- Over the past few months, British golfers have faced considerable challenges due to record-breaking rainfall, resulting in the closure of numerous golf courses for a long time. Despite these obstacles, I've persevered and finally had the opportunity to go and play in our beloved sport once again, particularly at two beautiful courses I've never had the pleasure of playing, Silecroft and Dunnerholme. Join me on my journey as I transition from a period of frustration to embracing the joy of being back out on the course. I hope you'll enjoy experiencing this transformation with me!

Filming this video has been a joy, though it took some time with multiple trips to get it just right. Each outing was an adventure in itself, but the result was worth every moment. I'd greatly appreciate your support by liking and commenting, as it really helps the video reach more viewers. Hope you enjoy the video!
Well that is one sh-tty divot at 23:55.
Liam, I want your fourball. What an awesome venue. Up the golfmates..
Hitting the ball really well Liam
Every video looks seamless but obviously a lot of time and hard work goes into them. You deserve every success
Liam I want your fourball 🏌🏻♂️
I was just thinking how great it is that Golfmates channel is up there with the big boys of UK Golf UA-cam and there is no fancy celebrities every week, no poncy courses. Just real men and women who enjoy playing the game in good spirits 💪 admirable how you've built this fan base. You show the side of golf the other channels can't be bothered too and I love it
Cheers Ben
Liam, I want your 4ball at Dunnerholme 👍
Thanks for coming along to Dunnerholme Golf Club and the name shout out for me... Come back soon, you will be blown away when you can actually see the views.
I be back. Not got a crap hole
Thank you Liam for doing what it is you do! These videos cheer me up when I can't play and I'm nearly out of hospital, so I think I'll have to wait another 4 or 6 weeks before I can play again.
Weather be better for you then pal
Never played golf in my life but have watched most of your content on facebook and now onto here.... As a complete non golfer, love it 👍
Cheers pal
throwback to the early days dropping the club and running in for your zoom. Love it.
What a great experience. I visited the area a few years ago. For an Aussie, the countryside up that way is something very special. All you needed was a hip flask of the local whiskey. Thanks again for great viewing and terrific commentary. Keep up the great work Liam.
Lol great shout
Imagine once upon a time, that beautiful seaside view would have been spectacular. You could have looked out and imagined how many people before you had stood and looked upon that vista. And then they planted those wind turbines. Disgusting blights on our beautiful land. Great video mate.
Mr Kipling. Cheers for aways watching and commenting pal 👍👍👍👍👍
Next time your in the area come and play the beautiful course in ulverston
I was brought up in Barrow and never heard of either of those courses Liam, have played Silloth, lovely course ,the hole with the gong is a great hole ,I'd love a 4 ball at either of those courses buddy, keep smiling 😃
Brilliant that I know the feeling everywhere wet , too wet for golf and you find a gem where you can actually play , nice courses too 😊
Liam i want your Four Ball! What a couple of gorgeous courses. I wanted to play on my birthday last week for the first time in years and the weather ruined that plan, I'm really looking forward to spring!
Fantastic courses. I used to play in the Junior Open at Dunnerholme back in the 80’s. Unusual course with the 10 holes and the sheep. 😂⛳️👍🏼
Love the sheep
Silecroft was my home course as a kid, amazing little course and not easy as it’s nearly always blowing a gale, so good to see you visit it Liam! We used to play club matches every year against Dunnerholme with the par 3 up the hill, great days
Still are psl
Spot on Liam, when you're feeling a little down, grab your clubs and get a round of golf in..🏌🏾♂️⛳! The walk alone will do you a power of good..👍👌👏!! Two great looking short courses today mate..👍👏👏
So true the wailk was brilliant
Back to what you love doing Liam, finding these hidden gems. Keep it going, chin up mate!
It is pal
Only just discovered Golf mates and I can't stop watching the vids. I've learned loads of tips and cant wait to get out and get swinging....
