I think Grimes is the only artist that could be called directionless as a compliment. I mean, she goes in twenty different directions at once with her music, always changing and shifting styles, and she does it so beautifully!
The fact that she made my favorite album on GarageBand makes me keeps me motivated and feeling less shit about my lack of production materials. She’s such a great artist, I love her sm 🥰

Artangels is a masterpiece. But it's so edgy and cool to be the one who says "I hate it, it's so mainstream bla bla bla", I hate that kind of people, let her grow, let her make her own trajectory, that's it

Right? If only those nay-sayers realized that it’s much more badass to be able to not only create a pop album after Visions or Halfaxa but to make it a badass pop album. If there’s anything Grimes does so amazingly, it’s entirely ignore conventional standards or assumptions about what good music should look like. And it’s pretty conventional among those who listen to things like Grimes’ early pieces to think that pop is shitty or can’t be beautiful. Grimes says fuck off to that assumption as well. I love her for it. She’s a musical genius who is so bold, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

its interesting how she disables comments on her vidoes. she's the ultimate package, has total artistic control, she should be more proud then the rest of them. she produces her own music and im sure those who are just a cog in the machine and produce for the likes of beyonce, taylor and selena dont even think about hateful comments about their material.

I prefer Visions but that doesn't mean that I don't like Art Angels. It had some tracks that I really got into, and I enjoy both versions of Realiti. That said, I still want to hear the album that "sounded too much like Visions".
In my opinion, Visions was the quintessential blend of Halfaxa and her newer music.
She does what works for her and as long as she is happy and fulfilled with her music career then that is all that matters. I'd still go see her live if I could, but I have to admit that I would like to have a more consistent progression of Visions. She was really starting to get the hang of making everything more cohesive and adding an energy to it while maintaining the perfect level of atmospheric framework, especially her vocals. She probably could have managed one or two more albums of that style and reaching her full potential with that before Art Angels I think. Visions is what she does best and makes her so unique and distinctive musically. She took Cocteau Twins "Heaven or Las Vegas" and made her own sound with it, and it was amazing. It still is.

I liked her music better when she was less polished. It's great that she wants to do her own thing but art angels just isn't my thing besides one or two of the songs.
The REALiTi demo is reminiscent of that same style she had in Visions, which is why I enjoy it so much.
i feel the same about it, her pre aa stuff was wonderful and i do like some songs off aa but others i just can't ever get into. i love grimes tho, and am definitely really curious about her new stuff..

dude as much as reviews are an okay argument, they're by no means something than can end a discussion. there are many albums that get great Metacritic scores and yet quite a lot of people would say they're somewhat overrated, and albums that a lot of people would say are underrated. I also think Visions is a better album with less filler but have no problem with guys thinking Art Angels is.
Visions is the Masterpiece. Art Angels nowhere in the same league.
Obvious hyperbole! But why? Most people who dislike Art Angels seem to find it too "poppy", too accessible. Even though this was an obvious choice on Grimes' part.
There will always be people who like an artist's work best, when they were still relatively obscure.
For me, Art Angels is her best, most consistent album yet, with Visions only just behind. Oblivion is probably the song for which she will be remembered.
