The eagles are generally kept like that when they've been injured and have no hope of survival in the wild. It's hard but they get to live.
Super travel video
Classy lady !!
Stay safe...
Thanks!!!
I used to live in Asheville in the 1980s and road the parkway and surrounding area many times. It continues to be one of my favorite areas with endless mountain roads and beautiful vistas. The eagles at Grandfather mountain are probably injured rescues, otherwise I think that wouldn’t be legal.
I live in Athens Ga. and have ridden the Parkway a few times. I love the section from Cherokee to Ashville the best.
Into those deep and dark mountains, I went more than 60+ years ago.She lived on a mountain and a graduate of a tiny school deep in the Smokys of NC. We courted high in those mountains of hers. Married for 60+ years were we. She was wonderful. The mountains were her. She knew those mountains and was part of them. A pure mountain girl of those mountains that were wild and almost impenetrable. What a wonderful wife. Mother. Grandmother. Author. Business owner. My delight.
Then came the day I had to lay her to her rest. What a loss. Everyone is amazed by those mountains. She knew them in a very personal way. She danced. A competition thing for her tiny school. Clogging. A mountain thing. Good grief, I miss her after 60 + years with her. Those mountains are her.
You made me sad. Great post about your wife! Thank you Sir!
A towel on your bike seat is really thoughtful!
Such a beautiful place.
Someday...
Yes isn’t it nice???? Never have seen that anywhere else. 😍
Thank you for your video. 😊😊
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for showcasing my home state, North Carolina.
It is stunningly beautiful.
After living in Texas for over fifty years, it’s sometimes uncomfortable to visit N.C. again.
After the far vistas and horizons of Texas, the closeness of all those mountains and large trees give me claustrophobia.
Wishing you well on your journey.
Interesting - but I actually hear that from many friends too who don’t like the mountains at all!
THANK YOU for showing me where I very much plan to travel this summer !!!!!
Wow, simply wow!! Thank you Leah!! 👍👍
Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Thank you so much!
And exelent musik chois.
I'm so glad you got to ride the BRP! I will say that the parkway from Cherokee to Asheville is the prettiest part of it. However, little Switzerland is amazing, I'm glad you got to see that. I really enjoy your videos and watching your journey. If you ever go through Alabama, stop at the Barbers Vintage Motorcycle Museum in Leeds, Alabama. It is a world class place. We'll be happy to take you there, show you around, and show you some good roads near us. Safe travels!
So nice to find your channel on a Monday morning, you just visited two of our favorite places, the Outer Banks and Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. Both are great places to see and do things, as well as just relax and enjoy the outdoors. Glad you enjoyed your trip.
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin′ like a breeze.
country roads ,take me home.....................................................
Das darfst du dann übernächste Woche nochmal singen - dann sind wir nämlich wirklich in West Virginia! 😂
Das werde ich zu 100% auch tun 🤗
Funny fact The Shenandoah river is not in west Virginia...just Virgina.
Oh yes, this is motorcycle paradise and your the angel that is our guide trough this amazing parkway.
Thank you for this lovely comment! 😊
I live in Carolina for more than 30 years and certainly appreciate the beauty of parkway. However, I could not agree with the subtitle saying it is the best drive in America. It is one of All American Roads and certainly deserves the classification. I can easily name more than five All American Roads that are better drive than Blue Ridge Parkway.
I agree - but that’s what it is named in many descriptions, so I probably should have added a ? In the end.
Not surprised you have a knack for finding the most beautiful places given you are from Switzerland. Also chances are those eagles are rescues, likely have a bum wing that did not heal properly from an accient. That's how it usually works with zoos these days.
