  • A road-trip along the last 84 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee to Asheville, NC. Beautiful scenery and pleasant driving along a part of America's longest linear park.
For this video I did something different than usual. My wife and I drove the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway (#blueridgeparkway). We started at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Cherokee, North Carolina and took the scenic route to Asheville. The weather was part sunny and part raining which made for dramatic views. There was very little traffic and way to many overlooks and viewpoints to stop at them all! I highly recommend driving this route to anyone who is looking for and endless stream of pleasant driving and beautiful views.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is noted for its scenic beauty, and is America's longest linear park. At 469 miles long, it links together the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We drove only a small portion of its length south of Asheville, but had an amazing trip.

Water Rock Knob had no visitors' center and was unpaved when she kissed me and said, "You're mine". Sixty odd years later I had to lay her to her rest. It had to be on Water Rock Knob where her ashes would rest. Wonderful mountain girl, marvelous wife, fantastic mother then grandmother. Good grief, what I wouldn't give to see her again, say and do all the things I did not say and do while she was here. Her mountains pull hard at my heart.

My father and I have riden the parkway end to end twice on motorcycles, and I've always thought the stretch between Asheville and Cherokee is the nicest section.

This is a great video! Thank you for sharing! My wife and I are planning to do the same BRP route in our next trip to Asheville, NC. Did you find any segments of the road to be unsafe or scary? Anything of concern or tips you can think of? It all looks very pretty and relaxing in the video. Thank you. 🙂

I enjoyed your video. Thank you for being able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and drive. I have a question. How did the camera take the front and then the right? Did your wife turn by hand? So how did you fix the camera to the car before that?

About how long did it take you to drive it with your stops? I'm trying to figure out a day trip from Pigeon Forge TN to Cherokee on to Ashville and then back to Pigeon Forge.
