- During the "edge Of Thorns" era Savatage are interviewed on Metal Masters. A Tampa Bay TV Show. There is also a performance of "Sleep" with Zachary "Zak" Stevens and Criss Oliva. Also appearing on the show is Johnny Lee Middleton and Andy James.
2020 and still missing him :(

criss oliva is my favorite rythm guitarist. , and of course lead guitarist. but noone mention how his riffs was so incredible. more i see him on video, more i feel him alive.

Oh my God, how I miss the essence of those records in those years, Hall, Gutter, Streets and Edge. Many memories and tears. That version of Sleep is awesome!! Miss you Criss, thank you for so many great songs. R.I.P.
I really miss Criss Oliva still to this day. His guitar play is awesome and feel the emotion. He's got the feel.

That looks like Criss' apartment on Douglas Avenue in Dunedin, Fl. I met Criss in that room the day after they opened for Iron Maiden in Tampa (8/6/88). A friend of mine already knew him. We went to his house and smiked a joint with him and Dawn. Awesome to see that room in a video 28 years later. That could be a different place but it sure looks familiar and that was the only time I was ever in any of their homes. Tomorrow will be 23 years since Criss passed and his music is still living. May the crowds never be truly gone. RIP my friend.

My Absolute-Favorite #1 band of all "Savatage" and I miss Criss the best guitarist ever was and left us with the best guitar passages ever. I hung out with Criss in San Francisco in '93 before he passed away...we talked for almost an hour just him and I...shared with him how I could feel his life flow through his work. He gave me a coin which I still have. He only had 1 steel pick left which he had custom made! Criss was very cool and humble to have shared some time. Thanks Criss and Savatage!

@@ohmura07 A European coin the size of a half dollar with hands connected to each other... Jon told my wife he wondered what happened to that coin, said Criss practiced all the time with it...and would always twirl it in his hands.

It's basically like this he just had so much more to give..
That is exactly why drunk drivers just really piss me off, the fact that somebody could get into a vehicle not realizing that that's so many thousand pounds of a weapon in the wrong hands..
I surely wish that he was still around seeing him in this makes you wish that it hadn't happened but he will be remembered always I think he is legend of that era and deserves much much respect rest in peace Chris Olivia...

Wish I could see Savatage live back in the days with Chris. Great vocals and well underrated guitarist he deserves more credit for his unique playing.

Andy James was the drummer who took over for Doc on the EOT tour. ZAK Went on to be in a band called Circle to Circle or CIIC for short after Savatage. They covered Savatage songs as well, they are currently planning a World Tour and they are Killer! You can find just about everybody on fb in groups at Savatage forever. Please join us!. Andy James. He toured the edge of thorns with Savatage after doc kill drums left the band. But after the tour he was replaced by Jeff Plate.

Oh Yeah....ZAK STEVENS WAS A EGOTISTICAL JERK. Criss made fun of him because he gave me attitude after the show. That's okay though because Criss shared almost an hour of his time hanging out and talking with me...Too bad for you Zak...NAUGHTY!