Yes, I know that this is how it is, and I wrote and answer already to this on another post that I will just copy paste:
As much as I wish this is not true (that’s the case with many animal shelters, that’s why I am very sceptical about them in general), because cougars don’t even live on grandfather mountain anymore in the wild. So where they gonna release them to and how they gonna make them ready for the life outside the shelter if grandfather mountain is not their real territory anymore where they can find other cougars to mate? I know that the people at the shelters want the best for the animals and take really good care about them, but in my opinion it is often worse to cage wild animals than maybe just let them die naturally. Visiting this and seeming to be an expert in this you probably as well know that many of the rescued and once caged animals can never be released to the wild again, because they got too used to the life inside the cage and would immediately be killed if released or simply couldn’t survive alone anymore. I have visited a lot of animal shelters in the beginning of my journeys and therefore talked to a lot of people working there, and after this my opinion is that it would rather be better to not take away so much of the animals wild living space and territory and just leave them alone, than „saving“ them and putting them in shelters. It’s just my opinion and you can have a different one, I respect that a lot and as well respect the people working there and fighting for the animals a lot. But I still don’t want to support it and show animals like bears here on my channel caged. These wild creatures becoming a spectacle for hundreds of visitors a day who get way to close to them is just nothing that feels good to me, no matter how noble the motives are.
Good job! That is a great trip for sure. Glad you are meeting good people along your journey! Most people are good, be safe.
I find solo motorcyclists to be very interesting. More introspective than most as I am one myself and enjoy the solitude as much as the ride. Be safe.
wow love your tur i miss you nice tur
Thank you!
Wow that's awesome scenery good job onthe filming
Thank you!
Stunning video!!!! Lea 🔝🔝🔝
blue ridge is perfect I've done it several times
So beautiful! I have to come back to the blue ridge parkway at one point in fall!
I love mountains too. Maybe because I live in a land that is quite flat except the southeast region which is hilly. These are the foothills of the Eifel mountains. I was born in that region.
I visited the Alps in Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Germany. And other mountainous regions in Europe. Al with a car, I didn’t havezaten motorcycle license then. I was there for hiking and taking pictures
Beautiful motorcycle road and region. Just ride, take turn after turn and be one with the bike.
Very beautiful drone footage of the mountains with the mist in between.
Walking in motorcycle gear is like exercising in a sauna. It’s easier in special summer gear but it’s still quite warm.
It really always is a little pain in the ass - for me I think walking in the stiff boots is the worst! 😅
Very beautiful area. But it all is around here. Thanks for the video.
It really is a stunning place!‘
Another great video and ride thanks for sharing
Thank you for coming along!
Great video, thanks a lot and i'm looking forward to your next 🤩!
Thank you for coming along like always! 💃🏻😍
Hey Lea. Nice video fantastic picturs from the Droone. I do agree with you about the animal park... Thanks for shering.
Thank you for coming along!

Hallo Lea, die Küste war ja schon klasse, aber die Berge sind ein echtes Highlight 😃😃😃!
Danke, dass du mich mitgenommen hast.

Finde ich auch! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Spectacular, awesome and amazing ❤
Thank you so much!
Another beautiful video, we all appreciate the hard work you have done to make them for us x Stay safe.
Thank you so much for
That lovely comment!
😍😍😍
💃🏻
Great video thank you very well done just got back from riding the smokey mountain 500 the back of the dragon. Was known as sweet 16 .thanks again cheers to ya.
The Smokey mountain 500 is still on my list!!!!
Lea, Many of the animals you see caged nowadays cannot be re-released into the wild for a variety of reasons, so don't feel too bad about their situation. Enjoying your trip along the Blueridge including the diversions. There are many of these ridge-type byways all over the USA, including the Kancamagus Highway, The Natchez Trace, Etc. Also the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. One could plan a trip linking all these wonderful Bi-Ways, then just put your Nose2wind and Go!
That’s for sure good ones - actuallly did some of them like the Cabot trail on my worldtrip - but that was long before I published regular videos on UA-cam!
Beautiful video!!! Love the commentary!
Thank you
Your drone footage is truly amazing! I must agree, the mountains bring on a sense of peacefulness and tranquility. Thanks for sharing.
