cool looking finished product, and looks to be pretty playable. Curious to know, though, if that one pointy bout angled back at the player causes discomfort in certain portions of the anatomy in some playing positions?
Nice build.
Thank you!
Nice! Greetings from Japan!
Thank you!
impressiv
Beautiful build. Thank you for thinking beyond the ordinary.
Question: Could you have routed the pickup, neck and bridge cavities in the middle piece prior to adding the curved sides?
Yes I could have made the cavities first, but at that time I didn't have the measurements for the pick-ups and bridge, It took a while to get delivered. Thanks and have a great day!
Hello bro, I like your work, but what do you think about those lava me 3 entiligente type guitars that are like a plastic material made from a single piece? Do you think that the luthuiers who make guitars will lose their jobs in the long run or they will find it? do you think? good video
Great job but you should do a video on how to sharpening your tools.
Next, build a guitar out of groot
Hey! Thanks ❤️ I'm gonna make this possible.
Very nice but are you capable of making the exact same guitar again if you can i want one 👍
You're using standard Floyd locking nut🤔 does that suffice for this headless?🤔
Will the body be stable with the piths still being in the wood?
Do the strings stay in place even though you haven't installed a nut? I know some people complain about the strings moving back and forth over the zero fret on guitars and basses without a nut to hold them in place.
Great guitar visually. sounds like mud though.
Интересный инструмент.
Hi, great work. Btw, whats drum app?
Thanks! The app is called "Loopz" it's available at Google Play Store.
I recall seeing a Ben Crowe/ Crimson build - the Silky Oak? - that was bent/curved, but only in the one plane.
And it was traditional bridge/tuners.
I loved watching the process of getting the twist right on this.
How is the comfort of this guitar?
I never really expected that the guitar would fit comfortably, the original plan was just making it twisted but I accidentally made it snug fit in my body. Now I'm thinking, maybe electric guitar should be designed this way. Thanks and have a great day.
How many hours did this build take? I’m guessing over 200?
Why did you go with a headless is there a reason???
Do you sell those? 😅
Why everyone makes strandbeg clone😂
Thank you for the educational video! However, the quality of the guitar (sound characteristics and sustain) would be better if:
1) there were no knots in the body (soundboard) of the guitar;
2) the neck would be made of radial cut wood (but without knots!) and the pocket for the anchor would be smaller in size;
3) very deep pockets were made for pickups - this shortens the sustain of the guitar;
4) the ends of the frets (neck) had to be made in the form of semi-drops (and on this guitar the ends of the frets have sharp edges and can injure the guitarist’s fingers!);
5) you cannot adjust (reduce) the gap between the pickup and the strings (in this guitar the gap is very large!) - but many guitarists require a gap of 1 - 3 mm (pickups sound better), which is problematic to fulfill this requirement on this guitar;
6) it is very important to check the sound quality of an electric guitar on a “wedge” (without overload!) - during the audio test, you had overload turned on, and we could not evaluate the sound quality of the guitar!

So weird...
Weird and horrible shape, why so much work to obtain this Monster ?
I was disappointed. I don't like the way it sounds. It sounds like he installed $20 Amazon pickups.