Cheers 🍻
Liam, I want your 4 ball, great course on a sunny day I bet,, ✔️✔️.. Keep smiling, keep up the good work
Liam
Really good to see you on your own experiencing great courses that are off the beaten track
More of this
Cheers
Thank you so much
Played this course in 1992 when working on a pipeline from Barrow up to Sellafield. Good to see the course looking so good and well done for searching out these 'midget gems'...
Cheers steve lad
@@GolfMatesAfter watching your videos for the last 3.5 years, you've rekindled the passion and convinced me to start back playing this wonderful game again. 35 years since I was last a member at Reay GC (top of Scotland), I'll be joining Keperra GC here in Brisbane. Keep up the good work - you don't know how much this outlet you provide means to those who do not or cannot play.
Liam what a beautiful course at Silecroft. Thanks for not giving up mate. I love it when you go exploring because we travel too.
Cheers Ken
I'll have a four ball on either, very jealous of you Liam getting to wear white golf shoes, think my golf boots bonded to my feet and when my local course gets to open it's like the Somme (obvo without Germans trying to shoot me) the weather is still awful weeks after this video was shot😢😢
Hopefully it changes soon
Big shock this morning turning around the corner near the practice putting area to see you and your nephew at Our Silecroft golf course! Two Smashing fellows please come again and play in the Summer you won’t be disappointed 👍
Cheers pal
Great stuff Liam and Pres. The bucket list is becoming a barrel list and will end up a Euclid list. If you don't know what that is google it, you'll be suprised. Thanks again Golf Mates.
A barrel
What a fantastic course. What proper golf is all about. Liam I want your 4 ball please.
i do like these small trips you do alone, commentary is paced, easy and just relaxing. Thanks Liam.
Cheers pal
A hidden gems series in winter 😊 brilliant, kudos to the volunteer greenkeeper 👏 well done Liam some picturesque holes on both those courses.
There was pal. Hope your weather is ok there
@GolfMates Sun out this past few days but I've been stuck at work, off tomorrow and playing golf after leave the youngest to school
Great video Liam, need to come and play those courses in the Summer when i come up to see Johny and Tony. More of these please. Top work 👍⛳️
Cheers pal
Liam you are blessed mate !! Cracking vid ! When your a bit down look back at yout decorating days , no comparrison ! Iknow because im still house bashing on site at 61 , really enjoy what you have created for yourself !!!! Regards mate
Cheers brother of the brush
When the hail is smacking my windows I can watch one of your videos and realise why I fell in love with golf 57 years ago.
Both courses so natural and the settings marvellous. Maybe you can tour the area in summer. Cheap golf uncrowded courses wonderful scenery. Best of all reasonably easy to get to. Another ace video. Thanks Liam and your team.
Thank you sir
Liam, great to see you out on your travels again, these are the videos I love, when you get to see some of these beautiful little courses…..liking the new graphics too 🏌️♂️ 👍
Cheers pal.
Every costal links course I see you play is better than any course I’ve ever played. Thanks for showing these courses. You’re driving the heck out of it, Liam.
Did ok that day. Cheers psl. Just love a edventre
“Let us know if you liked this video…”..what are you like?!! Of course we liked this Liam. You never make a bad one mate. You always show your golf mates some gems of courses, that are off the beaten track, that most have never heard of, nor would ever be likely to play, if it wasn’t for your research. Brilliant mate. As usual. Cheers from the Giant’s Causeway coast. 😄👍⛳️☘️
I will get near there. There’s a course on my list
@@GolfMates - What…only one?!! We’ve got lots! And they’re all close by! Views you won’t believe…until you’re here! Cheers mate. 😜
Dunnerholme was the 1st course l ever played, some 50 years ago. You don't play the par 3 up the hill and the par 4 down the hill on the back 9.
Happy memories of that wonderful course.
Great holes 🕳️
Great finds Liam. Must have taken a while to drive up there over 3 days. OMG the petrol! Surely there's some around Manchester. Ever played Buxton & High Peak GC? Still open this time of year and not too far from you.