Mountains are always the best to me! 😍
@@Got2Go di negara saya semua itu ada 😁
I couldn't agree more about your insights with this amazing road! I was lucky enough to ride the complete parkway in 2000 and then lucky again to live within 10 miles of it in Lexington, VA., from 2013-2016. I wish you would have completed the entire parkway this time, but I can understand wanting to see something a bit different as well, so I look forward to the next episode!!
Lea, You did a great job documenting the Blue Ridge parkway. Your video was stunning! Ive ridden it multiple times and I can't wait to go back again. Thanks so much for the great videos!
I want to go back there too! It’s so nice!!!
Yes what beautiful views. Having grown up in Montana I agree with you about liking the mountains better than the beach. Thank for bringing us viewers along on this journey.
Thank you for joining the ride again!!!
Amazing and awesome. Another great episode, many thanks.
Thank you for joining!
Love your Unc chapel hill hat
Thanks..great video presentation👍
Thank you for joining!‘
When I was a small boy as a family we moved to Tanganyika (or Tanzania) as it’s called now. One of my best memories was our adventure safaris to the massive game parks with free roaming thousands upon thousands of every wild animal you can imagine, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wilder beast, numerous types of antelopes, and of course lions by the dozens in many packs, baboons, hyenas, hippos and crocodiles and huge herds of elephant, too many animals to count or numerate, but ever since this time I find it impossible to visit zoos and see animals caged up, I am totally in sympathy with your similar feelings about caged animals.😢
I agree. We have toured Tanzania and Kenya. It is difficult to visit a zoo now.
While I am in agreement with you concerning zoos, those at Grandfather mountain are rehabs that have been injured or otherwise unable to live in the wild. There are signs there stating this.Grandfather has done incredible work rehabing and educating the public in wildlife conservation and I'm disappointed that you gave them a bad rap.
Close to my home.
😎👍
Lucky you!!!
A Really wonderous area - I could live there. (So much better than Oman 😜
Noooo, I don’t think it’s better than Oman! Oman was soooo stunning! 😂
My wife and I rode the BRP from VA to Asheville last year. We planned to go back and ride 226a out of little Switzerland this year but a family member sickness has delayed that so maybe spring or summer next year. The animals at grandfather mountain were likely injured which is why they were there. Most rehabilitated animals are released back into the wild.
That’s an awesome route, i hope you can do it in 2023.
I already wrote a comment regarding the animal shelter, so I will just copy paste it here, so i don’t have to write the same again 😊:
As much as I wish this is not true (that’s the case with many animal shelters, that’s why I am very sceptical about them in general), because cougars don’t even live on grandfather mountain anymore in the wild. Absolutely stunning video Lea.
Thank you ⭐
Thank you for joining!
Loved seeing you riding some of my favorite roads in my area of the Carolinas.
Blue ridge is really so nice!
The ocean is great too!!!
Ok 👌👍 Lea
I feel 😭 that in Switzerland you only have mountains but enjoying the snow Lea
Pleasantly surprised by such beautiful landscapes, I would like to go!
Blue ridge parkway is really something else!
"Tar Heels" When I do this for myself, I'll eat a meal mostly only in the evening so I can make the most of every day.
Not much different from my daily routine now.
The trick was to be out off Little Switzerland before they saw your passport ad started taxing you, right? 😳🥳
A bloody beautiful region indeed! 🤗
😂😂😂😂 exactly how it was!!!
really adventure wonderful, beautiful places, the drone shots were very wonderful , The heights offer wonderful and amazing views always. Thank you Lea 👌
Thank you so much! 🤗
Now you have a new paetreon. Thank you for taking us with you on your travels
Thank you for the support, that is awesome!!!
Lea, what a nice episode.
It reminds me to the „real“ alps.
You gave me, with this great footage, a fine sunday. Thank you. CU next thursday 😊
Wow! Amazing views. Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of two separate trips I made to the Blue ridge parkway; one in 1992 with my wife and our new Honda Civic Si and another trip camping in the park with our two children. I remember an encounter with a deer over breakfast with my daughter.
