Coming from someone who both read the book and watched the movie multiple times, Leslie didn't die until close to the end of the movie; after which event Jess builds a bridge to ensure his sister's safety to terabithia.
She’s dies closer to the end but still in the second act. I’d say the 3rd quarter of the 2nd act and 3 quarters in the third act is when Jess is going through the 5 stages of grief.

Bridge to terabithia was actually based on the story of Kathrine Paterson's son and his childhood friend. In real life she was struck by lightning in a beach and killed instantly. We are also told leslie died 1 hour and 10 minutes in, so she died at the end. The rest if the movie was (which was at least 20 minutes) was Jesse actually building a bridge to Terabithia and bringing May Bell there. This movie has got to be one of my favorite movies and I always end up bawling my eyes out😭 Edit: Leslie was also the one who made Terabithia.
