Can't believe this is 40 years old already.. And to think VH just put out Fair Warning which to me is their best shit.. Criss Oliva was truly awesome..
@@kevinprowse406 in the UK yes. it was released in january 1981 ain the states, unless the wiki is wrong...been known to happen before. anyhow the performance is from sometime in 82 I believe, but someone from there can probably tell us exactly when it was. Either way just glad to have footage of Cris and Savatage/Avatar from then.
No because he in my Top fifteen of all time even above one of my old time favorite Eddie Van.😮SAD 😂he does not get the Credit He Deserves. R.I.P.CRIS MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. SAVATAGE FAN 😊❤❤😮😮😊
Jon seemed to copy a lot of Ozzy Osbourne's stage presence at that early stage of their career, with the clapping and the type of head banging he was doing and the things he said between songs (even performing Crazy Train from Ozzy's recent solo album).
Are you certain about the year, 1981??? Camcorders weren't available to consumers until 1983... looks like video tape, but maybe not.... Either way, very vintage cool relic! Diggin the Kieth Kollins afro...lol
It's criminal that Criss isn't mentioned when talking about the greats. He is up there with all of them.
This shows the confidence and talent of Criss Olivia to play stuff by Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen and to do it so well.
If this is from 1981 he was light years ahead of most other guitarists on the planet What a monster talent So underrated
Criss Oliva - the best guitar player .
Criss Rules .
He honestly played eruption better than Eddie
Love it..:)There will never be enough videos of Criss Oliva.R.I.P.

Saw these guys about 5-6 years later, with DIO and Megadeth.
Criss Oliva at the age of 18! You can hear him becoming one of the most influencial guitarists of all time !
Chris was amazing and is missed terribly. Great talent taken too soon.

Wow! These boys were masterful musicians at the ages of 18 and almost 21! This video is a gem! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
This was recorded on July 12, 1981. Jon was a few days away from his 21st birthday and Criss was only 18 at the time.
Awesome footage!
81' - are you certain ? EVH Cathedral bit (in Criss's solo) wasn't released until 1982. great footage - looked like a hell of a good time !!
He could’ve heard that on a vh bootleg or saw ed play it live, ed was doing cathedral live in 81
There were 300 CD's made out of the recording of their entire set (12 songs) and it says the radio broadcast was in 1981.
According to Setlist FM it was June 27th, 1982.