This is where I live and ride! So glad you enjoyed your visit. Great video!
Lucky you, awesome area!!!
I really enjoyed this I will be riding a part of the Blue Ridge Parkway next week.
Thanks Lea. Very well done. I would love to ride that in the fall! The drone shots were amazing! Nicely done!
Me too! It must be amazing in fall!!!
I have got to tell you, I rode the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY for five days in the rain and I loved almost every minute of that ride. The one thing you better be prepared for is gas. There are no gas stations on the Parkway. If you have a small tank better carry a little gas with you.
So, yes, the BRP is very scenic. But there is NOTHING there. No shops, no restaurants, no people, and it gets old VERY quickly. My experience is that I got my fill in about 45 minutes. PLUS, the speed limit is 45 mph as I recall and it's STRICTLY enforced. Btw, watching on Sony X95J 4K 65 inch T.V in vivid video setting is STUNNING. With Sony sound bar and Bluetooth sub woofer.
Hi Lea, enjoyed the blue ridge parkway, it's very special, indeed almost spiritual with the mountainous deciduous forests, especially when you can wind your way through on such stunning curvy roads. Motorcycling heaven. Thank you.
Yes, and I was so lucky with the weather too! 😍😍
Great video Lea! We enjoy your commentary...
Thank you so much!
I also like your motorcycle choice.😀
Love the video, been to the Blue Ridge several times and we always stop at Christa's, great food!
It is so green and beautiful !A stunning video and again excellent drone shots !I loved it and thank you Lea🙏
The caged animals make me so sad 😭
A lots of love ❤️ ❤
I hope, One day I will meet you on my bike ❤️❤️
these mountains are really very attractive and the way you presented them increased there beauti... as always its a fantastic video.... thanks..... beautiful lea...
Thank you for this lovely comment!
The Blue Ridge is One Of the Best Roads In America To Ride.
Definitly a favorite of everyone! I really want to come back in fall one day!
Enjoyed this video since I and a friend have been visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway yearly for the last 14 years. Alpine is the place we always stay the owners when you visited have recently sold to new owners. The towels was always one of the many ways they made us feel special.
Travel safe and can't wait till your next video.
Oh no, I hope the new owner are as nice as the old ones and keep the towel traditon alive!!!
Nice video thanks for coming and sharing your adventure. Live in missouri and it's great but dont have much time to see my own country.
Absolutely stunning video. Well done!! Your drone skills and editing is amazing. Stay safe.
Wow!! Stunning views and scenery. Its soooo green! (Compared to where I live in the desert). What an amazing trip! That was really cool about the towels. Ride Safe!
Yes, wasn’t that nice of the owner of the hotel? So cool!!!
Glad you made it to my neighborhood the blue ridge mountains of north west Carolina.
You are lucky to have this place in your neighborhood!!!
@@Got2Go you have got to come back in fall it's a must see beauty
Blue ridge parkway ,woooow , that i would have liked to do.
Majestic , fantastic drone work!
Nice , your white hat
Blue ridge parkway is the best!
I have stayed at the Alpine Inn, nice people there.
Thank you Lea... this a very unique Episode 👌🏻...keep it up
Thank you for watching!
I just came back from a second Skyline-Blue Ridge road trip. first one I did during the summer many years ago and finally completed mid October trip when the leave colors change and far less crowd to enjoy the road. I didn't all they way to Smokey where it end but instead wrapped up at the Tail of Dragon. looks like 'Got2Go' started from the middle Blue Ridge from Ashville to west. starting from Skyline Drive North Entrance [105 mi] in Virginia connecting to Blue Ridge Parkway [469 mi] is a must do road trip for sure. not sure if OP has done the NorthWest [WA, OR, MT] trip? totally a new experience and little more "home" for the OP and absolutely different from Blue Ridge Mtn experience. another nice road bike trip is from update state NY to Nova Scotia [summer time]. one more must do road trip is from Washington State to South California [route 101 and 1]. absolutely adore how much OP is enjoying the trips all over the world.
