What self respecting Australian said to do a Tim Tam Slam with cold milk and also forgets to explain why it's a slam. The whole point is to do it with a hot coffee or tea and as soon as the hot beverage gets to your mouth you Slam the Tim Tam in your mouth straight away, to stop it disintegrating into the drink, and the you enjoy the melted gooey chocolate delight.
Haha yeah we definitely given wrong information! We’ve now done it properly and can confirm it’s 100x better haha
Absolute blasphemy to try a microwave pie for your first aussie meat pie.
Where do we go?!
@@LeeandLoz Any bakery around will give you a fresh, hot pie. You can’t beat it. Microwaving a pie just ruins the pastry unfortunately.
Indeed!
And a Mrs macs. Concrete buckets stuffed with dog food. Yuk
@@solreaver83 bullshit
Vegemite on toast - lots of melted butter with a light scrap of vegemite
🧑🍳💋
tim tam slam has to be with warm milk or tea or coffee who told you cold milk is not austrtalian david
with vegemite you want lots of melted butter on your toast before spreading a thin layer on, as you adjust to it you can use more and also add cheese on top which gives it another dimension
If you find yourselves not wanting to eat your jar of vegemite a great way to use it is in cooking
A generous teaspoon will add lovely umami qualities and vitamins to your pastas, casseroles, marinades, soups, broths and stews
You can also add it to a little boiling water and treat it like soya sauce, but with a bit more 'grunt'.
Nothing beats a Pie from a bakery.
timtam slams are meant to be with warm coffee or tea so it melts the chocolate and biscuit inside
The drinking the milk thing is not primarily to drink the milk, it's once you get milk coming through you slam in in your mouth whole! I do it with penguins and tea
you need to butter your toast then a very small amount spread , tastes totally different
I usually add a decent amount of Vegemite, like a teaspoon. Especially when the butter is fully melted into the toast 😋
If you went to macca's for brekky, you could get a blister pack of vegemite, like tomato sauce size, so you wouldn't end up with a bottle if it's not for you. It's made from beer hops, left after making beer. Where was the butter? It helps to get it thin enough.
Thanks for the advice! That would’ve been better, and we were such novices we didn’t realise we needed butter 😂 we’ve since tried it with haha
Pods are made by the Mars company which is why they’re filled with Mars confectionary.
to get vegemite thin . you need a fair whack of butter . the dryer the toast . the more vegemite youll need to cover it .
Typically with ANZAC biscuits, we have them with hot coffee or tea and it goes so well
Sounds good!
Tim tam slam with cold milk 💀💀💀
Corrrrrr great video guys! ♥️♥️ Upset you didn’t like the Vegemite though it’s the best!!!! Can’t wait for you to host a party with the fairy bread 😍😍
Vegemite sandwiiiiich
Sounded like you didn't have any butter on the toast which would make it harder to spread.
Slam is better with hot coffee or tea so that the chocolate and caramel melt and mix with the beverage
Yes, Iced Vovos are definitely something you get at your Grandma’s house 😂
Knew it! And the Anzac biscuits?!
@@LeeandLoz Anzac biscuits are amazing
@@philly3457 me to! BTW I’m Aussie and I love Tim Tam.
A bit of butter wouldn't have gone astray on the toast.
We’ll try that next time! 😊
@@LeeandLozG'day, butter first, then a scrape of Vege. DO NOT have a pre conceived idea of the flavour. You may be very pleasantly surprized.
microwave pies are the worst pies.
Hey Scott, yeah we’ll definitely be trying a bakery pie soon!
@@LeeandLoz Have you been to Newtown yet. Go to Pie tin. Pretty good pies. Lots of restuarants, pubs, bars, cafes. There is also a brewery there.
It's Tomato sauce in Oz not Ketchup, and the best meat pie from the supermarket is Four n Twenty, yummm......
Lee and Loz .go to a bakery and try a pie so many varieties and also try a lamiton leaves store bought for dead
Hey Kim, yes we definitely will! If you have any recommendations of other flavours to try that would be great :)
@@LeeandLoz I really like curry beef pies steak and onion, peppered steak pies are popular beef burgundy also nice chicken pies If you like custard try the vanilla slices and custard tarts. They are all yummy.
Just watched this having breaky. ANZAC, the AC is for Army Corps not aircon lol. Made me chuckle.
You see lots of these in supermarkets in April before ANZAC day ( 25th April).
