Just found your channel! I'm doing exactly the same thing trying to be scratch. Practicing every single day, and also started making videos. We all will get there one day! But most important is to have fun while doing it! I started 4 years ago (2018) and now a 9.2 handicap.
Oh, mate, I can so relate to this. I stopped playing in 2006, having played since I was a kid. I got down to 5, and just stopped enjoying it. I fell in love with cycling, and have raced for the past 17 years. But this summer, I needed a break from the intensity of race training, and have found myself being drawn back to golf. My son is now 27, plays off +2, and I’ve absolutely loved playing with him. I’ve now joined a local club, and am about to embark on a new chapter - one where golf is fun, something I do with my son & my brother (who’s a golf pro!), and something I can look forward to rather than dread….
One of the best golf videos ever. Thank you! I've been trying to get under a hundred consistently for the last 3 years and it's been a struggle. It is a frustrating game. Hit the balls fantastically at the range and then it all goes away on the course. That really makes you hate the game. Something you said echoes what my wife says when I return from the course. "But did you have fun??" Both of you are right - if you're not having fun, even with a bad score, then you have to fix that attitude and your expectations. Cheers!!
Appreciate the realistic tone of this video. It's a mindset all of us who love golf have felt many times. I recently took up golf again after a long hiatus and fell in love again. Today after only 3 months of practice i shot my best round at 50 years old. Cheers and Aloha from kaua'i
Just happened across this video...well the YT algorithm helped I am sure, and found it very inspiring. About 8 years ago now I was on a mission to break 90 and practiced like a mad man to do it. Watched more YT videos than I could possibly count. Bought some new clubs and practiced some more. And I reached my goal. Shooting regularly in the low to mid 80s. Then my best friend and golf mate unexpectedly passed away. It rocked my world and I completely lost my love for the game. I spent the next few years in a state of depression I thought I would never come out of. It took some time, hard work and a lot of love and support from family and friends to right the ship and get my life back together let alone the desire to play golf. But slowly it stated to creep back in and I was out in the yard practicing again. I am 66 now and retired so having golf come back into my life has been a blessing. My goal is to break 80 but I am not fixated on it. I want to enjoy the game and hopefully meet some new friends to golf with along the way. So I guess I am saying....life is a struggle for everyone and you are not alone. I wish you well on your journey brother and welcome back.
Thanks for sharing that my man. Sorry to hear you've had a tough time and glad to hear things are going well. I've always found golf a great way to make friends and it's probably much easier to do that when you're relaxed and enjoying the game than when obsessing over numbers!
Hey Rob. Thanks for sharing your journey. I am a bit older than you and share the same passion for golf. I am very fortunate to be able to share my golf with a great bunch of golfing mates. We are all at different levels but all love getting out on the paddock once a week and sharing the game together. A few years ago one of my mates posted on our golf chat site a letter from an old golfer who couldn’t play anymore. I am pretty sure it was intended for me or at least it appeared so because of how much it resonated with me. I am one of the lower handicappers in the group and back then I wore a little too much emotion on my sleeve when things didn’t go right on the course. I re-read the letter from time to time and it always brings a tear to my eye. But the most important thing it reminds me of is sharing this great game with my mates and storing away memories of times well spent with good friends; not getting down on myself for hitting a bad shot and possibly bringing everyone else around me down. I encourage you to read the letter; I believe there is something in it for all passionate golfers. The letter follows. Happy Golfing! Dear Younger Me Judging by how often we receive the following letter, it must be one of the most popular golf emails on the internet. Every few weeks a golfer sends it our way with a note saying, “I think you’ll like it. It sounds like something you guys would put out.” They’re right. It does sound like something we’d put out. And it is. The letter is an unattributed excerpt from Extraordinary Golf: The Art of the Possible by Fred and Pete Shoemaker. It seems to strike a chord with golfers everywhere. So let it strike some more… Dear Younger Me, I can’t play anymore. I tried to swing the club the other day but my body wouldn’t cooperate. The best I can do now is sometimes take walks on the course, but my eyes aren’t as good as they user to be so I don’t see much. I have a lot of time to sit and think now, and I often think about the game. It was my favorite game. I played most of my adult life. Thousands of rounds, thousands of hours practicing. As I look