At 1:25 you passed right by me. I live in Apex, North Carolina. I sure plan on driving the Blue Ridge one day. Looks fun. definitely will visit Little Switzerland.
The part of the Blue Ridge I rode on, was the Virginia side, loved every bit of it. And yes, it’s definitely beautiful in the fall/autumn when the leaves change colors. 🍁 That cinnamon roll looked delicious. Thanks for posting your video. 🙏🏻😘✌️
Thank you for joining the ride - I am happy to hear that the virgina part is as awesome!
Awesome road Lea love the video and such a great ride in the mountains I feel the same way. Really love mountains more now I have a motorcycle love the enthusiasm and so much I actually suggested one of your videos in my video while riding in the mountains in Italy. Looking forward to the next one.
Aww that is super nice! Thank you so much!!!
@@Got2Go your welcome I love you content
So glad you got to the BRP. Living in Virginia a few miles from milepost zero at the northern terminus I have visited and ridden on the BRP for close to 70 years. So glad you loved it. I would say that in all likelihood the eagles you saw could not survive in the wild because they had been injured and are best cared for in the park. Looking forward to your report on the rest of the Blue Ridge Mountains
Thank you so much, looking forward that you will travel further with me for the next videos!!!
much luv.
✌😘
bigf00t country!
😉
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Great video. I have ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway twice as it's just four hours from where I live. This video makes me want to do it again next year.
You should! I want to come back too to ride it in Fall at one point 😍🤗🤗
So sorry you missed Savannah. I have traveled all over the USA several times and it is my favorite city. The parks are unparalleled.
Then I really have to go next time! But it was just to rainy that day. You will see, I make a lot of decisions in this riding season that are depending on the weather.
Hi Got to Go...just watched your Blue Ridge Parkway video. A great little travel documentary along this stunning National treasure. I have driven the parkway 4 times and love the drive. Also liked your little insight into Chaple Hill, again I have been there and have a friend who did part of her degree there in the 80s. I plan to hire a Harley Davidson bagger in a couple of years and ride the parkway from Ashville to visit a friend in Shepherds Town, West Virginia. Really looking forward to that trip. Keep up the great travel videos.....Kind regards Steve 👍
Lea,your Leaving the park has increased my love and respcet for you as a VEGAN.🥰😍👋👋👍🏻👍🏻👏👏
Thank you! But the park has actually good motives, it’s often rescued Animals that are injured that end up there. I still don’t want to support wild animals being caged, it just feels wrong to me.
@@Got2Go Good morning Lea,
If they treat And release them back to nature,I applaud them....but if they hide them in cases, it’s a betrayal of nature.
The Switzerland Inn is nice. The restaurant is good. I will have to try the Alpine Inn.
The alpine inn doesn’t have a real restaurant, so the Switzerland inn is for sure more „proper“. But i really liked the low key alpine inn and would choose it again and again!
@@Got2Go it looks like a really scenic place to stay. The Switzerland Inn is fairly expensive, but it does have a bar and restaurant.
A beautiful video. We have driven the Blue Ridge parkway and it is stunning. I take it that you did not visit the Biltmore when in Ashville. A very unique place.
Love your accent! Great videos!
Another WOW video, congrats, out all the pictures from that university my heart stays with the Squirrel one, for me is the same Lea; that's why I don't visit Zoos and regarding Beach or mountain, I would love to live in Grandfather Mountain with a horse named Macho and a dog name blue, near the lake so i can fish. 💐
Wow you already have a very detailed vision of how your life in the blue ridge mountains would be! So nice!
Cool video I would love to motorcycle in Switzerland one day
Hola Lea. Que buen video.! Exelente. Me gusta mucho saber que siempre leés los comentarios. Tus filmaciones son muy buenas. USA es maravillosa. Abrazo Argentino.
