The red frogs are basically a charity group which started off by going to the end of school party areas. The volunteers would help people out if they got into trouble with alcohol etc and they also provide safe alcohol/drug free activities in these areas.
The red frog connection is that they started the conversations with the teenagers by offering them some Allen’s red frogs
Good old Schoolies
They now work in conjunction with green team and teen challenge.

Years ago they used to be sold separately, back when you could buy bags of mixed lollies. There were green frogs and red frogs.
Not sure if someone's already covered this but we say it as Tazzie, coz it's short for Tasmania (the little island at the bottom of Aus). Legend is such an aussie compliment ("You bloody legend!"). We've also been putting vegemite into baked goods like cheese bread scrolls which is like a fancier adult vegemite and cheese sandwich.

Monte Carlo and Kingston’s are the top tier cream bikkies made by Arnotts (ah-nets). You can also get a “family assorted” which has plain biscuits in it. The Murray River is the longest river in Australia and is the border between two states, I grew up on the Murray. Every Aussie kid grows up putting a cheezel on every finger and then eating them. Pineapple lumps are technically from NZ but we love them here too.

In Australian Cadbury chocolate, soy lecithin is added to make it melt less. This results in a slightly different flavour and texture - it's not as crisp of a snap when you bite it - the soy lecithin gives it a slightly softer texture, but it won't melt!

The main reason why Cadbury in Aus and the UK is different is because your chocolate would just melt down here, it’s too hot! So Aus Cadbury has extra preservatives in it that help it to withstand the temperature!

The Byron bay cookies are 100% a 20 out of 10! A few years ago they used to give you a Byron bay cookie for giving blood! It was the Red Cross’s main marketing ploy 😂
Aussie here, keep Bundaberg ginger beer in the fridge, brilliant hang over cure 😊 so refreshing, cheezels are delish and the vegemite shapes love them
Apricot Delights are the best. I used to love them as a kid and thought they were healthy, but now I realise the amount of sugar in them is ridiculous
Lol! I loved them too as a kid, and used to convince myself they were healthy 😅 I also loved that my school tuckshop sold them for 3 cents so even if you were broke, you could still buy something from the tuckshop and be like the other kids.

I was born in England and moved to Australia when I was eight. This reminds me of when I tried all the Australian food for the first time. Every Christmas we have the assorted creams while opening presents and we always eat the English food my grandma sends from England best of both countries in one day

Also: Bundaberg gingerbeer is made obviously in a place called Bundaberg. You can go to the factory and get a tour of how it is made and stored!!
It is mostly known best for Bundaberg Rum which is a extremely popular Alcohol here in Aus! 😊
Aliens and The Natural lollies used to be 10x better. They changed the way they made them.
The natural lollies never used to have that oily feels and the Aliens frogs used to be tough and much bigger!! They were so much better. You can only get those frogs in little lollie bags at small convince stores :(
Bundy rum also known for making people crazy. Had a friend who owned a bar, he refused to serve it after 10pm reckoned it just made people crazy and caused to many fights.
Yes! Bundy Rum is also known to make some people very aggressive! Its an interesting/crazy alcohol

Fun Fact: The Australian Health Stars are voluntary, meaning that a company can choose to display them on their packaging for marketing purposes. Therefore, if an item of food doesn't have one, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are 'less healthy' in comparison to other brands of the same category of product (e.g. cereal to cereal - health star ratings compare products within the same category, not overall healthiness) who choose to display the symbol. This is a common misconception, even in Aus. :)
The Australian Health Rating is also crooked. Nestle was somehow able to stick a 4.5 rating on Milo, which has more sugar than any other ingredient

Those smaller freddos are probably from a large share pack, that’s why they’re smaller. The individual freddos are much larger. We also have caramel koalas. My favourite bars are Cadbury marvellous creations. It’s a shame you didn’t get any of them.
Cadbury items in general have gotten smaller but still have the same price, old gold is the goat
Yes, my favourite chocolate Cadbury has ever made is still marvelous creation but I'm kinda sad that they don't make the marvelous creation Easter eggs anymore but i do still enjoy normal marvelous creation in a normal bar size. (My mouth is watering thinking of a marvelous creation haha)

Byron Bay Cookies used to be served on all Qantas flights. Monte Carlo's....nom nom nom... Tim Tams..the mango cream and white chocolate ones are great.. Pineapple Lumps are more a New Zealand thing..