back, I guess I had a pretty good time at it. But now that I can’t do it anymore, I wish I’d done if differently. It’s funny, but with all the time I spent playing golf, I never thought that I was a real golfer, I never felt that I was good enough to really belong out there. It doesn’t make much sense, since I scored better than average and a lot of people envied my game, but I always felt that if I was just a little better or a little more consistent then I’d really feel good. I’d be satisfied with my game. But I never was. It was always “one of these days I’ll get it” or “one day I’ll get there” and now here I am. I can’t play anymore, and I never got there. I met a whole lot of different people out on the course. That was one of the best things about the game. But aside from my regular partners and a few others, I don’t feel like I got to know many of those people very well. I know they didn’t really get to know me. At times they probably didn’t want to. I was pretty occupied with my own game most of the time and didn’t have much time for anyone else, especially if I wasn’t playing well. So why am I writing you this letter anyway, just to complain? Not really. Like I said, my golfing experience wasn’t that bad. But it could have been so much better, and I see that so clearly now. I want to tell you, so you can learn from it. I don’t want you getting to my age and feeling the same regrets I’m feeling now. I wish, I wish. Sad words, I suppose, but necessary. I wish I could have played the game with more joy, more freedom. I was always so concerned with “doing it right” that I never seemed to be able to just enjoy doing it at all. I was so hard on myself, never satisfied, always expecting more. Who was I trying to please? Certainly not myself, because I never did. If there were people whose opinions were important enough to justify all that self-criticism, I never met them. I wish I could have been a better playing partner. I wasn’t a bad person to be with, really, but I wish I had been friendlier and gotten to know people better. I wish I could have laughed and joked more, and given people more encouragement. I probably would have gotten more from them, and I would have loved that. There were a few bad apples over the years, but most of the people I played with were friendly, polite and sincere. They really just wanted to make friends and have a good time. I wish I could have made more friends and had a better time. I’m inside a lot now, and I miss the beauty of the outdoors. For years when I was golfing I walked through some of the most beautiful places on earth, and yet I don’t feel as if I really saw them. Beautiful landscapes, trees, flowers, animals, the sky, the ocean-how could I have missed so much? What else was I thinking of that was so important-my grip, my backswing, my stance? Sure, I needed to think about those sometimes, but so often as to be oblivious to so much beauty? And all the green-the wonderful, deep, lush color of green! My eyes are starting to fail. I wish I had used them better so I would have more vivid memories now. So what is it that I’m trying to say? I played the type of game that I thought I should play, to please the type of people that I thought I should please. But it didn’t work. My game was mine to play, but I gave it away. It’s a wonderful game. Please, don’t lose yours. Play a game that you want to play. Play a game that gives you joy and satisfaction and makes you a better person to your family and friends. Play with enthusiasm, play with freedom. Appreciate the beauty of nature and the people around you. Realize how lucky you are to be able to do it. All too soon your time will be up, and you won’t be able to play anymore. Play a game that enriches your life. That’s all I have to say. I don’ really know just how this letter will get to you, but I hope that it reaches you in time. Take care. Love, Older Me
Wow, absolutely love this! Thanks so much for sharing. This is exactly what I've been thinking/realising recently. I might try to find a way to share this with more people...
My Gramps got me into golf at the age of 10 it something to take my mind off the passing away of my Dad. I got pretty good , managed to get down to 10 within a couple of years and won competitions for my school, but when I got to my teenage years I drifted away from the sport. At 18 my Gramps past away and even though I had so much love for the game I couldn't bring myself together to get back on the course as it brought back memories and emotions which I wasn't ready to face. 15+ years later I decided to pick up the golf club I've been playing 2months and my handicap is 11, I have good days and bad days but the golf course brings me peace it's not just about playing the game it's about the whole experience , smelling the fresh grass , seeing the wildlife , if I'm playing well or not I know the golf course is my happy place
"I've realised what's important in life and what isn't" Mate, if it's important to you then it's important and don't let anyone tell you any different!! We're only here once and I would encourage everyone to do the things they love (as long as it's not detrimental to themselves or anyone else) as often as possible and as long as you're enjoying it!!
