The toucan became iconic for Guinness in the 1930s and 40s, thanks to a marketing campaign by artist John Gilroy. Guinness wanted to create memorable advertisements, so they used various animals, each symbolizing Guinness in a playful way. The toucan became particularly popular because of its bright colors and striking look. It was often shown balancing a pint of Guinness on its beak, with slogans like “Lovely day for a Guinness.” The idea was to link Guinness with positive, uplifting images, and the toucan, with its exotic flair, captured people’s attention. The toucan stayed a symbol for decades and is still associated with Guinness, even if it’s no longer in their main ads!
As soon as you see the sign for The Temple Bar. Anyone living in or who has visited the area, knows. You are paying an arm & a leg for a pint. Also, travel tip. From the airport, get the bus direct to the centre of Dublin. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Great vid by the way. 👏👏👏👏
Yes, Lee.the bus is about 3/4 Euro, and there's about 5 bus's to choose from, there is other ones more direct that don't stop until the city centre there a tad more expensive do. And the bus back is a five minute walk down the tram line from where you stayed pal
We were in Dublin in March, most places are €7-8 a pint but there are 3 Wetherspoons which are cheaper. Accommodation is rip off though but seems to be the same across Ireland as we were in Cork last year and the room and drinks prices were similar to Dublin.
Jeeeeezzzzzz Lee, Dublin is a very pricey place!!!! I've never been to Dublin and tbh at those price's for a drink, I'll definitely be giving it a swerve, plus way to busy for my liking 😮....Gimme Benidorm any day of the week!!!!😂 Neil is so hilarious, missing Carl. Didn't he want to get involved 🤣 fab video Lee, as always xx
Lee, if you lads walked 15 minutes in any direction, you would have got pints and copperberg f0r E5:50 upwards that's average outside the main centre, but as its you're first time you have to stay in the main centre pal
About 35 years ago, I used to go to Ireland on fishing adventures but every night we all went out for a pint of Guinness, we used to drink roughly About 8 to 10 pints each then go on the powers whiskey and was never ill or rough the next day I think it was something in the air or the food 👌
Another cracking video lads. Next time go to the Boars head on Capel street great pub. Every pub in Temple bar is dear for pints no getting away from it unfortunately unless you hit the suburbs and it's not as cheap as it use to be in those places either
Capel St is the street you were standing on when you said you got lost, and the tram line runs straight past it, so 3 minutes walk from you're accommodation but the opposite direction from the direction of the bus back to the airport, and go about another 5 minutes walk on the tram line and up a lane way and you woukd have been in the OLD JAMESON DISTILLERY, AND ANOTHER 5 MINUTE WALK UP THE TRAM TRACKS OR CROSS THE RIVER LIFFEY AND WALK UP YOU WHERE IN THE GUINESS BREWERY AND YOU CAN GO DO THE TOUR AND LEARN TO PULL A PINT AND ALL THAT, don't no if you are allowed film in jameson or guiness but be great 2 go and see pal
Good video if a little loud to watch but it is what it is. I first went to Dublin in the pre euro days and thought it was expensive. Then I went when they got the euro and thought prices had gone up . That was 25 years ago. You must have spent some cash mate.
That is the Spire of Dublin. It is around 394 feet tall. A statue of British Admiral Horatio Nelson stood there until 1966 when the IRA partially blew it up (who saw it as a lingering symbol of British rule over Ireland and it was also the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising) and it was demolished. It stood mainly vacant until the Spire was built in early 2000's.
@@Yorkshire_Lee No worries. It's an ugly thing in my opinion! I am from the south of Ireland. I don't go near Dublin. The prices are awful. Much cheaper down here. Great video Lee, keep them coming! Thanks.

It depends on where you go. Tourist traps (aka Temple Bar) are a rip off anywhere you go in the world. You can get a pint of Guinness for 5 euro ish in a five minute walk from Temple Bar.