There is but it was the only place dry
I have said it before but just love videos when it's just you and the camera on your own can't beat a good solo
Cheers pal
I love the way you can keep the audience captivated on your own . It’s a tough thing to do and you nail it .
Cheers ray
Marvellous that. Springs on it's way
Hope bloodyvsov
Not been able to play for a while due to the rain. You have made me want to get out there again. Can't wait, out tomorrow. Yippee.
Sun it out
LIAM i don't think you have ever made a lets say a not so good video ive watched them all . Great characters around you but these golf courses you visit are what i call back of beyond i love them . Your ireland trip with roy and mr scoopy woopy was exceptional you really have concorde you tube ❤
Wow, thanks David
I love these videos Liam.
So many golf channels just play on courses that are the total opposite of these little wonders that you find.
Your channel is excellent at reminding us all that golf is not about playing Just the 'PERFECT' courses that are advertised to the maximum. remember these smaller courses that are little gems.
these places are real golf courses, with outstanding views that need people to play them. imagine losing courses like these!
Oh, more run and zoom please. kind of miss that!
Martin I agree. Cheers psl
what a gorgeous course at Silecroft and the surrounding area, loved the overhead of the par 3 surrounded by bunkers
Cheers pal
Love your channel. You've got our support! What a great find at Silecroft. We hope to get to the UK to play someday.
They both was brilliant
Liam your excitement on finding these small, nature oriented courses is contagious. I'm a bit jealous watching this from the States, but how could any golfer not enjoy watching you play these gems! Good on you son, hope your local weather clears up soon. With all that rain Chorlton should be the greenest course in England this summer.
I hope so
Thanks Liam for bringing these clubs to our attention. I have often spent a weekend in Barrow-in-Furness and never knew about these! Cheers, Jim L
Belters they are
Liam, I want your fourball ...Always love these hidden gems. I'm cheesed off too with this weather we have had. Never known a rainy spell these last 6 months or so. Hoping its dry next month when I'm up at Close House for my 66th birthday. Treat from my better half. That'll cheer me up, just like your vlogs Liam. Cheers mate.
Xx have a great time bud
@GolfMates cheers mate. X
Best line you ever said Liam on first course 1903 …21 years old lol cracking video again
Lol 😂 ffs did I say that
Brilliant little 2 course vlog that Liam. Both courses look well worth a visit in the summer as only 90 minutes from me. Keep smiling mate, sunnier times ahead. ❤
It’s coming
Really enjoyed this video Liam. Your ability to find new and interesting courses, and then share your obvious enjoyment of playing them either on your own or with mates, irrespective of how you are playing, with your viewers is unrivalled on UA-cam. Top job.
Cheers neil
I want your fourball Liam.
Love that you say you used to be a golf snob, maybe make the others think about it! If the weather holds I might head 2 hours south to Crichton in Dumfries for a 9 holer there, my wife is working there for the day and I get brownie points for driving, keeping her company and the fuel is paid for so I can't lose
Boom boom 💥 hope the weather holds out
Thanks Liam 2 great courses that thanks to you are on our radar. Your Monday night episodes make the start of the week much more enjoyable
Lee cheers pal
Liam I love these type of videos, great to see the little hidden gems around the place. Also great to see you in such a good mood when you are playing the enthusiasm is infectious!
Nev cheers pal
Fantastic video- our course is like a swamp so great to see some links golf on firm ground. Great looking courses 👍
Loads the same
Liam i want your four ball.
Great video, and really good to see you out on some lesser known clubs.
I'm a member at Marsden golf club, which is a great 9 hole course. Really don't get the snobbery around them.
They are great
As a member of Dunnerholme, it's great to see the course getting some recognition. If you think the views were good, please come back in the summer and you'll see the Lake District mountains and full sea views the clouds were hiding.