Welcome back Rob! I followed your videos years ago and you're right, you were intense! Glad to see you've got the love of the game back and looking forward to the new content 🙂
I can definitely relate. Long story short. I left the US Navy to play golf. I wanted to turn pro. Practiced and practiced and practiced. I failed over and over. I hated it so much I struggled to watch it on TV. Finally I quit playing almost completely for like 10 years. I regret those 10 years now. Rediscovered my love for the game during the pandemic. So I feel your pain, and welcome back
Love your openness and honesty Rob. I would think that your relatability on golf and life’s challenges is why people like your channel, it’s certainly why I do.
Hey mate, I’m proper pleased this popped up in my feed. Never seen your Chanel before but I’m off 7 and am obsessed with getting down to scratch. A few in my family are + golfers and played with them yesterday and the pressure I put on myself was fucking awful, no enjoyment. I work for myself and all I think about in the office is my swing, and plotting around the course. I even think about bringing someone in so that I can play every day! Really beneficial to see this, keep them coming!!!
I absolutely love this video and I’m sharing the pain. I’m on the same journey and have stalled and I not often look forward to playing most of the time now. It’s comforting to know we all go through it
Got some really good advice from a mate of mine recently (he's gone from 12 to 2) which I think will help with the expectations and enjoyment side. Video coming soon!
lovely video that. I quit the game for years because of work and a back injury. Then because of Covid, i moved the to Algarve, took my clubs with me and began getting back back fixed (it's a long process with ups and downs), practicing golf and playing all the local courses. I've not joined a golf course yet to get a handicap, but i am tracking my rounds on Garmin.. HCP was previously 8. I was playing to about 12 a year ago, and about 7 right now.
Welcome back Rob! Found your channel when I started golf a few years back, wanted to some day emulate your journey down to scratch (was off 30 odd at the time..) Down to 14 now so progress, but your videos are more relatable than ever ! 😅 Looking forward to all the new content to come
Good luck Rob glad your getting back in to it, I was here for the original road to scratch but have enjoyed every video you have posted , keep it iup mate
This was hugely important for me to see, I’m a completionist I just can’t let things go that I start and with golf at the moment I’m at a similar stage where I’m getting feelings of stopping working as much to play more golf 😂 I need to keep this in my watch later to view it once a month
Mate, even when I had gone right off golf I hated the fact I'd started and not completed this mission! Good thing is it's never a failure unless you give up.
Nice to see you back at it. That golfers expectation is a real joy killer. Managed to get myself down to 8 but was at the expense of any enjoyment in golf. Was faced with 2 options, pack it in or work on letting my expectation at home and put the focus on enjoying the time I got to play. I still link results with enjoyment but I'm trying 😇. If your not enjoying it your not doing it right! Best of luck
So good to see you back Rob. Keep going, never give up. It’s a fight for all of us but I have learnt to be happy at the end of the round even if I haven’t played well. I look forward to the next time I play. I hope you can do the same. I love your golf swing by the way.
Cheers mate 😀 Yeah, I used to always look forward to the next round and it's good to have that feeling back. Funny, I don't love my swing but trying to change that! Next video I'm working on is kind of all about that...
Hi Rob, good to see you are better and have picked up the club's again. I have not hit a ball 10 months due to back injury and then played in a social day at cardrona Scotland. 1st par 3 I picked up a 2 and then 2nd par 3 189 yds and sunk my first ever hole in one. I wasn't even swinging well due to the back. It's a funny game.
Sounds great! Good to see you back & playing again. You inspired me to dust off my golf clubs and go have fun at the driving range this weekend. Take care Rob!
