Law enforcement does not necessarily have to crack down or prohibit loud exhaust. But i suggest the public has the rights to take legal action against any loud car driver who has caused serious trouble, ruining people's living quality.
Every cholo and their mother has a loud fart box on their piece of junk 4 cylinder Honda. Its annoying. Cars not fast even if you put an obnoxious exhaust on it.
It's not just annoying. It's ruined my quality of life. I'm listening to them now at 10. I can't get away from them. My dog won't walk at night. my nervous system is shot. I'm moving out of VA after 45 years. what a complete crock.

Hope they enforce this law in Texas too, your muffler should not be that loud for no reason other than personal satisfaction. There is no logical reason for having that loud of a muffler; it is distracting (hazardous for other drivers as the sound coming from it distracts them), inconsiderate as even people in houses (especially at night) can hear it and in turn can not sleep, etc.

Deputy Barney Fife pulled me over for a loud muffler on my old Jeep.
While I was being detained on the side of the road, we had to repeat ourselves several times because of logging trucks rumbling by, which were many times louder.
Good to know the hall-monitor cops are protecting society from this heinous crime.

I disagree @la2123,:Law enforcement does have to get involved. The illegal modified exhaust is breaking the law now and will cause more accidents. It is the same as speeding, it is a road hazard that startles other drivers on purpose, causes confusion intentionally and this behavior does not belong on our roads where we have loved ones driving.(It is not a racetrack and a lot of people die on Americas roadways) There is a book out now titled; Illegal Modified Exhaust is a Road Hazard that is putting into the collective awareness why we must address this new critical situation on our roadways across America. This intentional disrespectful conduct is also waking people up out of their sleep and ruining their quality of life that they once enjoyed.(One ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, Philosophy)

This isn't an issue in Idaho since the police have never ticketed one the 10s of thousands of noisy vehicles in the history of the state. Actually they are beginning to prepare for the mass suicides that will result from the quiet electric vehicle revolution.
Think of how quiet the roads will be and cleaner the air will be if we all went electric? Think of the millions of noisy, smelly, polluting cars that are constantly driving on the road this very minute.

@@neonshark337 you're not gonna go to jail for a loud exhaust LOL you just get a ticket or a FIX IT order lol. those tickets don't carry hefty fines or raise rates. they can also be paid easily in 5 minutes. I run a straight pipe and other mods and I've gotten more compliments from cops than tickets, and most cops in VA don't care about what you have done to your car. as long as you have a plate, bumper and nothing dragging you should be good in most cases.

why do it for motorcycles? the point of an exhaust on a motorcycle in contrast to a car, is to hear them coming since people tend to "not see " motorists since were smaller, cars (even though imo, this law is ridiculous) are purely for the sound and cosmetic enjoyment, bikes actually have a purpose for having a louder exhausts. yes it CAN be cosmetic for them, but even so it still serves a safety purpose, esspecially with how many crashes that happen around here with them. makes no sense
