Grimes' songs are the equivalent of sleeping during the day while sporting a mild fever, and waking up later to see that it's dark outside. You sit there half asleep on the edge of your couch, unsure of your surroundings, wondering how many days have passed, when in fact it's been like 2 hours of drooling on a pillow and running through the dark-tranquil forests of your mind. I love Grimes.

I think she's having a hard time putting her thoughts into words but if I step back and look at what she said; I pretty much agree. I think she will do great and beautiful things and I plan to listen to everything she ever sings from here on out

This is very wise of you, because I see a lot of people that just judge her based off of her inability to articulate her thoughts. It’s sad because she has a lot of good ones, but most likely because of her autism and ADHD she isn’t good at articulating them.

I don't understand Grimes. Which is probably why I like her so much. She's not as transparent as so many of these artists you see on the front page of youtube. There are so many dismissible acts floating around but Grimes always keeps me questioning her intent and her motive and more importantly: what she's going to do next. She's a very interesting person and I think she's going to have a very successful and widespread career in a multitude of different mediums; even outside of music.
+Bear Boy Perfectly hit upon why I also think she's special. There's something truly interesting about her. She's very smart, very creative, and very unique. I love people like that...
+avedic I agree; Many likable elements to her character! I also admire her work ethic, she does virtually everything by herself and really embraces that DIY attitude. It is fantastic. I hope she has a long and fun career.

She's so frigging talented. Can't wait to see and hear all that she has to offer.
I think she's a genius composer. It takes copious amounts of intelligence and 3 dimensional thinking to arrange music, especially with all the layered and numerous files she creates and employs. She's also very ambitious and driven and is probably very intense. All I can say is that I have tremendous respect for her as an artist who has her own style and sound that draws from many diverse musical genres.
If you've been alive until now, oh boy, she has offered 💖worlds and entire dimensions 💖🥰

Yeah that is the hardest thing about trying to be an artist. Feeling that everything has been done. I think famous artists from this time period on will be made famous entirely via politics.

“Political” artists are fucking boring. Either be a politician or an activist, or be an artist. It’s not a hard set “rule” and I enjoy many artists that have their political opinions clear in their work, but these days they make a big thing about it like, look at me I’m supposedly politically conscious. But their political stances are so unoriginal and basic and stereotypical. It makes their art worse

If you look thorough the history of arts the importance of a political stand along with self expression is clear, and not even during the last decades but centuries ago. Being political is not a bad thing, the core of the word means people have a word in what happens in their city or group, yet people usually say that when they don't like the politics they are seeing. Anyways, what I was trying to say is that art is not just a nice thing to look at due to its superficial characteristics (which is now kind of boring too), its a method of expression and discussion, hence the existence of concept art in all mediums (visuals, plastics and music)

Majority of the public has no artistic opinions, but everyone has political opinions.

It's so true john.. ..she has been my influence since our days back in montreal. She sings like a angel, even looks like one, kinda makes you wonder huh... maybe it's just a dream, but perhaps oneday, we'll be onstage at the same time for once. Until then, rock on grime.

I love Grimes. I just don't think expressing herself verbally outside of music is one of her strengths. She seems to think less in words than in images and emotions.
I don't see why people think art has to have a purpose or be explained. It just is; the person that created it made it, and even if they don't remember why, something influenced it. It's impossible to make something without having a reason. This was the most confusing statement I think I have ever made.

I like the void you create. You can drift in it. Meaning, purpose, something you want, an experience something you get. It's pretty dire out there.
It is refreshing to hear someone talk about art as having value in itself, and not its role in social causes or political causes or gender or identity. In at least one way, art is like religion. People are going to speculate about what is out there. You can't stop them.
She’s so talented 👏🏻 I love how she always executes her own vision with her music and art and doesn’t apologize or listen to the typical norms. That makes her special and is why we come back to see more because she makes things that are interesting.