This is so interesting and relatable. Have not watched any of your other videos... yet! Ive thought of recording my own journey but it seems so daunting so good on you. I gave up golf in 2009 after playing for 5 years because was frustrated chasing the ideal.impact. Picked it back up just as covid was happening in wuhan nov 2019.... scoring better now, finally broke 90 and playing in the mid 80s. But I am a constant tickering, seeing video of my swing always sends me down the rabbit hole.
@@RobMcGarr yeah I can imagine it’s difficult mate! Been going to porthcawl and only been about 4/5 times, had one beginner lesson then just taught myself from there really but would love to learn from someone who has an idea so would love to see that content from you bud
Used to watch all your golf stuff am off 8 dream get to scratch maybe to old now plus mentally awful playing before work after had lessons feel big improvement so close am I dreaming cannot wait for your content
Welcome back Rob look forward to watching your videos on golf again. I too befriended Liam and we sometimes play golf at my course in Dorset, Remedy Oak if you ever fancy a game there or want to shoot a Vlog there I’d be happy to host you. All the best and nice to have you back.
Cheers Mike, Liam always raved about that place so would love to play it sometime. My sister lives in Southbourne so maybe next time I'm down that way...
Brilliant video. I’ve been going through a lot of what you describe, particularly getting my head in a total fuzz with all the swing thoughts, trying to manufacture shots, trying to force the ball down there. Sometimes it’s like I’ve forgotten how to hold a club properly! New subscriber here now, look forward to watching the journey.
@RobMcGarr Some things were amazing. Driving, 3W, got 5 up n downs, had some crispy shots too. Other parts like chunking in tge fairway, chunking chips, and 41 putts didn't help. Gusty 30+ mph winds made it a tough day for all of us. Out of 2 cards, I won with a 93. Been practicing up, just played my 4th round. Still chucked a few, 2 up and downs, solid day of driving, but got a 45 on the front and a 42 on the back for a 87 with probably 38 to 40 putts. Usually I putt have about 30 to 34 putts, and don't chunk it in the fairway. Once I get putting and fairway shots under control I should get back into the 70's. That's the plan, but so far, a 93, 92, not sure on our fun match play rd, and an 87. When I left off before I had to take off, I was at 82 to 85 so all in all.... 👍👍👍 Thank you for all your tips and content!! BEST
Wow, a Fried Eggs Golf course vlog AND a Rob McGarr vlog in the same week? This is the most hope I've had for the world getting back to normal in a very long time! ⛳
My love of golf has been reignited after a shoulder injury and surprisingly my handicap has dropped quite a bit. I've broken 80 a number of times and now my journey to shoot par seems a lot more attainable than before.
Great video Rob! Nice to see you enjoying the game again. I think Learning to enjoy the game when you’re an overly competitive person (me) is one of the hardest things to overcome. I’ve realised the amount of time i have outside daily life, I’ll never make scratch but at least I’ve come to terms with that and made peace with myself
I'm going down this rabbit hole too 🤣. Trick for me is not to focus on expectations but rather to enjoy the journey and absorb the game fully. It's both euphoric and painfully soul destroying but that's what it is.....
I quit for 3 years and was a 6 nd some change when I started again in April 2021. April 2022 I finally hit scratch again. Now I'm trying to catch my all time low of a +1.8 in 2016 I'm at +0.1. Cool video.
Better wedge it damn well and have good speed control with the putter. Also play to your strengths. Don't lay back with a 3 iron on a 350 yard hole if you're a great driver of the golf ball rip that driver. Stuff like that
Don't ever get big, you excellent and possibly my favourite Golf UA-camr. The rest are all getting too big for their boots, except Rick I think. Keep up the good work, glad your back 😉😃
I'm a lanky, balding 38-year-old who is currently pretty woeful at golf... I look forward to the day when there's even the opportunity to get too big for my boots! 😂 I'm loving Rick's videos at the mo.