Can’t believe the tide was out.
two fantastic hidden gems them Liam,I think it's brilliant you and youngen travel all around showing us these courses, decent golf played anorl.👏👏👍
Cheers mr Morton
Brilliant to see courses you wouldn't think where out there great
I going to find so more
Great video Liam, enjoyed it so much.. quaint courses with amazing scenery.. thank you for your passion of golf and the joy it brings people!! Cheers
Think you’re living everyone’s daydream Liam. Great video.
Had a good day there. Hey I looked good to x
Great to see all the small golf clubs been shown, they always seem to surprise you when you play there and alot of fun, doesn't really matter what you score it's all about playing
My face is always true
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Dunnerholme, you should definitely come back in summer when the sheep are off & the course is at it's best!
Alec, Head Greenkeeper
(The tall one! 😂)
Me so high lol. Cheers Alec I be back
Liam I'm proud to say I've been watching here in Ireland since day one and throughout you have kept it real for real people it's a credit to you 👏
Which I dve like to have seen you go for that drive on the last tho haha
Thank you 🙏
Liam, these videos bring so much joy and pleasure to so many. I played carrus Green recently after seeing it on your channel and it was superb. I’m seeing and wanting to visit so many more courses and the golfmates channel keeps inspiring us. Keep going chin up. I want your 4 ball.
Absolutely thank you sir for that nice comment
I'll let you have the point for these two course presentations - super stuff! Well done Liam.
Wow what a lovey course the first one . Liam I want your 4 ball 😊 and Dunnerholme Golf well what can I say 😮
Stunning
A couple of real hidden gems. What a great little video. If I were there I'd have to play the full course on each of them. So glad you two could get out to share this with us.
Wanted to but knew the weather was coming in
Haven't played here since before Christmas! 200% of seasonal rainfall so far this winter....@@GolfMates
I simply love playing new courses, or returning to courses I haven't played for many years. Played six so far this year. It is so good for mental health
It truly is
Great video Liam. Hats off to you for the multiple trips. Dedication to the cause. You certainly work hard. BTW, at 10:40, when you were talking to that bloke at first glance I thought you had a set of bagpipes under your arm!
Ha ha loads said that
Great video Liam, I've missed these videos of you on your own, just wandering round and chatting, need more 18 hole ones like this, please revive the break 80 series! Cheers, and remember not long till the weather improves, April 18th is my guess 😂!
I love to mark
Great video Liam, as ever and both look stunning courses. I attribute your Golf Mates channel into getting me back into golf 18 months ago, (after 10 yr absence) and I'm loving it. By the way....as a newly married man I can't believe you didn't know if it was 13 or 14 Feb......14th being Valentines Day. 🌻❤⚘️
It was 13 th lol 😂. Thank god x
2 picturesque course stunning well played pal your living the dream liam keep it up pal 👍🏻⛳️🏌️
Just love the fond memories of my years in Cumbria that resurface watching your videos. Thank you so much Liam. BTW you would be blown away with New Zealand golf mate.
One day I get a sponsor to go there
@GolfMates just remember to give me a shout and it's my treat for a round
Liam I want your four ball I’m with you Liam. So depressed with the rain and no golf. Your videos keep me going. Thanks guys
Cheers pal
Proper Scotland vibe is seascale that way ? That's a great track got to get up to panmure we are playing there again this summer special place you would love it . Loving the new mix of vlogs pal keep up the great work
Cheers rob lad
Look mint places, me and 3 mates are just starting to build our annual golf trip… another reason to watch more of these vids and hidden gem series again 😂
So true pal. Golf trip are the best
Another fantastic video Golf Mates!!
A great cheer up and some solid golf too Liam!
All the best.........
Cheers pal
Please cone back to Dunnerholme in the summer. Views are amazing. You see the lake district fells for miles. Also, the sheep are off by summer, so the fences are taken down.
I might just do that
GMF Done..............................lovley to see the older style videos
Thank you
I live in an area that has several 9 hole courses but very few public 18 hole courses so I play a lot of 9 hole courses... These were beautiful places... Great video... Good golf... Cheers...
