Hugh Jackman, being such a nice guy, felt bad about some of the things he had to say to Daphne/Laura in the scene where he discovers she can talk, and apologised to her mother. who replied, "That's okay, she just called you a c__t three times in Spanish.''

The adamantium wasn't the only thing hurting Logan, for years he had also been consuming food and water that had something that suppressed the mutant x gene. This is also a part of why there haven't been any new mutants.

It may also have contributed to Charles's illness and if you listen closely to Charles when he's talking to weapon 24 thinking it's Logan he remembers what happened to the X men. He had a seizure and killed them all. That's why Logan refused to tell Charles what happened to protect him from the guilt and pain. The doctor essentially exterminated the X men so when he revealed that during his villain monologue Logan shooting him in the throat is a perfectly understandable response.

it's not "a part of why", it's explicitly stated to be the exact reason there are no more mutants being born

Wait, what? It's the adamantium that is poisoning Logan - his healing factor is the only reason he was able to survive the process of it being implanted into him. There is no "food or water" that he's eaten over the year that is suppressing his mutant gene - he's just getting old.

    • @LudusAurea

Yea I believe that in this storyline the government intentionally laced the water supply to prevent mutants from happening.

    • @jhornacek

@@LudusAurea Yes, that is what Rictor tells Logan about why there have been no new mutants. But there's nothing saying this is why Logan's mutant powers are diminishing. He's just getting older. And his healing factor would counteract this.
In the comics the Old Man Logan story (which this is based on) has Logan as an old man whose mutant powers have gotten weaker over the years because he's getting older.

As the badguy doc mentioned near the end, the reason Logan was actually dying was because they were lacing food and drinks with mutation suppressing agents. His regeneration was being suppressed over time. Tho yes adamantium was always poisoning him his regeneration didn't have any problems with it. That's also why there were no new mutants born.
Laura/X-23s adamantium poisoning wouldn't also be as severe since it only covers her claws.

Logan had many kids. Most of them were gathered by his eldest son Dakken and given to people who hated Wolverine, trained to kill and sent after him so he would hill them and THEN they let him know he was their father and the organization members committed suicide so he could not exact revenge upon them for it. He himself buried the kids next to their mothers. And recently the comics act like Dakken is a good guy, with Laura even being on good terms with him because current day writers have no idea what morality and continuity means.

13:35 X-23 was originally created as a character for the animated TV show "X-Men Evolution" where she was created by Hydra using a partially degraded sample of Wolverine's DNA. The Y chromosome was degraded, so the geneticists decided to replace it with an X chromosome after 22 failed attempts using a replacement Y chromosome. She was the 23rd test to be successful, which is how she got her name/designation (Weapon X and the 23rd test).

This story is loosely based on Old Man Logan by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. It’s set in an alternate reality where evil triumphed, thanks to supervillains uniting under the Red Skull and forming an army to defeat the heroes. The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four fell during these attacks, leaving only a few survivors.
The saddest part of this story is how the X-Men were defeated: by Wolverine himself. Logan was tricked by Mysterio into believing that the school was under attack by villains. In a desperate attempt to protect the mutant children, Logan cut them down, only to have the illusion break when a villain in his arms says, "Logan, stop! Please... Why are you doing this? You're supposed to be our friend..." It’s revealed to be the young Jubilee, who looks up to Logan as a mentor. This moment is extremely emotional, especially when Logan looks around to find the X-Men butchered around him. From that day forward, he promises never to unleash his claws again.
America is then renamed "Amerika" and divided into several territories ruled by a lieutenant of the Red Skull. The comic takes place several decades after the fall of the heroes, following an older Logan on his California farm, where he’s raised a family with two young kids and a loving wife. But there’s a problem: Logan lives in the territory of Hulkland, overseen by the Hulk Gang, the inbred family of Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, who ride around in the Fantastic Car of the Fantastic Four. They demand Logan pay to live on their land, and one day, he comes home to find his family murdered by the Hulk Gang.
Logan then embarks on a mission across Amerika to deliver a package, accompanied by a now-blind Hawkeye. This journey takes him across the country, where he encounters various Marvel characters. Eventually, Logan kills the Red Skull, then returns to the West to exact his revenge on the Hulk Gang, killing all its members, including Bruce Banner, in a final showdown. Given that Wolverine made his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #180 (1974), it’s a fitting end for the Hulk. In the end, Logan finds a baby Hulk and decides to raise him as one of his own, riding off into the sunset with Baby Hulk on his back.
Old Man Logan reappeared during Secret Wars (2015) after the Multiverse was destroyed and then reconstructed by Doctor Doom as Battleworld. This planet was made up of elements from different universes, with each region representing a slice of a universe divided by massive walls. One notable example is New York from the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610), where Old Man Logan visits and meets the Ultimate X-Men. There, he learns that their Wolverine died, but his son, Jimmy Hudson, survived and became the new Wolverine.
After the Multiverse was reborn, surviving members from the old worlds came to Earth-616, the mainline Marvel Universe, with Old Man Logan being one of these survivors. I can't recall if he returned to his own reality afterwards but he spent some in the mainline universe. Miles Morales is also one of these other survivors originally from the Ultimate Universe.

Beyond that, to answer why Wolverine sleeps, regardless of comics or not, is there's no reason for him not to as far as we aware.

Also, she knows when someone dies, not just the circumstances, and this happens decades after. Laura's also not japanese, Logan was a loner when she met him, so it'd be weird for him to run into a non-japanese girl in japan that he knows and has a very personal relationship with, and is somehow involved in some way with all that stuff going on.