Cherry Ripe, like so many other chocolate bars through our history, used to be made by MacRobertson’s, which was a family business based in Melbourne. Cadbury bought the business. Guilty! Our first time trying marmite and vegemite, we grabbed a spoonful and went all in, what a mistake! We learned after about putting it on toast with some butter and what a world of difference. A savoury treat! More of the Kate Show, encore!!! 😊

Arnotts cream collection has literally all the faves but shortbread creams and Monte Carlos are definitely some of the most popular (Kingston's are my preferred tbh because it is gingernut with chocolate)

My parents house is right near the Cadbury chocolate factory in Ringwood, sometimes when you drive past you can smell the warm fresh chocolate. Best smell ever!!
Very cool box, I have a good friend who lives in Australia, she visited here in California before the pandemic started, she had planned on bringing some Australian Treats, but when it came to packing for a 2 week trip, they were limited in space. I'll have to see if she wants to do a little friend box exchange. Thanks for sharing your tasting with us, they're always fun.

Cadbury used to do a bar called Cabana years ago, it was pink coconut with cherry pieces. Looks like Cherry Ripe is the Australian version of that. It was delicious!

Australia isn’t all that much smaller than Canada. Around 2/3-3/4 of the size.

Cherry Ripe, my favourite, was not a Cadbury invention at all. It was made by a rival Australian chocolatier named MacRobertson’s and first appeared in 1924. They were founded in Melbourne in 1880 and was taken over by Cadbury in 1969 after the death of Sir Macpherson Robertson in 1967. Cherry Ripe still carried the MacRobertson’s name until around 1980 before being branded Cadbury. Since then, they have shrunk in size but they are also now available in dark chocolate and double choc coating. Btw, the Bundaberg Ginger Beer? You’re meant to gently flip shake it to mix the sediment back through. The taste is stronger then. But beware opening.😁
You cleared.up, too, why Cadbury US is so off tasting. If it’s made in the Hersheys factory, that explains it. Hersheys is my vote for the most disgusting Western chocolate. Some items are available here but not big sellers. I’ve had it in Canada, too. No better. Won’t touch anything with it in. It reminds me of chocolate immediately post Communist era in Hungary. 🤢

I'm American, but can't stand about 99% of chocolate made here. I've got a European food store close to my work and I am now spoiled on Tim Tams, Walkers Wotsits, etc.
When I was visiting Ireland I had a Fox’s Ginger cream, which I just loved! Wish I could get them in the US as it would be my favorite cookie!

I'm British but I've been living in Tasmania, Australia for 16yrs. The chocolate here in Aus tastes different because sugar cane is used in Australia as its less likely to melt and sugar beet in UK :)
Actually soy lecithin is added to chocolate in Australia to stop it from melting not sugarcane! Sugar itself is processed from sugarcane.
Australian choc has caking agent in it to prevent it melting, apparently, which modifies the taste!

I'd never tried Wimmers before moving up to Queensland since it's a local drink from Noosa. All of their stuff is delicious but I heartily recommend the Creaming Soda and the Portello flavours.
Bundaberg is everywhere in Australia but it's still delicious. I love the spiced Ginger Beer that they bring out at Christmas time.

Aussie here, I’m definitely not a fan of bundi ginger beer but I do love the bundi creaming soda! It’s amazing! Also massive vegemite fan I used to eat it from the jar as a kid 😂 I’ve never had vegemite nuts and didn’t even know it was a thing, but also never seen that raspberry lemonade ever! Also Allens are my favourite lollies ever