@@RobMcGarr lots of women go for that pal. Life's great been tall. Just keep it real pal and I will keep watching, liking and follow. I wish I could play golf like you. Hopefully one day. 👏😉
I’ve quit golf a couple of times due to frustration. I couldn’t afford lessons and it was so hard teaching myself. I was shooting around 110 when I quit a couple of years ago. I started getting lessons from a PGA pro, but also got more mature and didn’t get as mad over bad stretches. I averaged about 95 two seasons ago and about 88 last season. So I’ve improved my average 22 strokes in two seasons. I still have four lessons in my package so the goal is to average in the low 80s by the end of this season.
Great channel an I definitely know how you feel , I play in west Australia an after aussies rules I decided to take on golf .37 years old no lessons basically self taught, mate how frustrating is it gees I want to some times hit that ball off the green with my driver .57 this year got it down to 3 handicap probably a few thousand balls lost an now just getting lessons haha and injured myself .gees it’s still frustrating but iam chasing that elusive scratch number .love it hate it all the emotions but with a few mates it’s still a great game
The harder you try the worse you get.... i played for 20 years and got fed up of trying to get to scratch and just about give up! I Had a horrific bike crash during lock down and thought Id never play again. After over 18 months of no golf having a metal plate removed from around my elbow joint end of last year I Started again in Jan 22 and within 5 months got down to scratch! Purely by not caring about my scores and just being grateful to be able to play golf. Just enjoy it thats all I can say.

Thank you, there should be a lot more smiles this time! 👍
Welcome back Rob! I followed your videos years ago and you're right, you were intense! Glad to see you've got the love of the game back and looking forward to the new content 🙂
Thanks man 👍😀
He's BACK! Glad your life is going well, one of my favorite golf channels, so down to earth. Cheers Mate!!
Cheers bro, that's great to hear! 😀
The struggle is real!!! I have been a follower and fan. Keep having fun and working towards whatever goal you have. I know I can relate.
Yep, what's the point if you're not having fun along the way! 😊
So I feel your pain, and welcome back
Thanks man, and welcome back to you too! I definitely feel a different type of love for it now - and I like it 😊
I just happened to find this video and bravo good sir! Love it lol. What an arc. I subscribed.
💔
Great stuff. I’m an average 7.2 with a slightly reduced ambition to get to 4.9…..love the journey. So so relatable!
Cheers Sean! 👍
Love your openness and honesty Rob. I would think that your relatability on golf and life’s challenges is why people like your channel, it’s certainly why I do.
2016 I'd been playing 2 years & was down to 18 from 22, now off 7.7 gone up from 5.9 a few weeks ago! Great to see you back on YT Rob! 👍
Thanks mate, and that's some good improvements there! 👏
Glad your back and seem happy and healthy. Keep on dreaming and enjoy the ride, we only get one ticket.
Great to see you back at it Rob....
Cheers Dave, loving being out there playing some evening rounds at the mo 😍
I absolutely love this video and I’m sharing the pain. I’m on the same journey and have stalled and I not often look forward to playing most of the time now. It’s comforting to know we all go through it
Got some really good advice from a mate of mine recently (he's gone from 12 to 2) which I think will help with the expectations and enjoyment side. Video coming soon!
Welcome back. So happy you are back on the horse!
Cheers Ian, same here! 😊
lovely video that.
Was close to moving there myself a couple of years ago! How are you finding it?
So good to see you back mate!
Cheers dude, it's great to be back!
Welcome back Rob. Good to see you, glad you are doing well.
Thank you 👍
Yes Rob!! Great to see you playing & enjoying your golf again 😀
Thanks mate!
Welcome back Rob! Found your channel when I started golf a few years back, wanted to some day emulate your journey down to scratch (was off 30 odd at the time..) Down to 14 now so progress, but your videos are more relatable than ever ! 😅 Looking forward to all the new content to come
Nice one Jamie, sounds like you're on a good journey! 😀
Your storytelling is unbelievable mate. Great video
Cheers bro 😄
Glad to see another golf video. Thats how I first found this channel years ago. Look forward to seeing the next video 👍
Cheers dude, course vlog will be out soon! 😬
I'm glad to see you back with a new outlook. Hope you are doing well
Cheers Don, hope you are too 🤜🤛
Welcome back! About time too, theres no cure for this addiction.
