People should remember the great sacrifice that people in this country has made for the freedom that we have tell Smith tells it all in this song thank God for the people that have gave their all
As a retired Navy veteran this song hits home!! the way our veterans past and present are treated is despicable!! The government does not give a damn about us!! We are fit to fight your wars but we don't deserve to be treated and paid fairly for our service!!
I know that was about Ira Hayes...He had a tragic life, considering he will be forever in the minds of anyone that saw that great picture from Iwo Jima.
I have literally tried to find this song for years. My father used to play this for me as a child. I can't find a recorded version anywhere. Thank you for posting this.
Vietnam how did the effects on everyone including me I'm only 32 but my dad was a product of Vietnam his father was fighting in Vietnam went insane abandoned my father when he was very young and unfortunately I'm now paying for some of that as well but thank you Uncle Sam.
My father was in the Marine Corps in WW2 in 3 major engagements. He told me that the Marines hated MacArthur to the point that they literally had an unspoken hit out on him because of the way that he treated the USMC. True story folks.
I seem to remember a song by Cal Smith about a girl named Faye. I think it was his. It's about a guy admitting some things to Faye and clearing the air. Anyone remember it? Can't seem to find it.
@@leewallace8087 I do know several. My brother - Marine, tunnel rat, sniper, 6 times stopped breathing on way to ship, almost did not make it, seems to have made it but then I look into his eyes and know he remembers the horror and I cry.
I served 16 months in Vietnam, door gunner on a chopper, we flew hunter killer team.found out at 19 what I was made of

@Frank Pierce. A $$$ worshiper enabled by the sacrifices of others. Do not think you would be able to compete with those making the sacrifices.