Thank you
The effort was worth it Liam. Cracking reviews of the two little courses of South Cumbria. So pleased you dont let the choddy weather in the North West hold you back. It would be really easy to just give up!
3 days just for the drone lol kept raining
@GolfMates must be racking the miles up on that Audi! 🤣
Great video, laughed out loud when you picked up sheep poo!! 🤣🤣
Great video - Thank you.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again. Best channel on UA-cam bar none. The feel good factor from all Golfmate videos is fantastic. The world needs more people like you Liam 😀
Thank you so much
I look forward to watching your channel all the time. Yeah, the weather has been rubbish, but the videos you make sure do cheer people up. Keep up the good work. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Cheers mr Clark
Liam, I just loved this video, one of the best in a long time for me. I started playing on a 9 hole course which was really difficult and the different tee positions to make it an 18 hole course really changed the hole second time round. People should not be put off if a course only has 9 holes. “I really want your 4 ball” More of these unknown courses would be great and I am sure gives a great boost to these courses
Think you will love Mondays then
My favourite video of the year, but I'm bias as Dunnerholme is my club. Hope to see you back in the summer when it's sunny and those views will blow your mind. A real hidden gem!!
It is that
Ps that b-roll/drone footage was brilliant!!! Great work fellas.
Cheers pal
😂All golf mates are fed up with weather, but brilliant video Liam thanks to you and Pres for turning out and playing some good golf.
Cheers mr green
I want your four ball. Liam you played very well and I am sure with the sun out the courses are nothing short of spectacular. Thanks for all of your videos. As others have said this is by far the best UA-cam channel about golf.
Thank you so much for your nice words
Black Combe, if you can see it, it’s going to rain. If you can’t it’s already raining. Played Silecroft many years ago, I’m sure it didn’t use to have bunkers. Really enjoyed it. Great video.
Here’s paul
really like the hidden gems & when you just get in the car & drive. Always make a list of where you have played. Silecroft & Dunnerholme have been added. Courses round me in Warwickshire have been shut for weeks, its this kind of video that's keeping me sane.. cheers Liam.
What is your name
Two cracking little course's there, yes we're all struggling with the weather...keep the faith 😏👊🏌️👉
Will do
Your work has rewarded us. Cracking video.
I love 9 hole courses / especially in the Borders region of Scotland (Selkirk, etc).
Greetings from Oz.
Cheers john
Liam I want your fourball.
Thanks for bringing these to us, courses that we can all play.
Cheers pal
Played this course a few times when I’ve been that way with work! Absolutely love it and the wind is a killer
I bet they are
Mate that was awesome! You guys have some beautiful unique courses in IUK. I love these videos where you go to these unknown courses. What great characteristics these course have. I was depressed after going to the range and hitting a few shanks! Haven’t played for ages. This video cheered me up, because you enjoyed playing the game. Time for me to do the same. Get my mojo back. So thanks for making the effort to go out there and film these terrific places!🏌️👍🏽
Absolutely get your mojo bk pal
Love the video Liam. Reminds of "the old days" with your channel combined with Hidden Gems. The running back to zoom in, just you playing. Magic mate. Ps. I'd like the fourball please!
Thank you for your comment brain
Great video, Liam. Just goes to show there must be hundreds of hidden gems throughout the country.
Hope so because I try and find them
Liam
Have you played church Stretton golf club.
It's on top of long mynd definitely a quirky course and never water logged. The views are amazing but you will be knackered after.
Great video Liam. Could almost see the fog of winter depression lifting from above your head. Even down here in the South East most inland courses have been pretty much unplayable since October, think we're all in need of a trip to the seaside!
So true we do. Weathers got to change asap
Liam…calling from PEI, Canada…Have you ever played Bungay and Waveny golf course, in SE England…played there in 1884,85, when I was a teacher in Beccles…Have to get back some day…Now I’m 67 years old…Your channel is fab…ps…how is josh?
He is on soon