Great to see you back Rob, always great content and hair back again.
Cheers Carl, easy come easy go with the hair these days!
Good luck Rob glad your getting back in to it, I was here for the original road to scratch but have enjoyed every video you have posted , keep it iup mate
Cheers Ricky, appreciate you sticking around 🤜🤛
Good to see ya back. Greetings from Philadelphia .
Thank you! 😄
Welcome back! Good to see you.
Cheers Mark! 😊
So pleased to have your videos back!
Thanks Simon, me too! 😄
Good man yourself Rob! Welcome back, and hello to a more serene mindset.
Cheers Mark 😄
Toooo cute! Don’t even play golf but I’m here 🙋🏼♀️
Glad to see your video, missed following your golf adventure bc it was so relatable!! Looking forward to a course vlog!
I hope for everyone else's sake that they don't relate to this course vlog too much! 😬
Glad to see you back Rob. Always enjoyed your content. We all suck, but we can all suck together and celebrate the moments of competence.
Glad to see you back on the course Rob always enjoyed your videos !!
Cheers dude, it's great to be back out there!
Well done Rob good to see you’ve come out the other side, hope you’re still throwing the club into those towels, keep it on the short green stuff.👍⛳️
Think I need to get the towels out ASAP to be honest!
Didn’t realise it was that long ago! Glad to see you back in a good place pal
Time flies! Cheers dude 👍🏻
Great to see u back and well!!!
Thank you 😊
Good to have you back Rob.
Thanks 😊
I love this! I remember when you posted that you weren’t going to keep playing and take some time off… it’s good to see you again.
Cheers Josh, not planning any more videos like that! 💪
Nice one. Good to see you are back.
Another banger from my favorite brit. Keep them coming Rob. Great to watch your journey a lot of us can relate to
Thanks mate, plenty more to come!
Thank you can't wait to see them
Good to have you back Rob. Glad your ok.
Thanks Roger 😄 Doing well, hope you are too.
Always good to see you back fella!
Cheers Jake, it's good to be back! 😄
Good to see you back, but more chilled!
Thank you! 😄
Great to see you back.
Thanks bro, it's great to be back!
Great to see your content again, realy liked following your progress
Thank you, hope you enjoy it this time too!
No way! Must be golf's way of welcoming you back! Congrats on the ace dude!
Good to see you back 🏌🏽♂️
Cheers John, it's great to be back! 👍
Nice one mate, good to hear from you again 👍😎
Cheers Richard, it's great to be back 👍
Good to see you back !
Thanks mate, good to be back! 👍
Sounds great! Good to see you back & playing again. You inspired me to dust off my golf clubs and go have fun at the driving range this weekend. Take care Rob!
Awesome! Hope you hit some good ones 😄
Great job , absolutely love the Honesty! Best of luck , hopefully I'll be following your progress, ! Enjoy, be safe!
Ah man, me too, and it hardly ever makes me any better (worse, if anything!) Watching all the swing stuff on Insta and UA-cam doesn't help me either!
Good to see you back 👊 would be interesting to see content about surfing too I’ve been trying to learn!
Actually really wanted to make a surfing video but difficult to film! Where are you surfing and how's it going so far?
@@RobMcGarr yeah I can imagine it’s difficult mate! Been going to porthcawl and only been about 4/5 times, had one beginner lesson then just taught myself from there really but would love to learn from someone who has an idea so would love to see that content from you bud
Used to watch all your golf stuff am off 8 dream get to scratch maybe to old now plus mentally awful playing before work after had lessons feel big improvement so close am I dreaming cannot wait for your content
How old are you? I doubt you're too old!
@@RobMcGarr big 50
@@simonwilson4240 Definitely not too old then - not even close!
Cheers Tommy. I think you'll enjoy the video I'm working on right now 😀
Well done Rob, your on a great path!
Cheers bro! 😀
Very good intro on your journey. I'm super glad I am subscribed to you.
Git my first rd in almost 7 months in 5 hours
Sorry for the slow reply! How'd the round go? 🙏
@RobMcGarr
Some things were amazing.