People tend to over exaggerate healing. Yeah, the comics have done some INSANE stuff with healing, but generally it's portrayed more "realistically".
Like, healing doesn't mean you're immortal. Put someone at the bottom of a river, they still need air (they could last longer than a normal person, but they'd eventually run out). They still need food. Something needs to power that healing. Your body still needs to be able to function for the healing to work.

In the comics Laura is 'X23' not because she is 'Weapon XXIII' the way Wolverine is 'Weapon X' but because she was the 23rd attempt to clone Wolverine (all the others having died before birth). It turns out the trick was to create a female clone, rather than a male one. There was no X24. Laura made sure of that when SHE killed everyone involved creating her.
Subsequently another group has cloned HER and one of these clones (who has become something of a little sister to Laura) is named 'Gabrielle' (the name of the nurse in the 'Logan' movie.)
Charles Xavier has died, at least once, in the comics. Of course, as a major comic book character, he doesn't stay dead so there isn't any one 'canon death' for him. Interestingly during one time Xavier was dead, Wolverine took up being Head Master of a school for mutants (which he named after Jean Grey, because of course he did).

@@Eidlonesit does that by suppressing the mutant gene which makes their abilities weaker. Wolverine would generally be fine, but he has to consume a lot of foods for his metabolism that are rich in the chemicals. It also doesn't help that he feels like he has no reason to live and consumes alcohol constantly which contains the same suppressants. This weakens his healing which in turn allows the adamantium to poison his body without resistance. Essentially wolverine is slowly killing himself due to depression. No doubt after he was on the boat with Charles, Charles would eventually die and Logan was going to use that adamantium bullet afterwards.

Yes. The adamantium is killing him. But without the suppressants, it wouldn't have for a very long time. The mutant suppressant is constantly ravaging his body and nullifying his healing. Allowing the poison to thrive. One causes the other, so one is not solely responsible. Your example is correct that you wouldn't say the gas burned him, but you wouldn't say it was just the fire that caused their death. In a report you would say they were covered in gas and set ablaze. The gas allowed the fire to persist rather than extinguish when they tried to put it out.

At this point, Logan has recovered _all_ of his memories, apparently including both timelines (at least, the two we've seen). In other media (comics, audio dramas, etc) he goes through _multiple_ bouts of amnesia, sometimes self-inflicted, but the memories always eventually return. At this point in his story, he's avoided losing his memories for so long that they've all returned, just in time for him to die.
Speaking of audio dramas, Marvel's Wastelanders was a great series of six podcast series (a series of series? hmm) also loosely based on Old Man Logan. Doctor Doom, Red Skull, and Baron Zemo team up to defeat almost all the superheroes and take over the planet. The first five are kinda individual story lines starting with Star-Lord, then Hawkeye, Black Widow (starring Susan Sarandon!), Wolverine (starring Robert Patrick, aka T-1000), and Doctor Doom, the last is a team-up of those five (kinda like an Elderly Avengers).

The dinner scene is one of my favorite moments in an X-Men related film. Patrick Stewart said one of the main reasons he decided to come back for this movie was because of that scene and the scene afterward in the bedoom, since it would be the first time he and Hugh Jackman got a scene where they talked in a vulnerable, human way as family, as opposed to a dramatic scene where plot exposition was the point. It's a shame that the movies often don't have room and space to really breathe and give us the non-action stuff we love from the comics, like the X-Men playing baseball or having dinner or Spider-Man and the Human Torch grabbing coffee at the statue of liberty and venting to each other or Clark Kent meeting up with Diana and Bruce for brunch and sharing their lives with each other.

His healing factor is so high that he constantly compensates for it. If you recall in the Wolverine Origins, Sabertooth wants to have the metal in him but Striker tells him he is not compatible, meaning his healing factor isn't strong enough. Wolverine's healing factor is fully shown in the comics when Magneto pulls the metal out of him, which allows Wolverine to use his full abilities, he ends up turning nearly feral and heals super fast.

Daddy / Daughter Slaughter Day is just so heart-warming to witness.
---- Logan said, "Oh, so THAT'S what it feels like." Some fans like to speculate a metaphor from "The Wolverine". Logan was told by Yukio he would die with his heart in his hand. In "Logan" he died looking at Laura - concerned for her future - accepting her as his daughter - holding her hand.
    *_IMPORTANT NOTES_*
It was said briefly so it often gets missed. This is a? the? timeline when the Sentinel project was stopped. Instead of Sentinels to exterminate mutants, a new government project used modified corn syrup, food & drink additives, etc. - suppressing the mutant genes. This suppression worked on different mutants in different ways. The most susceptible were mutant children before their mutation took hold. That is why new generations of mutants were no longer manifesting.
For Logan - the corn syrup suppression weakened him significantly where the adamantium poisoning was overriding his healing factor. He began to age as well.
For Charles Xavier - it brought on dementia and he accidently slew the rest of the X-Men.
Laura / X-23 never had full body adamantium surgery so her skeleton could grow as she did - Only the claws were surgically done. Plus - she and the other mutant children 'experiments' were not given any modified processed food. She should be fine as long as she avoids processed foods - assuming that suppression project is still active.

Laura / X-23 is not part of the government-backed Weapon Plus Programme, so her number doesn't relate to Weapon X. She's part of a separate, private project. All of her series were attempts to clone Wolverine but the initial 22 failed. She was the first viable clone but the 23rd experiment in total so she had the serial number X-23.
[She was actually created for the animated series X-Men: Evolution but was popular enough to be ported over to the comics and, with this, to live-action. Each version has a slightly different origin story but the basics are mostly the same.]