Try some chicken salt with fish en chips, it's heaven.
Safe travels!
Hey, haha glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the recommendations, we’ll definitely try. Looking forward to Anzac Day too!
You've got to do Vegimite with toast with a lot of butter and a small bit of Vegimite
Hi uncle Lee and auntie Laura lots of yummy food!!
Try pototo top unless you have those pies in UK
for the anzac biscuits micros wave them for 10 seconds
First mistake, Don’t ever judge a pie like you’ve judge that, never microwave a pie, it ruins the pastry, go to a cake shop and buy a hot oven pie and eat that or if you must, put in and air fryer to cook it. Fairy bread, usually for a kid’s birthday party. Way to much Vegemite, half that amount and more butter.you guys really stuffed up the timtam, use a hot cup of tea or coffee, not cold milk, then when it’s full of hot liquid shove the timtam in your mouth and eat it. Not the way you did it. Australia is the only country to call them lollies, cherry ripe is not a lollie, chuck it in the bin now. Snakes are pretty average things, spearmint leaves are much better.
you do a tim tam slam with hot liquid not cold
We've been misinformed Brett!! Will have to try again
@@LeeandLoz suck it up and when you feel the liquid go in you mouth eat it quick before it melts everywhere
Tip. 1.Mrs Mac chilli beef is the best servo pie U can get. 2. Heat Ur pie in the oven.
Sargent's pies are my favourite frozen pie 🥧
i feel like there should be some kind of instruction manual for people wanting to try australian snacks...eg. dont buy a microwave pie, vegemite needs to be on buttered toast and used very sparingly, anzac biscuits are better homemade, hot drink for a tim tam slam, etc
you 2 are the reason i dont tell ppl im from england lol
anzac biscuits are good dipped in cups of tea
You should do a video on maybe what your plans are for Oz. Where you are gunna go and all that! Would be great! Myself and 2 others coming over in June! Would be good inspiration:)
Thanks Jack! We will definitely do a video at some point discussing our plans for Oz :)
The whole idea is to use hot coffee or tea etc, make the Tim Tam soggy and SLAM it into your mouth.
Tim Tam Slam, the clue is in the name.
Wow, you guys really had no idea lol
Where’s the butter on the toast? You also used way too much, especially if you already know you hate Marmite. A glass of milk🥛 is a perfect drink for Vegemite.
You had “Birthday Toast” but just not on toast 😀
Making a batch of ANZAC biscuits leaves you with a terrible choice. Do you undercook them and get that soft, sweet taste, or do you overcook them and get SuperCrunch? They come out of rationing in WW1, when a lot of standards (like eggs) were in short supply. They also keep really well, so they'd be the well cooked variety and shipped over to the Australian troops fighting overseas.
The pie is so popular in Aus because it's a free-standing meal, not requiring plate, cutlary, etc. The pastry is purposely thick to do this. But I agree with @shauno7 that doing it in a microwave is blasphemy.
16:51 i lold. Great video surely do bush tucker next!
Snakes are DEAD Jack!
@@LeeandLoz no offence, but it’s kind of rude to snakes. I mean they are alive and the reason why it’s snakes. I’m pretty sure is because Australia has 20 of the dangerous snakes in the whole entire world and there’s 25, for example, a hoop snake so I’m just pointing out. I’m not trying to make a big fuss.
That pie is maybe a 3 compared to Anglesea bakery the best pies l give them a 10 ..Anglesea is small beach town in Victoria near the great Ocean Road .
The Tim Tams are MEANT to get soggy for a Tim Tam SLAM, you're MEANT to SLAM it in your mouth when its soggy.
If you go to Australia make sure to go to a café and try a proper meat pie way better then some trashy MaC pie XD
“Eww, they’ve gone all soggy”?. Um, excuse me? As an Aussie, I’m just a little offended! (Not really, but hey…). Tim Tam Slams are supposed to be soggy, that’s the whole point!
Haha the cold milk making it soggy wasn’t great. Now tried it with warm milk and it’s 100x better!
Thick butter and thin vegemite
you can put other things then tommy sauce on the pie. Gravy or BBQ sauce is ok as well.
Gravy is definitely our go to normally! 😊
Don't let them back into the country untill they enjoy Vegemite 😂
I'd give Mrs Macs a 3 or 4, they used to be better, but a few bakeries close by would be an 8 or 9.