Thank you for all your tips and content!! BEST
Love it mate. Can't wait for the next 🤌🏽
Cheers dude, course vlog coming soon... 😬
So happy to see you back at it!
Thank you! 😊
Great to see you golfing again Rob!
All the best!
Thanks amigo! 😄
Wow, a Fried Eggs Golf course vlog AND a Rob McGarr vlog in the same week? This is the most hope I've had for the world getting back to normal in a very long time! ⛳
That's the collaboration the world needs!
On the same path, Rob. So many similarities, except for one. I'm at 33.9 HCP. ( : Thanks for sharing, really enjoy these!!!!
Thanks buddy 👍🏻 It doesn't matter where you start, it's where you finish that counts!
Good to see you back mate 👍🏻
Cheers Steve, it's great to be back! 😄
My love of golf has been reignited after a shoulder injury and surprisingly my handicap has dropped quite a bit. I've broken 80 a number of times and now my journey to shoot par seems a lot more attainable than before.
Average golfers don’t understand how hard this is and neither do I. Keep working man and don’t let anyone tell you what to do
Cheers Michael 👍👍
Great video Rob! Nice to see you enjoying the game again. I think Learning to enjoy the game when you’re an overly competitive person (me) is one of the hardest things to overcome. I’ve realised the amount of time i have outside daily life, I’ll never make scratch but at least I’ve come to terms with that and made peace with myself
Cheers Andy! If you're enjoying it, you're winning 😀
Hi Rob good to see you back,
Thanks, it's great to be back!
A pleasure to see you back Sir! truly. How is Simba?
He's doing great, thanks for asking! He'll be appearing in a video soon, actually... 🐕🤩
Glad to have you back :)
Thank you, it's great to be back!
I want to try that to so I’m trying …..and thank you for put it out there that it’s not ez it’s hard work
I'm going down this rabbit hole too 🤣. Trick for me is not to focus on expectations but rather to enjoy the journey and absorb the game fully. It's both euphoric and painfully soul destroying but that's what it is.....
Absolutely mate, got to embrace it all 😀
@@RobMcGarr Devon life for me too.
Welcome back Rob!
Cheers Karl!
Excited too see the progression! Come play Dawlish Warren if you're in Devon now 👌👌
Defo! Played with a mate at Hunstanton on Monday, he shot +1 and I shot +9, almost all down to short game.
DAMN I really felt this!! Keep going because you love the game!
Good to see you back playing again Rob. A rest is as good as a change.... It's what they say isn't it?
I'm great at butchering well-known sayings so that sounds about right to me!
Best words I heard were "it isnt that important" it's just golf. I just that rare feeling of flushing one and it goes exactly where you wanted it too.
I quit for 3 years and was a 6 nd some change when I started again in April 2021. April 2022 I finally hit scratch again. Now I'm trying to catch my all time low of a +1.8 in 2016 I'm at +0.1. Cool video.
Nice 👌 Any tips on getting to scratch?! 🙏
Better wedge it damn well and have good speed control with the putter. Also play to your strengths. Don't lay back with a 3 iron on a 350 yard hole if you're a great driver of the golf ball rip that driver. Stuff like that
Love your video Rob!!
A great story of life!
I followed you for years and then un-followed when you gave up golf and now I am following again. Please don't give up again 😁😁😁
Hope the injury clears up soon bro and you can get back on the journey! 💪
That's so good to hear 💪 What were you off at the start of the five months? That's the approach I have now and pretty sure it'll help 👍
5.9.
Welcome to Devon, I’ve been following your channel for years. If you ever fancy a game at Tiverton, I’d love to have you as my guest ⛳️⛳️
Thanks but I'm actually now in Norfolk for a while! Fell in love with Devon though so may well be back...
nice to see you back playing
Cheers Paul, it's great to be back!
Welcome back Rob! Golf can be cruel, cherish the good rounds and laugh at the poor ones! 👊🏼
…and practice on the range and play on the course! 😉
Wise words, thanks dude! 👍
