- EP32 - Have a look at our 80 year old, 100 foot sailing boat. We're now approximately halfway through the rebuild, so it's time for a tour. And we're working on the final jobs to prepare for drydock.
Schoener Tijgerhaai (Tigershark) started life in 1944 as a canadian built tugboat and she has been in my family for almost 50 years. Together with my dad, I am rebuilding this beautiful sailing ship, to get her ready for new adventures!

Ep 32 - Look At Our Boat! Halfway Through The Rebuild
Great progress. Your enthusiasm was bubbling over during that tour. You and Dad should be very proud indeed. Cheers.
Thanks! It does make a big difference to have someone behind the camera to talk to :) Cheers!
Great progress. Good luck with inspection and certification. After that it would be great 21:09 to know your general plan to finish the ship. I love the to-the-point pace of your videos. Good luck.
Thanks! We'll have a look at what's left and in which order after the whole dry dock thing is behind us :)
You. Have such a Great Vessel and your projects are always addressed very well! I keep thinking a praying that your channel will grow by much more people! Good content and Awesome owners of a Seaworthy Small Ship!
Thank you so much!
@@tigersharkboatworks Thank You and Your Dad
What a great vessel, and great workmanship! You will have some great journeys in this ship.
Thanks so much!
This is a huge ship. It is going to be impressive when sailing. Great job.
Thank you!
Great tour. Look forward to seeing the “top secret” improvements !!
Hahah thanks! I have no idea what you're talking about 🤐
Godd work as usual😊
Tiger is going to be a very beautiful ship! 😂
great worker, tour guide so so
Thanks, I guess. And eh, you can't have everything :)
Great progress!
👍!!!
Good luck on the inspection. Loved the tour, I just need some of whatever you were smoking ;)
Thanks! Just a sniff of dieselfumes will do the trick :)
Thank you for sharing
Your brilliant 😊
Have you considered using a spray painter for those big areas such as the bilge?
Not really, we don't really have enough of these area's to justify the costs of spraypaint equipment. In dry dock the outside will be spraypainted, but that's with their equipment :)
The boat is looking terrific. I love the idea of covering walls with timber. The steel looks cold and not inviting. Keen to see it finished!
Thanks! I agree, gotta make it look and feel a bit welcoming :)
Thanks very much for the great video, I especially enjoyed the impromptu boat tour - seeing how you get around onboard. Best wishes for a smooth inspection and dry dock, you have an amazing ship.
You're most welcome! And thanks a lot!
Brilliant job on the big stuff. Now the fun work getting things tidy for the inspection. Good luck! Really enjoy your videos.
Thank you!
🥰😃😄👍👍👍👍
Moieh wat een dikke schuit is het toch.
Daar komt nog heel wat bij kijken
Het houdt ons van de straat :)
You have achieved a lot in the time, great update 2x👍
I see you coming along nicely. But you mentioned insulating the holway, but aren't they inside walls.you don't need insulation on inside walls
Thanks! The steel walls are directly connected to the steel deck above, so heat (or cold) is directly conducted down into the ship, that's why we can't really have any bare steel inside. Apart from that, it muffles the hallway noises in the cabin a bit more :)
En meget fin Tigerhai 👌
very nice!
Great video! Keep them coming please 🙂.
Will do!
Thanks for sharing, are you using furlers on the headstays or hanked on sails, grtz
We'll have a combination, 2 furlers and one or two hanked on sails
looks good will the boat go north to Svalbard, Greenland etc as well as the tropics?
Thanks! Yess we do have our minds set on Svalbard and the Caribean, but anything should be possible :)
I think that you will be needing aircon if you go to the tropics and I understand that could be expensive but I think that I might have an affordable solution for that. There's probably no need to cool the whole ship, just the room that's occupied! For that purpose you could use a portable unit. Cheaper to buy and run + they're very efficient!
We have floorheating in the wheelhouse which has the option to cool the floor as well, and will install it in the rest of the ship as well :)
Heiss, (correct spelling or not?) why are you painting SST fittings?
It's Gijs (or Gys, I know that doesn't make much sense in any other language than dutch) We paint all our stainless steel as well, just to have it blend in with the surroundings :)
Do not see photos on t-shirt pages
Thanks for the heads-up! Gotta look into that