Very fair! We have since had much better pies
if i gave anything a five out of ten . i wouldnt be going back for more lol .
Sort of found the guessing of what each letter meant in Anzac kind of disrespectful since its such a highly respected meaning here in Australia and it's a pretty mournful and sorrowful time of year when we remember our Anzacs
Hey Britt, we totally apologise for any offence we caused, we weren’t trying to be disrespectful at all, more make a joke about our lack of education on the topic, as we had only just got to Australia and had not even heard the word before. Since then we have been to ANZAC day, paid our respects and definitely more knowledgeable about the past. Apologies again.
iced vovos are anemic compared to how they used to be back in the old days. as are modern timtams, inflation ruins everything eventually
Vegemite with no butter????
grab n go type of food ? what else would it be ? its a meal in a take away casing . obviously its meant to be a on the go food lol . never seen anyone sell a pie with a knife n fork lol . its hand food .
Yeah mate, Pukka pies are really good. Try a decent pie next time.
Did you not put butter on the toast before putting on Vegemite? And you probably put on too much for your first try.
And bought ANZACs taste nothing like the ones we all make at home.
Eat a spoon full of Vegimite , get it in ya
And vitamin b = body can extract more power from food eaten
You are wimps when it comes to Vegemite, it is an acquired taste we Aussies have to it, but gee it tastes good on a piece of toast. The Tim Tam slam must be done with a hot drink like tea, it's the heat of the drink that makes the Tim Tam go gooey inside then you slam the biscuit in your mouth fast to get the full Tim Tam Slam experience.......
red ripper was once called a redskin bar but due to political correctness the name was changed so it wouldnt offend anybody
no one eats nuked pies lol yuk , buy a pie from brumbys yummo , tim tam slam hot coffee or tea only lol
Mrs Macs microwave pie. Straight from the freezer section. Nope. Not recommended unless its the only thkng you can fine and you have a hangover. We usually get them straight from a bakery or pie shop. And commercially made ANZAC biscuits are ok like any other oaty type biscuit. Home made are far better and theres a whole iconic history behind them. Supermarket version is a bit underwhelming. So are supermarket Lamingtons. Got to be home made. And Tim Tam slam has to be done with a hot drink or the tim tam doesnt melt which is the point. I feel the selection and consumption method was all wrong
fmd . pommie whingers . did they like anything ? lol
Deffo bring the shapes back with you, they look sooo good😁
They'll be the first thing in our case for you!!
pizza shapes are better then chicken
“Back in the UK”? Are you not there? Because if you were in Australia surely you’d buy a meat pie fresh from the bakery.
if your flap jacks . ie pancakes taste like anzac bikies . you best learn how to cook girlie lol .
Still too much Vegemite guys! Lots of butter and put a tiny amount of Vegemite on while the butter is still melting 💕
Thanks for the tip!
i knew he wouldnt like it . he had too much on his piece . she however lol had a perfect amount . thats the difference ..
hay nyou pommys have a freash pie not frozen fresh is best from a bakery or in our land its pies shop better than frozen thrust me david ive had frozen pies there shit freash is better come to australian for the best pies
Even less Vegemite guys more butter his was to much.
theres so many better snacks in australia, it always baffles me why people from overseas choose the most bland stuff to review ?
Dont bother with the iced vovos...they changed then quality...they are shit now
congratulations on annoying all Australians with rating cherry ripe at 5.75 enjoy England
ahhh cant watch any more lol , blasphemy lol
You didn't slam it...
Typical whinging poms…lol
Lost your damn minds! 😂😂😂. Who tf eats Vegemite like that?! Definitely notba single aussie!
5 seconds of google would have told you to smother the toast with butter and THEN a light, very light layer of vegemite.
You just offended 27million people by the way you ate that lol, not even the most obsessed vegemite eater would dare eat it the way you did 🤣.
Eating it right is the difference between incredibly delicious to rat poison.
Also, nobody eats mrs macs here lol, that's like going to Australia and ordering a fosters beer.
Wait, you mean people don’t drink fosters here?! Just kidding 🤣 we definitely did mess up on the Vegemite though.. after being told off so much we will defo have to try it again 😂
@@LeeandLoz yes,but with a twist.... Vegemite on hot buttered toast with a poached egg... Bloody beautiful 😋😋
*Then again 80 to 90% of Aussies grew up eating the stuff(Vegemite), from when we were toddlers.
